  1. I'm most impressed by the quality of their passing. But their D zone coverage continues to be bad. All three of the goals were preventable if someone covered the open man.
  2. When i was in 3rd grade The Babe Ruth Story with William Bendix was shown at my elementary school. It didn't mention anything about his drinking and adultery. I grew up thinking he was an inspiration and a great symbol of achievement. Was that wrong? Or was the message the important thing to remember?
  3. Then there's this...is he a Dexter in disguise or making things up? "Ben Carson, the soft-spoken, Yale-educated brain surgeon who has surged in the GOP presidential race, has written and spoken powerfully of divine intervention at several pivotal moments in his life. At the core of his narrative of spiritual redemption are his acts of violence as an angry young man — stabbing, rock throwing, brick hurling and baseball bat beating — that preceded Carson's sudden transformation into the composed figure who stands before voters today. In his 1990 autobiography, "Gifted Hands: The Ben Carson Story," Carson describes those acts as flowing from an uncontrollable "pathological temper." The violent episodes he has detailed in his book, in public statements and in interviews, include punching a classmate in the face with his hand wrapped around a lock, leaving a bloody three-inch gash in the boy's forehead; attempting to attack his own mother with a hammer following an argument over clothes; hurling a large rock at a boy, which broke the youth's glasses and smashed his nose; and, finally, thrusting a knife at the belly of his friend with such force that the blade snapped when it luckily struck a belt buckle covered by the boy's clothes. "I was trying to kill somebody," Carson said, describing the incident -- which he has said occurred at age 14 in ninth grade -- during a September forum at the Commonwealth Club in San Francisco. But nine friends, classmates and neighbors who grew up with Carson told CNN they have no memory of the anger or violence the candidate has described. That person is unrecognizable to those whom CNN interviewed, who knew him during those formative years. All of the people interviewed expressed surprise about the incidents Carson has described. No one challenged the stories directly. Some of those interviewed expressed skepticism, but noted that they could not know what had happened behind closed doors." http://www.cnn.com/2015/11/05/politics/ben-carson-2016-childhood-violence/index.html
  4. Watch or read "V for Vendetta" and it will explain the interest and symbolism.
  5. If you aren't planning to retire soon, buying stock when the market drops is a good way to make money in the long term, as the market and prices will eventually rise again. Buy low. People who panic during the short term lose potential profits.
  6. It seems like Uber has an unfair competitive advantage similar to online stores that don't have to pay sales tax or AirBnB who don't have to pay a hotel tax. Either Uber has to be subjected to the same licensing and regulation as cabs, or they need to be reduced on cabs to level the playing field. Of course if fees are reduced, then whatever the fees are used for will lose revenue.
  7. A good not great episode. It was a bit predictable that Eastman would die. A palette cleanser after the previous spicey episodes. Nice Easter egg tribute to Kevin Eastman, one of the creators of the Ninja Turtles, using his name and having Eastman wear a shirt with a turtle on it.
  8. They could have some initial qualifying questions to cut down the number of debaters. First question, "Which of you believe the Earth was created 6000 years ago? If you raised your hand, exit stage left. Next, who still thinks it was a good idea to invade Iraq? You may also leave the stage."
  9. It doesn't matter how good the question is, if they don't like it or don't have a good answer they talk about something else or blame the media to score points with their supporters. How many times do they say, "but first I want to talk about...".
  10. I would agree if we could hit a reset button and replace all elected officials. But since that's not going to happen, I believe it's important to elect someone who knows how to "play the game" in gov't so they don't get taken advantage of by those who do, and doesn't have to learn from scratch.
  11. Yeah, and as soon as someone loses their house because of bad advice, everyone will change their names.
  12. They're not close. He's Rick Lazio 2.0.
  13. I don't get the interest in Rubio, he comes off as so scripted. Every debate he has lines that sound like prepared statements that were written for him, like the mainstream media line that conservatives eat up. Plus his double standard that it was ok for his parents to come to America just because they're from Cuba, but don't let the Mexicans in. An archaic Cold War privilege.
  14. I don't agree with any of them, but I think Paul was the most articulate in providing detailed explanations of his views.
  15. Why do they always say they want gov't out of our lives when they know that's not true. They just want it out of our fiscal lives but not our personal lives.
  16. I think Paul and Kasich have given the most serious detailed answers. But I guess Republicans would rather have generalizations based on the polls.
  17. Carly, did Social Security and Medicare make things worse?
  18. Then you're not letting your money work for you.
  19. Anyone who's relying on saving bank interest rates instead of investing in the stock market isn't maximizing their potential return.
  20. I think some of these people would like to take us back to feudal times. Trust the rich to do what's best.
  21. A constitutional convention would be the 2nd civil war, and I don't think the country would survive.
  22. There's only one in the debate, unless you question the sex of some of the others.
