  1. What an alternative Republican could have gained from moderates they would have lost among the angry right. We could have seen a right wing nationalist run as an Independent. The Republican Party is two factions that can't agree.
  2. I thought Monica said it curved to the left.
  3. They provide a service. Interest and dividends to investors who provide money to them to loan and invest, since we don't have the time or knowledge to determine how to best maximize our 401Ks.
  4. Definitely not Sanders. Schumer or another long time Democrat. http://www.npr.org/sections/itsallpolitics/2015/03/27/395787288/how-the-senate-will-choose-harry-reids-successor
  5. Bernie would never be elected majority leader. He's not popular among the Dem Senators and only became a Dem for convienence. If the Dems take it, it will most likely be Schumer.
  6. I'm not here to make anyone work. I just present the facts, and if you can't handle the truth, then there's nothing more I can do. Perhaps when your older, say 70, you'll have learned you can't always get what you want.
  7. You need a drink, you're worrying way too much over semantics.
  8. I'm sorry, am I supposed to not support a party or candidate of my choice in an election? I have no control over another party I'm not a member of.
  9. Were you referring to another election? Any way you say it, Bernie still lost to Clinton in popular votes. 55.2% to 43.1% to be exact. That's a majority. Time to move on.
  10. If 10 people vote, and 6 vote for A and 4 for B, then A won a majority of the votes.
  11. I saw the transgender from South Africa won pulling away again in a women's race. Just isn't fair.
  12. The majority of the people that vote.
  13. The older candidates have a lifetime of experience to contribute. And they've seen what younger people haven't, such as the battle for women's right and the right to choose, which many younger women take for granted but could be reversed by a couple of Supreme Court replacements. They've been where we and younger people have been. If they're phsically and mentally fit, they should be able to run and serve. And in the end, the majority of the members of the political parties decide who we want to be our party's nominee.
  14. On Netflix just finished season 1 of Jessica Jones which includes Luke Cage, and starting season 2 of Daredevil which introduced The Punisher. A gritter street-level look at Marvel characters that I'd recommend.
  15. Boo da bum. Would have preferred he went to the Western conference.
  16. I think you mean George HW Bush who was CIA director, not W. Are you trying to get the job as the new head of Breitbart? I'd say you passed the audition.
  17. Bought a certified vehicle yesterday, a 2015 Grand Caravan Blacktop edition with 9k miles. All black with aluminum wheels. About as cool as a van can look. Traded in my 2006 van that I've had for 10 years that had parts of it literally taped up with duct tape and no working A/C. It will take awhile to get use to it. Now I'm going to be paranoid about people scratching it in the parking lots.
  18. All quiet on the campaign front? Has there ever been a presidential nominee that got rid of two campaign managers? Manafort was a dead man walking as soon as Trump 3.0 made the latest hires. They're trying to distance Trump from Manafort's ties with Russian and Ukrainian politics, but it may be too late given Trump's previous pro-Putin/Russian statements.
  19. Just watched a woman's race that had a transgender former guy from South Africa. SHe looked like a linebacker. Blew by the women at the end. Don't care about being transgender, but it doesn't seem fair to the other racers having such a physical advantage.
  20. He was one of my favorite personalities. They've had a lot of good program directors over the years. Their humor and knowledge get them attention by bigger markets. Isn't he married to Sloan Martin who's on WBEN? Brian Kozial is also a very good analyst.
  21. No, but in this case she worked at being good. She is better than Bill was at the detailed "wonky" work. Bill was better at the marketing.
  22. Insurers, including Aetna, have been pressuring the federal government to make changes to the risk programs meant to help insurers that cover high-cost patients. The program requires insurers with healthier-than-average customers to fund payments to peers with sicker-than-average enrollees. Aetna had to pay into the risk adjustment program in 2014 and 2015. Under the program, customers' health status is based on diagnoses of chronic costly conditions, such as diabetes and HIV. But insurers argue that enrollees' use of prescription drugs, particularly expensive specialty drugs, should be included in the formula. The Department of Health & Human Services is starting to make changes, including taking drug utilization into account. Last week, it said it will propose modifying the risk adjustment program to absorb some of the cost for claims above a certain threshold, funded by payments from all insurers. Obamacare's biggest problems lie in the risk mitigation efforts, said Timothy Jost, an emeritus professor at Washington and Lee University School of Law. In addition to the risk adjustment program, there were two other initiatives aimed at helping insurers cover high-cost patients. But both are ending this year. "I think the market will stabilize, and perhaps Aetna and United will come back," said Jost. "But the market really needs support for another few years until it does, and since the majority in Congress is rooting for [the Affordable Care Act] to fail, it seems unlikely that the support will be forthcoming." http://money.cnn.com/2016/08/15/news/economy/aetna-obamacare/index.html?iid=hp-toplead-dom
  23. You must have a higher standard than Trump supporters. As Trump said, "I could stand in the middle of 5th Avenue and shoot somebody and I wouldn't lose voters." We've been nation building since the end of WWII. We nation built Germany and Japan after defeating them, and now they're two of our closest allies and have strong economies. Most of the time it's providing economic, educational, medical, and administrative assistance. Imagine the change if people in the Middle East, including Palestinians, had economic opportunities as an alternative to joining radical groups. The problem with Iraq was invading without a plan on what to do after Saddam was defeated, in part because of unrealistic expectations. And then not giving all the ethnic and religious groups participation in the new government and administration. Those people left out of the aftermath formed ISIL in Iraq. Democracy doesn't happen in a couple years, and it's messy at the start. People forget how hard it's been over two centuries for the U.S. to get to where we are today. I'm not saying we should always take military action, but to just dismiss the ideals of nation building is not in our best interest.
  24. Well you know, Hillary's emails contained every secret from our nuclear codes to the Colonel's secret recipe, so they must have seen the emails where the pro-Russian Ukrainian party was going to give millions to the CGI in return for Hillary ordering the U.S. to leave NATO. Manafort was just being a patriot by taking the money himself to prevent it from happening. I'm just sayin'. Regarding Milwaukee, I lived there in the '80's, and the police had a reputation back then of not being very friendly to the public. I once had a police car pull up to me and put it's lights on when I was walking because I crossed a street against the light, even though there was no traffic at the light. Cop referred to me as a "wise ass" when all I said was "Yes sir, is there a problem?". There were many incidents back then of police actions questioned by the public. This particular shooting may be "a good shoot", but the public reaction could be a release of pent up anger over relations over time. Regarding Trump's foreign policy speech today: "Donald Trump is expected on Monday to propose screening immigrants with an ideological questionnaire. According to The Associated Press, the Republican presidential nominee plans to present a proposal during an address in Youngstown, Ohio, to create an ideological admissions test that would question potential immigrants on positions such as religious freedom, gender equality and gay rights. The test, in addition to combing social media and interviewing friends and families, would be used to determine whether potential immigrants support American values." http://www.politico.com/story/2016/08/trump-immigrants-screening-questionnaire-227006 So what will the test be on religious freedom and gay rights? Will they have to support the policy that Mike Pence tried to enact in Indiana that would allow businesses to discriminate against gays based on religious beliefs? Will they have to support or oppose the Supreme Court ruling on same-sex marriage? Does gender equality include support for equal pay legislation? Who decides what the questions are on the ideological admissions test?
