  1. Hall will get top billing and top defensive match ups. Vesey will be sheltered to an extent and even some 2nd pp time is better than none. NJ is not bereft of talent, they have prospects in the que. They are not cup contenders but with the exception of Chicago and Pittsburgh, no one else in the running is either.
  2. Agreed, but if the cupboard is bare he would be racking up minutes and pp time and as I said Henrique and Hall are a good start with Zacha likely to join them this year. Plus a decent draft this year. Not exactly pre McDavid Edmonton
  3. Define work. If you are looking at it from Vesey's pov, he would be a cornerstone who would have the opportunity to earn a big payday in 2 years. Henrique is a good center and they have a franchise goaltender. Their rebuild might not take long and he would be a key part. Will they win immediately? Probably not but they are bottomed out and looking up.
  4. NJ won't have Jack and Sam coming up for big money at the same time he is. And it fits the geography
  5. You do...yes you do.For those with an interest in this issue I would recommend the documentary "Gasland".
  6. He's from To right? Oh then make it a nailed studded Louisville slugger.
  7. Dick Cheney was responsible when he got the exemption in the Clean Water Act for disclosure of the contents of fracking fluid. Once the fracking was no longer subject to environmental laws and clean up costs, the value of shale gas rights went through the roof.
  8. When they married East was a start up with about 300m in assets. They made their money primarily in real estate and mineral right acquisitions in the Marcelus Shale regions. They sold east for a multiple but retained privately some of the leaseholds in Kentucky and Tennessee. Everything that Terry earned from 300m on up is half hers. Individually "he" couldn't have bought the team without the combined wealth the was also hers. That's how it works when you say "for better or worse." Some times the better is really good but it is collective wealth.
  9. I would also throw a bs flag on professional opportunities. If you want to be the next Zuckerberg, Ellison, Bezos or Brynn you go west to San Francisco and the Valley, not NYC.
  10. This is a one hit wonder, to kick off the 100 year anniversary party in TO, and it makes me hate it even more. Toronto with a broken Whiskey bottle.
  11. I'll throw this into the fire. When they purchased the Bills, Terry and Kim did so as joint owners with right of survivorship. From a legal standpoint that means upon either owners death, the asset in this case the Bills, would pass to the other without being subject to the defendants estate or estate tax. Terry even said that he expected Kim to survive him due to age differences. So the fact that both own it equally and one of the owners expects the other to outlive him and be an integral part of the franchise longer after he is gone, it makes sense that she is involved. It also helps defuse any talk of the team moving in the near future. As to the central question, Terry and Kim's combined ability to write a $1.4B check makes them qualified to be owners. The 1.4 wasn't Terry's or Kim's it was marital property. They both decided to spend it on the Bills. As to being mad at decisions made, your a fan, that accrues immediately. Whether your justified in thinking that your opinion matters to any owner, is where these arguments leave the rails. I have always maintained our opinions are our own and there is no fiduciary duty to anyone outside of shareholders and creditors. But that is just the way it is. You can get on the bus and get off anytime you want, but if you think you are going to influence the driver in any way I think is hubris.
  12. But what are they representing? Country? No. NHL? No. So if they are not on a national team because they are not good enough or politics, so be it. I still think some of the under 24s would have spots on Team USA and McDavid would have been on Canada.
  13. I'm with you. This is a contrived attempt to make people forget what real international competition is. The NA and team Europe are ridiculous. I would rather have both Risto and Jack in camp getting ready for the season.
  14. Blah blah blah blah blah Nazis blah blah blah blah
  15. I am not looking forward to fox sports like graphics and robots spouting useless info like zone entry speed and comparisons between Eichel and Matthews concerning average half board positioning. Used correctly it could help coaching but if served as pablum to viewers it will be annoying. I hate what fox has done to all sports it covers, and hope this isn't the first step on a slippery slope.
  16. In 2 years he won't have any bidders other than the team holding his rfa rights.
  17. Yes yes Depends
  18. Hawks Top six until he hits performance bonuses then he gets traded to Columbus 10 15
  19. I should have prefaced my post better. It was implied up thread that her first act was to redo the locker rooms. I was trying to connect her skills in image and branding with her actions. I am and always will be a believer in the church of "If can write the check, you are qualified to be an owner, and owe nothing to anyone else regarding what you do with that asset, within the bounds of the law." Ask PA
  20. Kim's background is in public relations and marketing or in a nutshell image. In the energy industry, that is no small challenge and is multiplied in the emotionally charged debate over fracking. Whatever her true contribution to East was in dollars and cents is probably indeterminable. But she is eminently qualified to be the business "face" of any organization. Her biggest projects to date have all been related to brand enhancement. I think you will see her be very active in these type of endeavors.
  21. Anyone think Hudler might be plan B? Great 5v5 player.
  22. I think the motto was north south. But there was little thought given to what to do once you are challenged at the zone. This was particularly noticeable in the drop in cross ice dzone passes. Maybe it is slower process to implement the system.jmho
  23. PS: actual hockey discussion is fun.
  24. Me too. I think we saw at the end guys settling into roles. If that continues and they improve in the roles I think we can be a better possession team.
  25. All valid points, and I am a proponent of maintaining possession into the ozone. I just don't know if I want foligno or moulson cycling back like the red army to tty it. I also think the best teams have dmen that assist in this , i.e. jumping up as the outlet, but we do not have enough, or the right ones on the roster. Coaching and system play a large part, but if the goal is to play in the ozone as much as possible, I think the.north south type of players tend to instinctively dump it. I would expect players like Nylander, ROR, Jack , Sam and otbers to use their superior skill to gain the zone, but I question whether others have that skill. Gionta is a great example of someone who drives me nuts when he dumps it, but do you sit the Captain to drive home a point?
