I have no interest in taking Pominville off this team until he’s dead. He’s been good and has produced. Until that changes he needs to be here.

I disagree. He shouldn’t have started in the first place but if he’s healthy and there’s no increased risk of making the injury worse you put him back in there. This is a huge learning moment for him and the franchise. And he will be starting after the bye week.

I do recall seeing Reinhart out there with the first line in the second while Jack was out.

He didn’t move Reinhart to the top line in search of a spark, I don’t believe. He was on the top line earlier because Eichel was out and he was on the ice there for a six-on-five. But the rest stands.

I wouldn’t be surprised if he re-signed but if he does I don’t think it will be because the team is leaking this info. They’ve got three weeks to sign him. He knows this. He knows trade talks have to happen.

I think there was word that Nylander wanted $8M but was recently willing to go slightly lower so he might actually be had around $7-7.5M which isn’t actually THAT bad. I wonder, really, what it will actually take. I imagine they’d like the idea of guys like Risto and Reinhart as center pieces (and Mittelstadt but no). Maybe they like good looking players and we can get him for Tage Thompson, Jake McCabe and the St. Louis first. But uh that’s not happening. Based on just about everything being reported the Leafs will try to add a good win-now piece above all else. I doubt they care a ton about a couple firsts.

Phil deserves some credit for his coaching to this point in the year and his decisions. The lines have really meshed lately. Jeff Jack and Jason went up a hill to fetch a bail of goals and it worked. Berglund Larsson Girgensons has shut teams down and brought a physical edge. Okposo has found life. Reinhart is actually producing at a career-high pace even though it feels like he’s off to a slow start. Dahlin has excelled and I have no problem saddling him with Beaulieu to get 82 going. It has worked. Believing in Bogo has paid off big time. The shootout picks today were spot on, too. All three beat the goalie, Sam’s just didn’t go in.

You can shoot in the shootout even if you have a minor at the end of OT. You can.

Up until the very end I was feeling the opposite. I think this could be a team that makes the playoffs but isn’t quite a “playoff team” as people define is figuratively.

TIE GAME BABYYYY. I had turned off the game to catch some of the Raptors game and the Skinner goal happened within a few seconds and now this. What I’m trying to say is you’re welcome.

90% of Tage Thompson’s offense is doing things that don’t worry but if they eventually work once or twice it’ll look really cool. He seems like he wants to be something he most definitely is not. Also, we are not a playoff team. Too many performances like this. An improvement, no doubt, but it’ll be frustrating at times.

I mean from a goalie standpoint you can’t afford to make big mistakes. You’re the very last line of defense so your bad mistakes are always goals.
