Fellow Sabres fans, don’t miss out on this movie.  Brought a satisfying end to a saga many on this board grew up with.  I’d say more, but don’t want to spoil the movie in any way.  J.J. Abrams nailed it.

My hope is starting to build based on your response here, and some of the fan reviews in Rotten Tomatoes and elsewhere.

Well I'm pumped for Rise of Skywalker.  Can't wait to see it tonight!

I hope you enjoy it.  I just can't bring myself to go until I can ascertain that it is reasonably free of overt political agendas, ridiculous and boring sub plots, and dastardly character assassinations of heroes that I would prefer to remember the way I remember.

  3. It appears the majority of critics dislike Rise of Skywalker.  Scott Mendelson, specifically, tore it apart.  His write up was a thinly veiled attempt to insult fans would didn't like Last Jedi, or subscribe to his view of the world.  Perhaps I will go see Rise of Skywalker if he hates it so much....might actually be good then.

  4. Too many memories to mention, but here were some of my good memories/moments:

-Oilers/Sabres on MLK Jr. Day '87, Scott Arniel with the OT winner against Gretzky/Messier.  I was so excited to get my free Whopper with a Game Stub after the game.  Victory never tasted sweeter.

-The smells and sounds that have been unmatched.  Still remember that stale beer smell like it was yesterday.  Bandits championship game in '96 was so loud, I couldn't even hear my own thoughts.

-The guy who used to walk around with the keyboard, and the Sabrettes.

-Those TVs in the upper blues because you couldn't see the scoreboard.

-Sabre Carnivals.  Got to chat with Robb Stauber in the locker room, and it was a real treat to chit chat with Matt Barnaby when he was a nobody.

-The bats in the trees outside the building and parking under the highway.

-The last game at the Aud, and shedding a tear as I realized that things were really changing and I could never go back

-I was very fond of all the "original" goal songs we used to have ("Celebrate the Tradition", "Rock 'Em Sabres, "Jump/Shout", and obviously "Sabre Dance").  It would be nice to bring those back.  I associate our current goal song with losing.  I would love to get a copy of "Jump/Shout" if anybody has it.  That is the only song I can't find on YouTube outside of old Sabre highlight videos from '93/'94 and '95.

This probably isn't the right thread for fun random user-created trades, but I'm not sure which one is. Sorry!

Trying to fix the skill problems, with emphasis on what the toughness posters want to improve as well.

Casey Mittelstadt, prospect for Josh Anderson from Columbus
Rasmus Ristolainen, Sam Reinhart, Victor Olofsson, 2nd rounder for Matt Tkachuk, Sam Bennett
    Vesey for a pick
Miller (sorry True!), Thompson, Sheary, 2nd rounder for Stastny, Reaves, Carrier

    Skinner - Eichel - Bennett
    Johansson - Stastny - Tkachuk
    Carrier - Asplund - Anderson
    Zemgus - Larry - Reaves

    Dahlin - Montour
    Scandella - Jokiharju
    McCabe - Bogosian

Cozens moves Asplund down a line next year.

Yah I know this is silly

Where do I sign up for this?  The line balance is much better, albeit probably less "talented" on paper from what we are giving up.  But talent without will equates to the abomination that we see on the ice in Sabres sweaters.

There was a time when something like that woulda have resulted in Basil McRae or Shane Churla or Willi Plett going nuts and we would have had an exciting game on our hands.

    That time is long gone.

Instead we get to watch some skating around for 20 minutes with very little passion.  Like a silver ballet.

Yeah, dude has potentially life changing injuries and we’re just hoping he doesn’t come back.

After Tim Connolly and Pat LaFontiane I’d hope we’d be above that.

That Okposo collision was very similar to the collision that ended Lafontaine's career with the Rangers, in that it didn't seem too bad from looking at it.

Because until Dahlin took himself out of position, he was in a perfect position to take the player about to swoop in deep.  It was a logical handoff and you see forwards handing opponents off to defensemen like that all game, every game.

At best it was a miscommunication; at worst it was Dahlin abandoning his post.

Dahlin was lost on the play.  Not sure why he floated forward and towards the center of the ice on the Carolina rush, and then decided to wander rather uselessly next to Hutton.
The lack of assertiveness is at the core of all their issues in my opinion.  I know not everyone agrees, but I want some banging and smashing out there.  I actually don’t mind Reinhart’s misconduct.  Good!  Show some emotion! Re-direct it at the opponent next time.

i just finished watching the second episode. it was better than the first. it was over and i was wanting more.

its the first time in a long time that anything star wars has kept this much interested. its the best thing to come out of star wars since the original 3.

The episode went by so fast.  After two episodes, my hopes are really starting to build that Disney really nailed this one.

Risto is the guy in a fight who throws a punch when his buddies have the other guy tied up. Seeing him live on Saturday was a game changer for me. Only seems to be "tough" after the whistle. Is be surprised in GM's didn't see this too. Not sure what his return would be in a trade.

I've always been an ardent Risto supporter, but this weekend was the camel that broke my straw back.  I saw what you saw essentially, and I have really lost all hope in him becoming much of anything outside of minute muncher.

Hmmmmm....a forward from a western team.

Gad zooks......it's Matt Tkachuk for Risto and Vlad.

We need aggressive guys, period.  We have been so passive the past few games, it is downright sickening.  Risto can throw the big hit, but he can be soft as cotton in a defensive board battle or in front of the net.

The Pats arent worried about AB destroying the locker room because this was all just an act to get out of Oakland. New England was where he wanted to be traded to all along, so he threw a tantrum to get his way.

Brown cares only for Brown.  The chances this doesn’t end well are high.  If this was orchestrated, AB plays the long game better than Emperor Palpatine.  He’s been a jerk for years.

There is a lot of mouths to feed on that offense.  The complaining will start once any adversity hits.  Can you imagine if Brady gets hurt?!!!!  I’m not rooting for an injury because if you strip away football, Brady seems like a good guy, but would be lying if I said I wouldn’t enjoy the outcome of said injury.

Well, it's kinda hard to be sure about this kind of thing, but I do think Vanek is the floor and not the ceiling -- although there are certainly plenty of similarities that indicate that Laine's career could be as big a disappointment as Vanek's was.

I guess I just think that it's pretty unusual for a guy as talented as Vanek to ultimately amount to as little as Vanek did, so I think the likelihood is that Laine surpasses Vanek.

Why are you talking about Vanek like he is Patrik Stefan?  He did score 40 twice, and has produced pretty steadily throughout his career.  He’s not a hall of famer, but far from a disappointment.
