Yeah that last goal isnt. But as someone said - the first was a weak goal, the second he way over committed and Kesler made a few big saves for him too. The guy played 20 hours ago. He must be exhausted Truculence wins trophies. GODD must be disappointed. His ideal team has just been shown to be useless in the two most important games

What about trying Tyler Myers up front like Brent Burns
Trettioåtta replied to SabresBillsFan's topic in The Aud Club
Burns was drafted primarily as an RW. It is the position he has developed for most of his life. (although he had played D a fair few times as well). If you haven't been raised playing a position at least infrequently i think you have little hope at the NHL level. All of Myers instincts would be wrong (waiting for someone to say "they are already always wrong" - they're not) and his positioning would be all over the place. As we have seen Myers real issue is his demons in his head. He is someone who needs confidence to play well. Moving positions would obliterate his confidence as he would be making mistake after mistake (as everyone does when they first start something). The NHL is not a place to learn. It is a place to develop. In short - no. -
Don't argue with idiots because they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience

Loved Vlasic's play to end the game. Toews had a great game defensively. Go Canada The British commentators were saying the game was not as entertaining as everyone expected after last olympics

So this is now in motion. Flights are booked (and rebooked due to my friend making a huge error about when his interviews are...) I will be in NA from 27th July - 27th August (sadly missing independence day). The route we are planning is (the days are a rough guide): Toronto (buddies gf lives here - personally i'd happily skip it) - 3 days Buffalo - 1 day Boston - 3 days New York - 4 days Philly - 2 days Washington - 3 days Asheville (via BPR) - 2 days Charlestown - 2 days Savannah - 2 days St Augustine - 1.5 days Orlando - 1 day Obviously this is quite a tight schedule and whilst distance isn't too bad (about 2500 miles) adding in smaller places (e.g. Gettysburg) makes it a squeeze. So if anyone has any tips about cutting time down/out of cities that would be great :)

In my mind the Islander's first has been portrayed as a bleating lamb tied to a stake, and I see Sabres fans as staring from the bushes, saliva pouring from their sharp teeth. It amuses me to no end

Me and the American guy in the lab were watching this on the computer, stopping our experiments every 30 seconds. It was intense. Fun to watch in a bizarre way. I really hoped Latvia got a lucky breakaway and held on for 2-1. Nolan has impressed quite a few people i'm sure. I wonder what he would be like with a good team? Is his ability to wring every ounce of talent from a team or only to make bad teams better? Interesting to find out. I joked with the American guy that I wonder if Nolan's experience of coaching a team that is always outgunned and outmatched for 40 games helped him come up with tactics etc. for this. Latvia should be proud with how they played (despite being dominated they showed guts and blocked a ton of shots). Also I love their jerseys

Girgenson could have sealed the victory. Hit the crossbar on a 3 on 1 Empty net goal. 3-1 with 1min to go

I am supporting Miller, not the US. So I hope Quick gets light up like a christmas tree by Ovie and Miller sees the US to a gold

4 out of Quick's last 5 starts before the Olympics were below .900

I really liked his analysis of games. Shame he is leaving. But he has had a great career, and has definitely earnt his time off

"Increasingly Substantiated BS" rumor thread- 2014 Edition

My bad. For some reason I thought ROR had another year on his contract. Probably due to the shortened season confusing me -

Draft is before FA signing period -
Yes. I think the issue with Enroth is two-fold: His lack of height is not a disadvantage per-se but it is certainly not an advantage. It means he has less room for error when he drops down into the butterfly style. If Rinne goes down early there is still barely any room between his shoulder and the crossbar because he is 6'5' or something. Enroth is 7 inches shorter. When he drops down there is a noticeable gap. This means the shooting player doesn't have to get off as precise a shot. It is also something that other players will start to target the more he plays. They will come up with moves to make him drop and open up that gap. His rebound control, whilst significantly better over the last few years, still concerns me. He gives up very juicy rebounds in the slot. It is the main noticeable difference between Ryan and Jonas' games. I notice when Ryan gives a bad rebound because he so rarely does it. His rebound control is fantastic. This problem is far more fixable than number 1, but it again is something that will be targeted. These two problems combine to mean forwards have a good play if they shoot hard and low or high with a slower release. This isnt ideal.

So much for two deadlines this year. I guess it should mean the real one isn't diluted -
GAME DISCUSSION THREAD GDT: Buffalo at Ottawa 2-6-14 at 7:30 PM EST

Weber, McBain and Leino on the ice for the final minute. I think Teddy might just be the real tank commander. -

Thank you! It really annoys me when people mention Dats/Z. The Red Wings were the only team in the league who saw Datsyuk. The Blues were sending a scout to go see him but bad weather cancelled the flight so they gave up. It is also worth noting that Getzlaf and Perry were part of the 2003 draft. They are still amazing late first round picks, but that draft was just sensational (it is one of the things that annoys me about Vanek...our highest pick [in recent years] was in a draft you literally didn't need a high pick in) -
Hockey at a reasonable hour? *Eyes fill with tears* Yes please

Neither of those plays were resolved or solved with fighting. The police were called for the Pacioretty hit and Lucic fought Goose a month after the Miller hit. Goose fighting was ridiculous because it didn't happen at the time. However, since then the league has got better at suspending players and if that play was to happen again Lucic gets suspended

So we become the opposite of the Oilers? They have really good forwards but can't stop goals to save their lives. We will be able to stop them but will be unable to score them. Oilers lose 5-4 games we lose 1-0/2-1 games. Great. I'll take Bennet if we draft first overall. We need offence. When the difference in skill is so small and the difference in need so great, the BPA-policy has to go out the window. -
I'm sure some people here just use stats to determine who the good and bad players are. Plus/Minus is awful at telling you much. It is a line stat. Myers made a poor clearing attempt that lead to a goal, but the other three were not really his wrong-doing. Most notably Leino getting smoked and Myers trying to block the 3-on-1 last minute.

How many forward prospects do we have that are on par with: Zadarov Risto Pysyk McCabe McNabb Rudy We have two decent centres (G/G) and literally one winger (Armia). Outside of Armia we don't have a winger who will make the NHL. We are so bare there -
