Ryan O'Reilly - Get Him At All Costs - Who Do You Trade

I wonder if they trade him in 12 months so they don't have to sign him to a 6.5m contract after this one -

It is their GMs fault - he had offers -
Maybe ROR had no interest in us. Vancouver also offer sheeted him and he refused

Surely Florida would be better to cut ticket prices by 40% and fill up the remaining 50% of the arena. More money and the illusion of fans -

His next contract will be a horrible one for a team to swallow -

Yeah I thought about that, but it was too late - i'd already commented. I hope she doesn't, both for her and my sake -

I'm not down on him, but he isn't playing the game he should be playing and isn't as effective as he should be. For all the ###### Hecht takes, there's no denying he is playing his game, Marcus isn't -

I think it is the same as Grigo - it isn't to punish him as such, it is to show him how to improve his game (hint - stop playing with the puck). I think we forget how young a guy he really is -

Also Stafford has been good defensively and on the Pk - he is still an asset the team. Foligno has really not contributed much in the last month - he is young as well, so i have no problem with treating him like Grigo. He should be on the 3rd line, but I think his call up last year tricked everyone into thinking he would be a more contributing player -

Foligno could do with sitting, he needs to simplify his game and stop trying to dangle through people and to use his body more -

NMC don't save the player from being bought out. The only reason to buy a player out with the amnesty buyout would be to save cap space. Briere is on the tail end of his contract, so isn't earning much -

Breire won't wave his NMC (nor should he - he negotiated it in for stability) http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=416949 -

The Sedins signed for $6.1 million each and they are 80-100 point scorers. Not to mention Vanek has been over signed for 4 years. If our GM could get them to agree to $5.5 million each, what would you think then? e.g. 5 for 5 -
Armia is almost certainly going to the playoffs. So he won't be there to help for another month or two

Bernier was traded months later for a 2nd and 3rd, the second become Torres and the 3rd became McNabb -

We got Ennis, McNabb and 20 games of Torres for Campbell - that is about as good a return as you will ever get I think -

Okay, let me put it another way. The year before their awful season they lost leadership - the players you mentioned barely played, you can't be part of the core by playing on the bench - if we bought out Leino this offseason, it wouldn't change the on ice team at all because he wasn't part of it. Furthermore, trading Foresberg wasn't reshaking the core, it was making the logical decision - he refused to commit to them long term, so they shipped him out before he was lost for nothing. Kukkonen was a place filler, he was as much a part of their core as Sulzer is to ours. I also think trading Sekera would not be a major shake up move. A shake up to me would be them trading Knuble, Gagne and Foresberg (even if he wanted to resign). Firing the GM and coach is standard on a failing team. We have done one so far, and I would expect us to do the other unless he makes some good moves at the deadline. I agree perhaps my minor tweeks comment was going too far, it would be fairer to say they recovered without making a major shake up. They didn't have to blow the team up to recover form it -

People really only use stats to determine value. They forget Howard's stats are mediocre despite playing behind a 4 time winning Selke player and the greatest D-man of all time for half the game -
18-6-4 gives us 55 points and a 93% chance of the playoffs 16-8-4 gives us 51 points and a 18% chance of the playoffs
