  1. RR has given us an awful power play - worse than when under Ruff and we have given up loads of shorties. Nice to see Leo hasn't missed a step...truely awful on that play
  2. Am i wrong, or do we have Grigo on the second line and a real shut down line of Ott-Hecht-Kaleta
  3. Enroth struggles with rebound control
  4. Interesting idea: Could our defensive problems have something to do with the lack of right handed D men? Ehrhoff - Left Leopold - Left Brennan - Left Regehr - Left Sekera - Left Sulzer - Left Weber - Left Pardy - Left Myers - Right Vanek (right) - Coho (right) - Pommers (right) Ott (left) - Ennis (left) - Gerbe (left) Foligno (left) - Porter (left) - Flynn (right) Hecht (left) - Grigo (left) - Stafford (right) Scott (left) - Leino (left) Kaleta (right) Right handed players on the team Defence: 1/9 Offense: 6/15 I wonder if it has something to do with us getting stuck in our zones - most of the players are playing off wing, so have a weaker body position on the boards and passes are going to be harder. Only two wingers (Vanek and Gerbe) play off wing, but only 1/5 of our centres is right handed

    Plan B

    7. They've told others they will not trade their best young players: Jacob Markstrom, Erik Gudbranson, Jonathan Huberdeau and Nick Bjugstad.
  6. I think I still want Barkov. The big three have been so hyped I expect them to fall a little short of expectations - more of a Tavares than a Crosby. The thought of having a top 2-way centre (Toews) in Barkov makes me go weak at the knees. Our skating coach (and Gary Roberts) has worked wonders with Coho and even Grigo seems better, so that knock doesn;t bother me "A very calm center who uses his vision well, Barkov has an excellent offensive game and good size. His very good passing and puckhandling combined with great hands and hockey sense make him a big offensive threat. He plays with high confidence and never seems to be under pressure. Barkov is a creative with a very solid overall package and the skill set to compensate for his below-average skating, making him one of the top prospects for the 2013 NHL Draft."
  7. You said at minimum they should split time. A back-up needs to be able to play once every 4/5 games, that is a skill they need to learn, or they have to go to a lesser league to be a starter. Giving Enroth 10 games over the next 20 odd won't show if he can be a back up. I agree let him play more, we are completely out of the playoffs by now (considering if have had no major injuries - bar Leino - is really atrocious), but by more i mean give him 1/4 of the games.
  8. He is a soft forward who is defensively suspect. If we could trade for him and duct-tape him to Stafford it might work.
  9. Is popcorn a peasant's food because it is just corn kernels or is it a king's food because it has the highest mark-up or any food product and is like $50 a box now a days?
  10. But from Miller's point of view: He has worked hard this year and been let down a lot by his team, he is meant to be one of the three stars of this team and is meant to be the starting goaltender. Saying we want to see if Enroth can replace you, even though he hasn't played well enough to earn ice time in over a year is a huge ###### you. Why would you want to play for an organisation that literally wanted to replace you? How would Thomas Vanek feel if you said, you have been doing well this season, but we would like to give you 10 minutes a game ont he 4th line to see what Grigo can do. We don't have a Lou/Schnieder situation here, this would be worse than if the Kings told Quick he was going to sit half the games to see what Bernier can do

    Plan B

I used to love watching Detroit play because Lidstrom was incredible on the ice and I respected the organisation's ability to retain excellence. I have a soft spot for Calgary because they remind me of us, only in a much worse situation, and I love Iginla. I also like Nashville because of their ability to compete on a shoe-string budget. Sadly none of these teams seem to be doing too fantastically this year
  12. http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/feature/?id=88978 Worst team in the league according to the mid-season review. The panthers are tied with us, but they have excuses
  13. I wonder what has made him suck this season/welcome the mood. Clearly Buffalo is not a hockey heaven, but I wonder why. Ruff is no longer here to rape/ruin/torture the players (or whatever crime it was he did to them daily), Pegula seems like the best owner ever and does DR really have that much to do with the players daily lives?
  14. The picks are an insurance policy incase he doesn't want to sign. Also Pommers has a no move clause and a limited NTC. Unless he wants to go, he doesn't go
  15. Pommers and his Mum were the best!
  16. To an extent yeah, my/our perception is off. However, for example, Stafford is currently playing awfully offensively. His shooting percentage is 3.3%, but is he (or anyone) actually that lacking in offensive ability or is something just off/wrong? On paper he should be a 50 point 8ish% scorer, currently he is not - but i don't think it is because over the last 7 months he has just turned into a ###### player - i just don't know why it is Maybe the shortened season played a bigger role in the weird standings than expected (Rags, Devs and Flyers all fighting for the playoffs whilst the Habs sit atop the East etc.)
  17. On paper, this team isn't half bad. If Foligno played like he did last season/this season in the AHL (instead of dangling every 2 seconds) and Stafford remembered he was a hockey player we would have a decent (but not ideal) top 6: Vanek - Coho - Pommers Foligno - Ennis - Stafford Then we have a but of an unusual third line that is not your typical shutdown but instead a lovely combination of grit, skill and possession: Ott - Grigo - Leino Our 4th line is then a bit of a utility line - which could be what made this team great! We could have tailored it to our opponents strengths Scott - Mccormick - Kaleta = Grit line Hecht - Porter - Kaleta = Defensive line Gerbe also exists, but I really struggle to work out how he fits into a team. I like him as a person. But he is not skilled enough to make up for his size - he gets hemmed in our zone a lot and is too small to really muscle for the puck on a consistent basis On defence I think we have in theory a really nice line-up: Myers - Ehrhoff should be your number 1/2 D men (even if they don't play of the same line Sekera - Regehr = here you have a defensive but not physical young number 3 d-man, and a gritty leader vet who has lost a step to become a number 4 Weber - Leo = Gritty young number 5/6 and a decent 2 way player who rounds out the top 6 Then in the wings we have Brennan (youngish chip on shoulder prospect), Pardy (gritty number 6), Sulzer (decent number 7) Our issues our weird. We have the pieces but they don;t fit
  18. Pommers was trying to control the play on the second goal - he yells for someone to cover the guy who eventually scores then he plays the guy with the puck. 2 other Sabres failed to break up the pass or take the other guy. I don't blame Pommers for thY
  19. I think this team is just tired of playing under Rolston. It looks like his message is just not getting through anymore. He has been here for too long and this team has quit on him
  20. They lose the puck and they get ready to receive - classic
  21. Edmonton is ominously positioned to win the lottery and snag their next top prospect. I really don't understand why they are so bad - it must be lack of veteran presence or something
  22. I believe the whole of a signing bonus counts on the cap - the point of it was to make the actual salary more even across the years - and it also makes the player more tradable e.g. Shea Weber gets $26 million of his contract in 366 days, then the remaining 80 odd over the next 13 years
  23. Kaleta - I like to wind people up and can relate to his desire to have weird projects Vanek - Have skills to do things, but find it very hard to get motivation (lazy)
  24. Hecht always hits the goalies logo when he shoots from in front of the net. That time there would have been no logo to stop the shot He gave up a huge rebound on an easy shot. The net was wide open, even if a defenceman was on the NJD player, it would have still been an easy goal - just need to throw the puck on the net
