Kyle Shanahan is amazing. Offensive mastermind. The way the 49ers use motion and alignments to open up giant running lanes is amazing. And that's with a mediocre QB!

Well they're designed to beat the Packers pretty well, so far.
Same as during the regular season.

Beauty was obviously in the eye of the beholder. He's even less of an NHL D man than Bogo.
Gilmore represented the one thing this fanbase has clung to since we decided to lose on purpose, something different. It was no more than that. The idea that folks would riot over losing Gilmore and not over losing Bogo with nothing returned is silliness.
Only if you ignore the contracts. Losing Bogosian to waivers would be a hugely positive development. Of course people aren't going to be upset.

Yep. And $25-35 is even better. ?
I’m only speaking for me here... I’ve never been one to need a new video game the day it comes out. The week it comes out. The month in comes out. Same with consoles. As an example, I got the PS4 last year for Christmas. It first came out just before Christmas in 2013. I’ll get the new SW game (because of the positive reviews here and elsewhere). Probably in May.
That's fair. I'm normally the same way. Except The Witcher 3. That I pre-ordered and downloaded at release.

Cool. I’ll have to pick up a copy in a three months when the used games are cheap cheap lol. I almost never buy games brand new. I can’t bring myself to pay $50-$60 for a game ?.
Meh. $60 for the amount of hours a good game will give you is among the best entertainment values around.

Ovie has his second hat trick in two games. 8 goals in his last three games. Dude is 34
Minor detail: he also passed Mario on the all-time list. I honestly think he gets to Gretzky if he doesn't retire.

Yup, that's totally what I said. ???

I did too. There were lots o problems.
Of course, it's hockey. Barring a goalie, there's usually not one player to blame. But Bogosian was a significant problem, and he will continue to be one as long as they keep dressing him.

Meh, if you were he, and had his passing options, you would probably hold onto is as well. I know I would.
Saying an NHL player did what you would do isn't the defense you think it is ?

I like this Version of Dahlin
He's been pretty great basically since coming back from the concussion.

Because they look like they should be good hockey players? That's all I've got.

26 months. I'm sure it'll be at a country club prison and he'll get out plenty early, but hey, at least it's something.

Problem with this speculation is that Dubas and everyone else could have acquired Miller for a lot less then Kapanen before Buffalo acquired him. Maybe his private numbers don’t match the public numbers always associated with Miller.
Internal analysis could be different, for sure. I don't buy that Dubas was in a position to acquire him, though. He was traded well before the Marner deal was in place, and Toronto was in no position to add $4M in salary.

Why are they hamstrung? They have $5.8M in Deadline cap space. Morgan Reilly is out for months (at least two) and even if Muzzin comes back in February, they seemingly have plenty of space to make a move.
I align with @nfreeman - considerable sweetener. Why would they trade a young asset with excellent possession metrics and has a much higher ceiling for a guy who has been healthy scratched 15 times this year? And do it within division. No chance.
You're assuming they value Miller the same as Krueger does.

No question he would be a great get, but others will offer more than just the equivalent of Miller.
Really depends on your opinion of Miller. I think he's clearly a top-4 defenseman. A team that takes numbers seriously, such as Toronto, may be inclined to agree.

Lazar is the type of guy that excels under Kruger, he's fully bought in to the role he needs to play.... and you've seen similar results at times from Larsson, Sobotka, Okposo, etc.. the not so talented guys. That's great, but the higher end talent guys like Johansson and Skinner don't seem to do so well under him... and Reinhart... don't even get me started, the guys a train wreck!
Obvious troll is obvious, but he has 20 points in his last 20 games.

Lost tonight. They are an odd team. Great one night, absolute crap the next. Hard to figure out. We might have a better shot at catching Toronto though. One can dream.
Toronto has the best record in the NHL since the coaching change. So no.

Not that I want to trade Miller, but Miller for Kapanen makes sense for all parties.

I had my labrum fixed a few years back, and it royally sucked. But I made a full recovery, and I wasn't exactly getting the rehab that Tage will get. There's no reason to think this will have any meaningful effect on his career. I'll be surprised if he's ever a useful NHL player, but it won't be because of the shoulder.

So he's been bounced twice, unceremoniously. The Panthers have done nothing to really improve.
He went to Vegas, had a great year the first year then the team was playing with nothing to lose... and then what? First round loss and now fired.
Why do people want him here? What has he proven? Nothing to me.
It's just a case of "gimme anyone who can stop the losing" I think. But you bring Gallant in here and I don't think anything changes. At least not record wise...
It's not the coach... coaches don't take bad teams and make them great. They take pretty good teams and make them great. They can always take a great team and make them bad.
In game 7. To the team that made the conference final and lost to the eventual Cup winner. And you said it yourself, Florida has only gotten worse since he was fired. I agree he wouldn't fix what ails the Sabres, but you're out to lunch on your assessment of him as a coach.

I feel like non-hockey reasons would lead to an interim head coach. Hiring DeBoer immediately goes against that. It seems like a case where the team has stagnated a bit all while there's a guy available who you really like. I could see someone describing that as non-hockey reasons though, so is that something you were suggesting?
I'm catching up and made that post before I saw the DeBoer hiring. Reminds me of when Montreal hired Julien...a guy came available the wanted and made the move.
That said, I still don't think it makes any sense. There's no evidence DeBoer is a better coach than Gallant.

I don’t buy that.... if Vegas killed the Sabres 5-0, I bet he would still have a job this morning. Granted, his firing may have been semi imminent, but if they won convincingly, Gallant would have another game at the very least. The firing in general is rather premature in my opinion.
I dunno, it seems to point to the speculation there are non-hockey reasons for the move.

If I'm Beane, I'm going hard after Jamal Adams SS, NYJ and, if it's possible, get Bell out of them as well. But Hyde's coming in to his final contract year, he can be moved for a recoup piece or pick. But getting Adams to slide in, a younger, stronger, better player at SS without having to use a draft pick next year, yea, I'm all for that.
The only thing Adams is better at than Hyde is hitting. He's notably worse in coverage. Not sure why you'd want to go there in this era. As far as Bell goes...why? Singletary is really good and dirt cheap. If you're going to pay Bell to essentially be a receiving threat...why not just get a real receiver?

Yes and no. The PK (and PP) will also improve if we can get puck possession at the onset of the PK/PP. This is where our terrible FO% continues to kill us.
It would be interesting to see the PK% with Ullmark in net vs Hutton.
Teams ranked by PK%, best to worst, and their corresponding FO% rank while shorthanded:
- San Jose (4th)
- Washington (14th)
- Dallas (8th)
- Boston (28th)
- Tampa Bay (6th)
- Calgary (22nd)
- Arizona (15th)
- Edmonton (26th)
- Carolina (25th)
- Chicago (20th)
- Philadelphia (1st)
- St. Louis (9th)
- Pittsburgh (31st)
- Columbus (12th)
- Vancouver (2nd)
- Ottawa (3rd)
- New Jersey (30th)
- NY Islanders (23rd)
- Vegas (13th)
- Colorado (27th)
- Florida (5th)
- NY Rangers (24th)
- Montreal (18th)
- Anaheim (17th)
- Minnesota (29th)
- Toronto (16th)
- Los Angeles (11th)
- Buffalo (19th)
- Nashville (10th)
- Winnipeg (21st)
- Detroit (7th)
Half of the top-10 PK teams have bottom-10 FO%. The best FO% team, and only team above 50% on them while short handed, is 11th in PK. The worst PK team in the league has 29 fewer FO wins, 32 more losses, and has given up a whopping....three....more goals. Much like every other aspect of hockey, FO% has a negligible impact over time.

1st-4th: best offensive player that isn't a RB
5th-7th: best offensive player
I'm only kinda joking. A DE is definitely a position that could be upgraded, and it's a real need if they don't re-sign Shaq. CB depth could be improved, as could OLB. But holy hell, if I go through another season of "you can't evaluate Josh because he doesn't have enough help" I may spontaneously combust.
