  1. It looks like we get all the bubble guys, and the bare minimum of eight NHL vets.

Media reporting O'Reilly is out, probably Eichel as well.

Bylsma said he would be in tough to pick the vets — assuming that's because he wants to dress the starting lineup Friday and doesn't want anyone to play three in a row.

I think you'll see most of these guys for sure:

    Larsson Girgensons McGinn

    Rodrigues C. O'Reilly Akeson

    Kaleta Schaller Ellis

    Donovan Guhle/Ruhwedel

    Colaiacovo McCabe

    Austin/Leduc

    Johnson

Not sure if all the bolded qualify as vets, but most should.

On the plus side, this might be the last time we ever see Matty Ellis in a Sabres uni.

(And I will definitely want a stream, please and thank you, even though I won't be able to pick it up until late.)

I certainly hope it's the last time we see Ellis.
  2. I liked the pairing too; the only thing is Peters has to learn to keep quiet when Dunleavy is calling the play, he cut Dan off several times with little interjections. (He's still too much of a fan; maybe he needs to mute his mic while the play is going.)

I was saying the same to my wife. There is a time for him to talk. Dun, seemed almost annoyed.

I just think he might be an upgrade over Legwand plus cheaper. Remember Legwand was a throw in with the trade.

Exactly. He thinks he is a top 6, in reality a 4th line/top line AHL.
  3. The players talked about how fast practice was yesterday, I took the fam today, and wow. What a difference it was compared to last year. The coaching staff had the players flying. A lot of communication on the ice between players. We are on the brink of something special.

  4. I will bang the drum to go back to the royal blue into I am royal blue in the face but having said that, are there not going to be any 3rd jerseys for Buffalo this year? Anyone see this contest winner?

    Love it.....

Loved them to , would be a nice 3rd jersey :P

Loved the red thirds we had as well.

  5. Just perusing StubHub prices on Sabres games in October shows some games as low as $19.  Other games as low as $15. Even a Friday night game vs. the Flyers is going for as little as $23. That's a little disappointing as it shows that folks are taking a wait-and-see attitude with the team. To them the "Tank" isn't quite over.

I bought my mini -pack last month, couldn't have cared less on the price. I want to be there for the turn around.

  6. Kane, ROR, Eichel, Moulson, Ennis, Zemgus, Reinhart, Foligno, Gionta. Where do Nick Baptiste and Justin Bailey fit into that top 9? Because playing guys like them on the 4th line giving them 8minutes a night is worthless. So you have to remove 1-2 players in the top nine. My top nine doesn't account McGinn, Legwand, or Deslauriers who all could potentially make that top 9.

Further to my point, Tim Murray is not having 4 of 9 forwards be rookies. This isn't the Oilers. So now you have to convince me they will play on the 4th line. Well let's see... we have McCormick, possibly Kaleta and also the other 3 guys I just mentioned. Now you might be able to convince me on a message board that Bailey or Baptiste is better than those 5 players or as good, but Dan Bylsma is not going to convince Murray. It is the wrong way to handle players of their caliber. Bailey and Baptiste are not at NHL speed. Adjusting to the AHL will be tough enough and they may spend 2 years there or maybe even never see the NHL.

Bailey and Baptiste are not Jack Eichel or Samson Reinhart. They played great against the NJD prospects. The NJD have serious prospect talent issues coming their way so not exactly a good measure. It is exactly like in college football a few years ago everyone was all ga ga over ND and how they were going to beat Alabama with Mante Teo leading the charge. That Alabama team was on a different level, just like our prospects. Nick and Justin are going to Rochester because prospects are on a lower level then NHL players.

I read your note about you expecting them there, they will be there. Justin Bailey and Nick Baptiste are not starting in Buffalo unless the injury bug from hell ravages us. They are going where they belong, Rochester NY.

Very articulate response, and 100% correct. They need to ease into the NHL, and Roch is the place to do it. They will get the minutes they need to prepare for the NHL. I see maybe one year, and next year making the roster.

I was going to argue Boxers or Briefs but this seemed more fun.

I'll take em in either :)
  7. Good signing. Short term, fair cash even. Will help on PP (as has been said many times) and should be able to play consistent 3rd pair minutes.

Top 6 looking like - Bogosian, Pysyk, Ristolainen, Gorges, Franson and Weber. Improved from last year.

I would hope either MC, or Pysk rounder out one of those bottom six with Franson. I think Weber is the 7th.
  8. I'm the opposite. It's a good thing hockey and the NFL run through a good chunk of winter, or I'd lose my mind. I hate the dark, and the cold.

Separately, can't believe you're going to the opener, you lucky bastard. Between the bachelor party, weddings, and Bills games, I will be dead broke come Christmas, And it only gets worse in the next few years, I've about 7 weddings coming up in two years; fun, but expensive.

I am excited, just moved home after 20 years. For the first time ever have tickets to both openers. Still 1500 on the waiting list for Sabres seasons :(

  9. 10 lbs of added muscle over the summer? 205 lbs. with lower body fat? This guy is a beast!

He's also mature beyond his years. Can't wait to see him get started. Thanks for the link.

    GO SABRES!!!

Being in the spotlight the last few years has certainly helped, and some dam good parenting. Funny how solid parenting leads to productive kids.
