  1. I think in 5 years Buffalo will be nowhere to be seen on this list.  Two reasons:

    1. The Sabres will be a top-contending team.

    2. The Buffalo renaissance.

(You may scoff at #2, but as a Buffalo ex-pat I pay close attention to national coverage of the city and it's totally changed over the last year or two from "Ha ha Buffalo!" to "Oooh look - Buffalo.  How cool!"  And when I've traveled there recently it's actually kind of a night-and-day shock with how much better the city is than what it was, say, 10 years ago.)

#2 is exactly why I am leaving DC, and moving back. #1 is well Buffalo is home.
  2. I agree that it's probably a little ridiculous how I'm reacting but the he's only 19 powwow was a little ridiculous, too. He deserves some criticism and questioning for these actions. It hasn't been just one incident.

The "I want him to get in trouble more" stuff is straight garbage. That's the stupidest point I've read around here in a long time. This isn't "personality." It's immaturity. However you want to look at it it's not a positive.

I'm not sorry for having the unpopular opinions around here. Thankfully some can deal with it better than others.

I for one love unpopular opinions.....

"NEWS: The Sabres have recalled Jake McCabe and Mark Pysyk from theRochester Americans."

It is about time. I would rather these guys get ice time versus Meszaros, or Benoit. I admit Benoit hasn't been too bad as of late, but I feel McCabe, and Pysyk are ready.

  3. It may have been a little different than the norm for him considering the "issues". He also said that he enjoyed being approached by the fans as he was out, and about. Buffalo is a different town as the poster earlier stated.

  4. Mike Green is out there as a big-ticket free agent.

Not a big fan, but he would help the power play.

He's shown flashes and definitely has talent. But mostly, yeah.

The thing is, who are the other choices? Niemi might be better, but he's not the long-term answer and will be expensive.

The other guys out there are mostly just versions of Neuvirth.

Murray's really backed himself into a corner.

I think Neuvirth can play the #1, I also believe Makarov will be brought up as competition, or the #2.  I don't see any reason to sign a big money FA. As far as Grigorenko is concerned, I would like to see him get a shot at some playing time. He definitely deserves it.  Flynn, Ellis, and Larsson should be permanently be placed in Roch.

  5. Ellis has no business on this team (he reminds me of Chris Taylor). Mezzaros needs to be put on waivers, Larson does not belong up(reminds me of Luke Adam). I would rather see Grigorenko up and playing 2nd/3rd line minutes.

So Nolan's just that incompetent then? Was he like this when he was with the Isels/Sabres before?

He is a great motivator, but not an Xs, and Os guy. This team needs that. I wouldn't be surprised if Trottier takes over the team next year.

  6. I don't recall any. I remember him as being pretty well liked and supported. If his time here was incident free, I wonder if having him reach out to Kane as a team ambassador to share his experience might help with any issues Kane faced in Winnipeg?

I wouldn't think so. Well then again Chris Stuart isn't a white guy either.

    Man, I remember that incident.
  7. I've had it.

Look, I'm no huge MAG fan, but if we're going to start threads about shedding players, let's start shedding the ones who most need to get out of blue and gold sweaters.

Honestly, I have no idea why, after ONE decent (and only decent) season, Regier saw fit to give this floater a 4M contract. He does some stupid things during most games, and that's when he bothers to do anything at all. LIke years past, he won't reach for a puck that's three feet away from him (I guess that if it's not right on his tape, it's not worth going after).

Yeah, once in a while, he'll stick up for a teammate--most notably, Drury, when Staff was still fighting for a spot with the team. But generally, there is no effort, no heart, and whatever skill he has is wasted because he simply skates around.

Connolly 2.0 (but, to my knowledge, without the drinks).

Get rid of this guy ASAP. There is a team out there that thinks that Stafford is a good player who "just needs a change of scenery." Find that team, and make a trade.

he is gone.....funny how long this thread has survived. Now what?

EDIT: Yes, I saw the pass to Ennis. Nice. Freaking Korab could have made that pass. For that matter, KorabRules probably could have made that pass.

  8. Ennis - Grigorenko - Armia

    Moulson - Reinhart - (2015 Draftee)

    Hodgson - Girgensons - Gionta

    Foligno - Larsson - Deslauriers

    Gorges - Myers

    Zadorov - Ristolainen

    McCabe - Pysyk

    Extra Forwards - Schaller, McCormick

    7th D = Mike Weber

    Gone

    Flynn (RFA)

    Mitchell (UFA)

    Benoit (UFA)

    Meszaros (UFA)

    Stafford (UFA)

    Stewart (UFA)

    Kaleta (UFA)

Only one out of the lot I would re-sign is Kaleta.

  9. Yes I'm talking about the car, for those with minds in the gutter *cough chz cough* ;)

I recently bought a WRX and its a stick, and I just wanted to get a a feel for those who prefer manual shifting vs auto.

Auto is nice for eating while driving and extracurricular activities, however I've got my multi tasking while driving down to a fine art in the subaru.

    Rant away

I would never drive anything but a standard. Love having the ability to control my car like you can in a standard. My commute into DC is a pain in the As@, but wouldn't trade it for the world.

  10. Hope you are getting your vocal chords warmed up. Not there yet but looking like a great call

Absolutely, He deserves a spot this season. He has worked hard to get to this point, most kids his age would have given up after the trials and tribulations Grigo was put through.
