  1. xGF is saying the same thing about us it has said for years, that we don't meet the level of even average teams when it comes to scoring chance generation over long periods of time. It was plainly obvious in film last year (and the year before and the year before and so on) so I'm sure in a film review (which I will most certainly not be doing because I'm goddamn tired of Sabres hockey) you'd be able to figure out what the problem is.
  2. That chart tells me we are 11th in save percentage, which isn't mediocre.
  3. What are you talking about? They won games last year too. Last year they beat a BETTER Red Wings team than this one by a score of 7-1, in that same building, even after all the losing they closed the season out with. Nothing about any single NHL game can represent an "upgrade" or a "downgrade" from any season. It's a strange comparison to try and make in a league where any given thing can happen any given night. The tank Sabres beat the Tampa Bay Lightning more than once.
  4. FLA has a top 3 group of forwards in the NHL. Great job keeping them in check.
  5. Where you at Jack
  6. I had no idea the refs are allowed to arbitrarily do that.
  7. JLarsson got away with one there.
  8. This horn with Lorentz in the booth...
  9. I'm a bit of a goal horn junkie and am quite certain I haven't heard them use it in the 2010s. Only 45% sure I heard it today. Let's hope for 4 more opportunities to check.
  10. Am I crazy or did they stick that old addition back onto the goal horn? The echoing horn/whistle thing? If so, chills. If if you're not sure what I'm talking about YouTube the Drury tying goal and any Eichel goal and you'll hear it. could just be wishful thinking.
  11. Tre White was just named first team All Pro. He's one of just 4 Buffalo Bills players to win the honor since the 90s ended - Moorman twice, Spikes in 2004, And Dareus & Mario in 2014. Well deserved. He's been ridiculously good this year. Leads the NFL in picks with Gilmore, and has no touchdowns allowed in 81 targets, while being 2nd in passes broken up. He has more than 30 more targets than the next most targeted CB to not allow a TD.
  12. Yeah, definitely the guy i'm picturing.
  13. I remember Teddy Purcell (someone who trains with Jack or something) on Spittin' Chiclets this fall or summer mentioning that Jack's shot got a lot better this summer. I dismissed it as things anyone would say about the guy they train with. But he was right. I wonder what Jack did. He's absolutely nailing that spot 2 feet off the ice, just inside the goal post this season.
  14. He has 23 points in 13 games against Colorado. I would suspect it has more to do with collective team defense than the 1C of the other team. And Larry seems to play him well quite a bit Also I just looked and the Sabres and Predators are the only teams that have held him under a point per game in his career. We own McDavid's lowest point per game mark in the entire NHL.
  15. Nah, there's a guy who will come along when news comes out that Conor Sheary missed practice due to the birth of his daughter and leave a "Botterill must be fired immediately for this"
  16. Didn't think of Skinner once during the game. Not sure what that means
  17. Best running gag currently on the board
  18. For the record, I don't think these numbers mean anything at all. But they combine with the continued malaise of each franchise (and Jack's fantastic abilities) to make me far less pained that we lost that lottery than I ever imagined being.
  19. Against the Oilers, Eichel has 6 goals and 11 points in 9 games. Against the Sabres, McDavid has 3 goals and 8 points in 9 games. The Sabres are 6-3-1 against the Oilers since the McEichel draft.
  20. He'll just jump ship when Tom and Bill are gone like the rest of them
  21. The Sabres have put me in a dark (sports) place, and Jack's demeanor through all of the last two seasons is something that's keeping me away from the edge of the (sports) cliff. I am very grateful for him on many levels 3v3 might not be hockey, but it's guaranteed entertainment
  22. Low 80s are still unthought of heights when we've reached them one time since 2012!
  23. He was so out there and outlandish that I'd just as soon attribute that to luck rather than astute analysis
  24. Nod to Ralph for that strategy paying off. Of course I probably railed on Phil when he did this with Sobotka last year, so nevermind, ur so dumb Ralph!
  25. I was pretty surprised they called it, because if there was hand contact it was brief.
