  1. Drop your hat and I'll feel better if Gerbe, Ellis and Vanek are not part of the team next year. That assumes I am getting a player back for Vanek who can score and can skate at the NHL level. If either Stafford or Roy leaves for value I would be okay also. However, I'll give Roy a pass, as having a tendon torn off the bone is a MAJOR injury for I smaller player wh depends on speed.
  2. I don’t think they are that technical, but I am no where near your knowldege on the firearms side. They are good action novels, with some good covert insight.
  3. Read um. You'll love Vince Flynn and his main character Mitch Rapp.
  4. You know the answer to your question and like me feel it is a resounding NO. I'd bet more than 75% of the teams in this league wouldn't have him on the roster. Does the name Jody Gage mean anything to you? For those of you too young to remember that Rochester player, please google him. For those of you, like me who hear Gerbe's Tuesday spot on WGR, he sounds like a great kid and I would luv him to be successful in the NHL. But as a guy who watched Bisons games when I cut my teeth on Buffalo hockey, I'm past being sentimental. I've lived thru 42 years of no cup. He's making millions. Good for him, now get me players. Frankly, that goes for outsiders like Black and Pegula. My patience has run very thin. They need to "walk the walk, not talk the talk."
  5. I can't disagree with trueblues points and its a very level headed post. This is a fun discussion. Check out link to Canucks team page. I think most will be surprised to see their over-all size( and yes I know they all inflate the numbers). http://canucks.nhl.com/club/roster.htm
  6. I know Gerbe plays 100% and I love him for it. I just don't think it's possible to win the cup with too many small men, especially when we are soft over-all. We'd be doing his career a favor if we got him to a team like the Flyers or a big western team like SJ. This is more of a knock on the Sabres in general, than Gerbe in particular. Hey if he's part of a cup winner here, I'll be glad to eat crow.
  7. I was talkiing Gerbe, so not sure of the Briere link. Yea, I've been next to him too, and 5'8" might be a stretch.. To Gerbe, I'll let him develop, but I really need more offense soon. All these comparisons to small players of the past.. He IS the smallest in the NHL and no one has been this small since Fluery. And as Weave said, he produced almost from day one. Look, I'm not a Gerbe hater. He's a great story, but why must Buffalo be the home for misfits? Darcy is so smart that he can ignore the size trend that everyone else picked up on 4 years ago? He is the smallest player in the NHL on one of, if not the smallest teams in the NHL. And what size we have is soft. It just doesn't work or make sense. We're not talking Briere's height. He's 5'4" if he's an inch. And inexplicably, Lindy the genius likes to put him on the wing with Roy or Ennis. First time I saw him live was one of, if not his first games up against SJ. Linde, has him with Roy, and with the last change, was matching them against Thornton. I thought I was in the twilight zone.
  8. I agree with all you've said. And while I want to see him do well and help this team, you can't take a roster spot in this NHL with those dimensions unless you are a real difference maker on the score sheet when it comes to offensive production. That stature just results in too many other liabilities in his game IMO.
  9. Bored watching golf, so did a little research. By my count, the 5 guys you mentioned have palyed 81 seasons with two cup wins total, with Verbeek and Fluery each having 1. Peca is listed at 5'11" and 190lbs. and Verbeek at 5'9" ,190lbs. I know they inflate numbers but I don't think Ennis at 165lbs. or Gerbe at 5'4" compare. Sorry! Fluery's Calgary team was one of the biggest in the NHL at the time he played with them..
  10. Overall he's minus 3. Frankly better than I thought. He lit us up last year, and ended up -7 for the playoffs. Lucic, who we love to hate, was +11 for the playoffs last year.
  11. I thought I was agreeing with the bulk of your post.. My point was that if they try to play the game on the wall against the 215 pounder who is working as hard as they are, they can't win that battle all night long. And you have to win the battle for position in open ice, in both zones and in front of the net also. Yea, I know those guys you mentioned were tough. And you've named some of the best small guys in the last 20 years. And I'm talking about THE CUP. Four rounds and EVERYONE playing balls-to-the-wall the deeper you go. Sorry, I can't put Ennis or little Gerbe there with the guys you mentioned yet. Can you in all honesty? And when big skilled guys play with the same heart as small skilled guys, who's going to win the battle? Couple that with several on the same team. Yea Briere has good offensive numbers in the playoffs. Now check his +/-! We aren't discussing this in a vacumn. You needed to underline the next line I wrote. Do you work in the media? They love to take things out of context!
  12. Short lightweights can ONLY play a lightweight game. That's simple physics unfortunately and I believe you can have too many of them. It's about going deep into the playoffs and staying healthy to win the cup.. . What you don't want is TOO many bigger guys who play like lightweights also. This team is short on bigger guys, and most of them play that game and big on small guys. Heck, even Kaleta plays much bigger than his frame, and that is why he's out so often. These little guys heads are at big guys elbow level and that does concern me.
  13. No. Just new last month. First time on any board. Frustration got the best of me.
  14. Hey. We've come to a common theme. I'm fine with two small gutsy guys. I think we'd both be thrilled to get them some "nasty" to play with. It's tuff and impossible for them to be paired together in this NHL. They need to be on diiferent lines with SIZE! Together it's just too tough, despite their hearts which are bigger than they are!!!!------ I loved Eddie!!!
  15. THis the was real point. I loved the 2006 game but the current rule enforcement won't allow it.
  16. As to my avatar. Do you know he is? I uesed to watch him play Santa for the leafs in the 60's when I was 5 years old. The best story was when he was on the ice for most of his shift when he skated by the bench and asked Punch Imlach what position he was playing. It was a much better league in those days. I think you would have loved it. It's made me a fan for life. Trust me, I'd love to watch skaters(small Men) show their skill. The league won't allow it IMO. You are forced to be big and I want to win a cup!
  17. Nothing hard. The two of them playing together, we won't win a cup. So pick one. It's a big man's league. I choose Ennis. Iv'e been watching this for a long time and paying for season tiks for 32 years. I trust my opinion. Sorry kids!
  18. Wasn't Ennis out of the lineup before he came back in as a centre? Please, make sense. So before Gerbe was twice as good. So. now he's not. Easy to be better than someone not playing. Don't think so?
  19. No, at the game. Where you can see it! Nice lips. Think I saw you at Animal Kingdom?
  20. You are welcome to your opinion. I'm looking at building a cup winner.
  21. Sorry, I disagree. Gerbe can't play in NHL for 75% of teams in this league. He's a cute story and is a mature man compared to Ennis. Ennis has huge upside; pure speed, vision and hands. Three things you need as a small player. You can't ignore the fact that Gerbe is an average size peewee player in stature. This is THE elite professional league. You can't have a player on your team just for the shoot out.-=====- And taking a hit to make a play is huge, IMO. You need to watch hockey more if you don't think size matters. Do you watch the playoffs when your Sabres are out? Just curious as to your perspective, as hockey does not start until April.
  22. Just look for arrogant posts, and it's likely to be JW. Yapper!!! :worthy:
