  1. I am not sure that the trade rumors around Brown wasn't just a way for the Kings to wake Brown up and have him play the game they want him to play. He's been wildly inconsistent for them for almost a decade, the way he played in the playoffs is the Dustin Brown they want and need, the toe-dragging, finesse set up man that he tries to be sometimes is not.
  2. Leading the Sabres in Game Winning goals last year? Vanek and Pominville tied with 5. Vanek is 4th all time on the list of Sabres game winning goals. So I agree, Venek does not score important goals.
  3. Funny how different eyes see different things. Stafford is one of the last players I'd move off the Sabres. Matt Ellis on the other hand.... I wouldn't move him just to move him, but right now he is the easiest player to replace on the roster I think.
  4. I thought Hawerchuck
  5. Lionel Messi wins the Ballon d’Or for a mind boggling and record setting fourth straight time. If he brings the World Cup home for Argentina in 2014, I think you'd have to give him the title of best footballer of all time. I never thought Maradona would be touched, but Messi is getting awfully close.
  6. Hahaha! That would be quite awesome
  7. I yearn for the day when Sepp Blatter is no longer involved in football and instead is dedicating his days to (unsuccessfully) avoiding an.al intercourse in a poorly maintained Polish jail.
  8. By this thread I mean this thread. A much better thread for the gun control discussion is the Presidential Politics thread that has evolved into a thread for politics. This thread would in my opinion be best served as a place for people to express their grief at what has just happened. And of course, the events today are very relevant to the political discussion.
  9. Not to take any side for or against gin control, but I don't think this thread is the place for that discussion. Today is an unspeakable, incomprehensible and deeply sickening tragedy. It pushes on the boundaries of what I can process and take in. God bless the people directly effected.
  10. I assume you will et to pick avatar(s) for the six months after his first post election post? Either way, it's quite amusing that he has not shown off his new Obama with the cup avatar yet. I count the hightailing from the board as dishounarable discharge any way, or as we say in the old country: Rise like a lion, fall like a pelt.
  11. I think the original idea is to be thankful that you can stuff your face.
  12. Not the best goal ever, if Hart wasn't so hopelessly out of position it would probably be the best goal ever scored, as it stands, hitting the empty net with a 30 yard overhead kick is amazing, but it's not the best goal ever. I refer to several other goals that have been referenced in this thread already :) As for what goal is the best ever, I would like to nominate Van Basten's impossible volley against the Soviet Union, or Hagi's long range strike in 94 against Colombia.
  13. In that case, isn't the 2016 election already settled? Must be discouraging to know that everyone who voted Democrat in this election will do so again in 4 years. There's always 2020 I guess, unless of course the rumors are true and by 2016 America has been turned into an Obama run Marxist dictatorship.
  14. If you are referring to me, I don't particularly like or dislike him personally. I do think the message he is sending out these days is exactly what the Republican party needs though. That said, you are right that I would never vote for him, just as in 2012 I will not be an American citizen in 2016.
  15. I think you'll find that many people rejected Romney not because he was perceived as super conservative, but rather as a guy who was difficult to trust because of massive position shifting, and a guy out of touch with what living in America today is like for many people. Even if Romney himself tried to brand himself as severely conservative, I don't know if too many people bought it.
  16. Word on the street is that Mike Weber has signed for Lørenskog in the Norwegian Elite Leauge, and is as far as I know the first NHL player to sign in Norway since the lockout. I predict he will be the best player in the league, and lead the league in goals, assists, penalty minutes and minutes played. His new GM says Mike Weber is a 'sheriff' in his own zone.
  17. You got it, looks like a double touch from the Argentine attacker on the video, but in real life the ball is flicked up by the English defender ( a grievous mistake in it's own right). As for your second point, I could misunderstand you but if you are comparing Maradona to Roenick I am putting you in the ignore filter. Please confirm or deny.
  18. As someone who has lived under both a socialized health care system and the American model, I prefer the socialized system. In my opinion, healthcare coverage needs to be decoupled from employment status in the US as soon as possible. People who don't work still need healthcare, and passing on insurance premiums to employers is adding undue cost to doing business. It's a ridiculous model that invites enormous waste and inefficiencies.
  19. The goal is legal since the ref didn't call it a hand ball. It most certainly should have been disallowed, but it wasn't. In fact, the goal in combination with the other famous goal from the same half has come to symbolize perfectly the duality of Maradona. Say whatever you like about him, but scoring the best goal in history, and the most controversial goal in history in the same half.. As for the offside question: No, he is never offside on the play, so at least there is that.
  20. As much as it pains me as a Norwegian to admit, the Swede scored a great goal. Greatest goal ever? Now, I'll give you a pass since the euphoria is still strong since it happened yesterday. Funny though how the worlds best goal always seems to be scored against England?
  21. Lionel Messi is absolutely fantastic. If he brings a world cup to Argentina he will have to be ranked in the top three all time.
  22. I have made every attempt to harden my heart to the NHL, but I have to admit that I miss it quite a bit more than I would like.
  23. Ouch! Don't like what I am reading, and I particularly don't like that I am reading it. If this spills back into the public like this, I am not very confident a deal is forthcoming. Also, if this memo is a somewhat faithful to the truth I understand why these negotiations are hard, seems like the owners are really pushing the owners hard on all fronts.
  24. But who created the codexes? Did God himself in his wisdom see a need to insert ambiguity and thus uncertainty from the get go, or are the codexes created by sinful and unregenerate people?
