But, I do seem to remember the Ottawa series in 2006 when Lindy went off script, they carried the puck in, and then chipped it behind Chara and Redden and pounded those guys whenever they were on the ice. Redden got so frustrated that he started going behind the net with his elbows up near his ears, and by the time Chara adjusted, the series was over.

If you think welfare is a dirty word. Which politics has made it. But SSI pays widows, orphans, disabled, and supplements income (or in many cases is the only income for the retired) and for many pays well beyond their 6.2 percent contributions. . I'm not afraid to call it welfare, and I don't think there should be anything shameful about the word.
-
It is only a political nicety in my opinion. Think of it this way, how many Americans would be in poverty without social security and Medicare, Medicaid. . . . . Though they aren't always means tested, they are welfare by most economic definitions.
-
It is by definition. Welfare and the social safety net doesn't have to be a poverty program.

True.

I see Pysyk as an extremely important part of the D that Bylsma likes to play. In the short term more important than Zadorof.

McDavid could promise the Oilers that he's leaving after 3 years by signing an offer sheet. But I don't think there is anything eichle could do himself.

Good for Phil if he gets it.But, I have a feeling it won't last long. He'll have the transition tag from the start. -

I take that back, I liked it once to taunt Laviolette who was the USA coach, and once when Miller returned from the Olympics. That was nice.. But chanting USA when half the team is Canadian has just has always struck me as silly. -

I'm a huge fan of USA Hockey. but.......I don't think I've ever enjoyed USA chants at NHL games. -
Sniff. Beautiful, man.

I'm not sure is Eichel will put up heroic numbers in the combine. But the kid looks crazy strong playing hockey.
-
I like that Bylsma is hired. He can sit in on the interviews.

1. Should Buffalo be the hub for USA hockey? (Team USA, Juniors, Women, Sled, etc). (yes/no) 2. What should be forum shorthand for Dan Bylsma, just DB or DDB for Disco Dan Bylsma)? 3. How many years will Dan Bylsma last in Buffalo? 4. As a percentage, the chance a Dan Bylsma led Buffalo Sabres make the playoffs in 2015-16? 5. Finish the sentence. Hey Dan, welcome to town, just beware of ____________________ .

Don't get me wrong, Sekera can flip the ice.. I'm just thinking of who Murray might want given the style DDB wants to play. I don't think Sekera would be top of the list. -

I don't know if I see it. Though Sekera was great skating the puck up ice, he wasn't the best up-ice passer. I wouldn't be against it though. -

The one thing that stuck out to me, and there wasn't much, was the answer to what Bylsma plans to do about possession numbers. I paraphrase: "It all starts with quick transitions in the defensive zone." This is pretty much the opposite of Ted Nolan, who tethered the defense to their own goal line. I think Disco will emphasize the two touch transition. The last Sabres who were really good at it were Campbell and Teppo. If this is the case look for Murray to find a puck mover through a trade, or through the draft. -

I hate to say it, but that was a boring start. Still I welcome it. I'm embracing the Disco. -

I wonder how this sits with the NHLPA. To have a RFA market, there needs to be a certain amount of liquidity when it comes to players and picks. If coaches and administration are going to tie up picks, then that really dries up any RFA liquidity and the signing of offer sheets.
