  1. Me too. Western conference....so giving a point to San Jose Selachimorpha matters little.
  2. I think there is a distinction. Even Chara wasn't an immediate impact player. He struggled his first year in Boston. Long term he's been the cornerstone of their franchise. BTW - Ottawa let him go for nuttin - They chose Wayne Redden. Although in fairness, when Chara was available, the Sabres were capped out.
  3. Florida was pretty firm on getting a top 15 pick. He was looking more and more like a tired Olli Jokinen in Florida with shifts off and no more physicality than Al Kotalik. The Bruins trade looks great at the moment.
  4. They could have had Horton on a 1 year contract for the 13th pick (Zack Kassian).
  5. Taking another look. It seems to me that the only person near McCormick is the Ref. Butler looks a little slow moving back for weak-side help, but he is still a pretty safe pass. The third option could have been to swallow a hit which allows everyone to come back. The pass he made defies explanation in my mind, but I think that's why he was raising the what-the-helldid-Ijustdo hands as it hit Horton's tape. But I think it was ugly all around as you imply. Which suggests mis-communication. Nobody looked to be moving well for those few seconds.
  6. You are kinder to Weber than I am. I thought he had had McCormick on the wall, and and easy slide back to Butler behind the net. They weren't moving well, but they were both open. Gaustad should be breaking high, for the second transition pass from McCormick.(I think) I just think Weber just thought Gaustad was wide open. He doesn't make that pass otherwise. It didn't look like he was in trouble to me. But that was how I saw it, which isn't always how a player feels it.
  7. I don't know about The Stand, but I'm pretty sure he was in the Green Mile.
  8. Boston is a mature team. Really they are only playing the NJ Devils Transition Trap which Julien brought in, but surprisingly they forechecked more last night than I've seen them play in the last few years. Chara must have played close to 33 minutes. Which is his number. Unreal.
  9. because of your thread I've been watching. Why is it the Zombies get to throw as many people over the boards as they like? If you ask me it doesn't look like anybody is calling the game at all. I enjoyed it, but I had a hard time with Noah Emmerich being cast as the last living Government Employee/Scientist. BTW...Jeff Demunn who plays the old guy and is a great character is from Buffalo.
  10. Does Recchi have a grandfather clause? He seems to be able to play by the late 90's rules. How was his take down of Myers not a hold? It looked like a hand from behind without position.
  11. Not saying it wasn't a dumb-ass play, it was just atypical.
  12. On Weber: If he sees Horton he doesn't make that play. Weber plays a pretty safe game. In all the games I've seen with him, I would say that is an atypical mistake.
  13. I really don't have a problem with how they played. Boston is a very good looking team right now, and still beatable. I want the Nathan Gerbe experiment to end.
  14. Laser shot tipped in by Recchi right in front. If not unstoppable it was at least an extremely hard one to stop. Tough to play the shot and the re-direct.
  15. Is she's gonna get us two points, I'm a team player.
  16. Nope. All goals are beautiful.
  17. Adam had a Andreychuck in the muck goal. One with eyes. Vanek scored behind the goal-line on a nifty bank of Thomas's shoulder as he was trying to slide to cover the post.
  18. Re: all road points are good point even if they are ugly. That game was won on the Sabres Backcheck. I thought Vanek was the best forward backchecker. I've never written that before. Incidentally, Luke Adam did a good job getting back, but was ineffective because he was staring at the puck. Find a body and lift a stick, rook.
  19. I hate hate hate hate hate that new species of junk mail that looks like a government check, but is really an advertisement for Billy Shluck's Haiyatsu and Dodge once you open it.
