Yea its an interesting idea. But then who should that would be fair/unbiased and have the qualifications? My hope is that the youngest generations are growing up with a lower tolerance for racism, power abusing police, etc. and its something that just stops over time.

ha name of the game :) Its a grand jury, that is our system, and this is what they decided. edit: there are some reforms needed no doubt (for both police issues and these separate legal justice issues), I just don't know where to start. Both are very very very tough subjects.

I just said it shouldn't be automatic and it is a gray area for a reason. A choke hold that unforeseeably (in my opinion) leads to death is in that gray area for me personally. I can see both sides completely, and wouldn't be surprised with either outcome. I am just on the side of no charges and I think its a tougher decision than most people want to think. Just like the Ferguson case, which i know very little about it, but it looks like an extremely tough case and decision. But I get your side. I see the benefits of extending it to everyone and making a bright line rule, I just tend to favor discretion and gray areas. I don't think that should extend to everyone because there would no doubt be a situation (100 percent positive) where someone would get punished when they didn't deserve it

I get that opinion and can respect that. I just don't like taking steps towards something I don't want. I don't want to be ever in a position that if i violate a code of conduct and someone indirectly dies, I would face criminal charges if that makes sense haha edit: like the cop camera debate. I don't ever want to wear a camera, so I don't want to take any steps towards that

I think cops should be held to the same standard as everyone else (however there has to be realistic discretion for them to be able to do there job). I am not okay with them being held to a higher standard for criminal law, no way. Right now there is no doubt they are held to a lower standard sadly 1) Safety Rule in Place, 2) violation of the rule, 3) someone dead shouldn't be a black and white issue. The cop didn't know he had medical issues, and probably 999/1000 people who watch that video don't foresee death. I'm not saying what he did was right, it was 100% wrong, but murder charges are serious and I understand how this could go either way. That's all. Very sad though :/ I'm also against cops wearing cameras for similar reasons!

I understand that, and while it may not sound great, just because someone violates a rule of his job and it ends up killing someone, that shouldn't mean automatic charges. That would be a scary and poor precedent in itself
-
I hear you, I just think in this case its a close call after watching the video. I do think the cop was 100% wrong, it should be tolerated, and things have to change. It is a a bit tougher than people want to think though. That's kind of my point, while they get tried a lot, its a tough gray area for a prosecutor. They aren't easy decisions
-
I agree it was uncalled for and shouldn't be tolerated. However, I don't think you can charge someone with murder for that in my opinion. He should be disciplined for sure
-
I understand what you are saying hank and it's sound advice. With that being said people do have rights and cops do have guidelines. As for the cigarette case, it was gross to watch physical force in that situation, the victim seemed fully in their rights. However if I was arguing for the cop, in no way is a brief chokehold meant to be lethal.

So I'm trying to find young trade targets and I saw this name thrown around on other websites and it makes to much sense. Brett Connonlly (RW) of the lightning. He is out of waiver options there so he has to be on the nhl roster and they just don't have room from him. He was the 6th overall pick in the 2010 draft and is only 22 years old. He is at that tweener stage where he is too good for the ahl (60 point seasons in 2012 and 2013) but needs ice time in the nhl. http://www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=23297

oh please get a grip. The asteroid would just hit our prospects (each and everyone one of them). Life wouldn't end, that's to easy. -
I think balt beating sd would have helped us more, but a little too early to worry about that. Win next week, then things should be so much more clear

I will say this as much as I don't like Hackett, credit to the players for not giving up on the season after some brutal losses this year. And credit also has to go to Marrone for that. We have a truly elite defense with depth, it's a shame our offense isn't at least average. Also 7 wins for the first time since 2008 I think, and we haven't gotten 8 wins since 2004 (again, I think). Playoffs or not, let's get a winning season please

Him and mccabe are interesting trade baits. Both have top 4 upside but pysyk is blocked by myers/risto and mccabe is blocked by gorges/zads.
