  2. March 14, 2006 Facebook Share Twitter Share LinkedIn Share Link Share Email Share GAME: Buffalo Sabres (42-16-5) at Washington Capitals (22-34-7). TIME: Tuesday, 7 p.m. EST. Looking to move into a tie atop the Northeast Division, the Buffalo Sabres go for their season high-tying seventh straight win when they visit the struggling Washington Capitals. The Sabres earned their third winning streak of at least six games with a 6-2 victory over Boston on Sunday. Thomas Vanek scored two goals and added an assist for Buffalo, which won seven in a row from Dec. 4-19. "That's why we're a good team," said Buffalo center Daniel Briere, who saw his eight-game point streak come to an end. "We keep finding ways to win and there's no doubt it doesn't matter who scores. ... The depth of our team is what makes the difference and it showed tonight." The Sabres' depth is particularly evident when it comes to offense. Buffalo's 220 goals are third-most in the Eastern Conference, with 10 players scoring at least 10 goals and three with at least 20. Vanek, a 22-year-old rookie, is tied for the team lead with Ales Kotalik with 23 goals. Vanek has scored four times in the last four games, although he's been held without a point in four consecutive road contests. He has only eight goals in 30 road games this season. The Sabres are in fourth place in the conference, nine points ahead of fifth-place Philadelphia, but continue to push the Ottawa Senators for first place in the Northeast. Buffalo is two points behind Ottawa, which hosts Tampa Bay on Tuesday. Buffalo will be facing a Capitals team that it has dominated of late, winning six of the last seven meetings while outscoring Washington 34-14 during that span. https://www.nhl.com/news/sabres-capitals-preview/c-102210
  3. That would be a lot of broken goalie sticks! He used to smash them over the cross bar when he got scored on, lol
  4. I wonder if today Barasso would play in NHL at 18? Imagine if we had him...no, I won't even dream that 😞
  5. Right, they got to play together for awhile. The Russian team played together all the time. And the USA had Mike Ramsey!! πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ
  6. Autos are changing faster than human hockey players, yes
  7. If they played the clutching and grabbing style of the 1980's I'm pretty sure the NHLer's would win, but if it was our rules today the college kids would probably win with about 7 PP goals a game
  8. The 1980 Olympic team was just college guys, and they beat a real good Russian team full of veteran men
  9. Some of you guys somewhere had this argument and it really struck me. Then this morning they were talking about Levi coming out of college and they talked about how Barrasso came right out of High School and won the Calder. I could never see that happening now. Ok, I get the rules are VERY different, as is the equipment and even the culture of the game. So it's kind of impossible to compare, but anyway, who do you think would win?
  10. TNT, Tuch, VO?, Cozens?, Skinner Maybe five this year
