  1. Sad to hear, great website. Hopefully Mr.Wuest will win whatever battle he is up against.
  2. When a team tries to decide between Marner, Crouse, Zacha and Strome it may just come down to team needs. http://ohlprospects.blogspot.ca/2015/01/midseason-top-30-for-2015-nhl-entry.html
  3. I would love to have a direct line to an NHL scout but I unfortunately don't, just a conversation while at an OHL game a few weeks back.
  4. Marner would eventually be Reinharts RWer i would doubt he would be in NHL next year but would go back to the knights you can see from DuClair and Domi how well Samsonworks with speedy wingers. not sure i would rank Marner above Zacha yet. the scout who i was able to talk with rated his skating as A+ and would rank him higher than all 2014 forwards.
  5. Marner took over the OHL scoring lead (71 points) yesterday with a 2G 3A afternoon vs Sarnia. He now leads Strome by 4pts - each have played 36 games. Marner is now averaging 1.97pts per game for the season. However, over his last 28 games he is averaging 2.43pts per game. to compare - McDavid in his 18 games before being hurt was scoring at a clip of 2.83pts per game. Pat Kane scored at a rate of 2.50 pts per game in his draft year with the Knights. Kane turned 18 in November of his draft year while Marner won't turn 18 until May of his draft year.
  6. Big game tonight between Jets and Islanders. Jets win would pull them even with the Blues and will help bring the Islanders back to the Rangers and Caps (both of whom are playing really well right now). The isles have been shaky over the last month - they;ve lost 3 goal leads 4 times (including game vs Sabres) and have won only 4 of 12 in Regulation. Still hoping we see at least 2 ping pong balls for the Sabres this spring.
  7. Here is the December rankings from Hockey Prospects. http://www.hockeyprospect.com/2015-nhl-draft-rankings/ I totally agree with Zacha and Marner going 4 & 5 ahead of Strome and Crouse.
  8. Amen!!!!
  9. This is why I am extremely optimistic about the Sabres - on most teams he is a 3rd line winger. In Buffalo, He could very well be 4th on the depth chart by the time all the Sabres develope. As goal scorers I think he would rank below each of Armia, Bailey and Baptiste and there is no way any of them are 4th liners (none are physical players). So if 2 of the 3 develop into NHLers and Ennis is on the team - Fasching could be part of one of the better 4th lines in the NHL.
  10. Hmmmm a first line for the Sabres - Reinhart with a guy who can out right fly and incredible skill as well? Could Mitch Marner be the perfect fit for the Sabres if they don't land Eichel or McDavid??
  11. Looked at that too: Girgensons and Risto are both RFAs due a big raise in 2016. Foligno is also a 2016 RFA Grigerenko, Psysyk are RFAs at end of this season. Will have to spend some money on a goalie and probably get a top line winger out of FA or trade for one.
  12. at this point I would trade a 3rd with Enroth just to stop him from winning all those Shoot - Outs!
  13. My 2016 / 17 Buffalo Sabres LW Centre RW XX Reinhart xx Moulson Girgensons Ennis Foligno Grigorenko Armia / Baptiste / Bailey Lemieux Compher Fasching Defence Risto Zadorov Myers Gorges Pysyk McCabe * Hodgson and Gionta still under contract for this season. 1) If Hanifin is drafted - He slots in for Myers who would then be traded for #1 line winger 2) If Strome, Crouse or Zacha get drafted - They move into the #1 LW spot beside Reinhart. Armia / Baptiste / Bailey battle out for #1 and #3 line wingers 4) If Marner is drafted - he slots into the #1 line RW. #1 LW must be found through trade or FA. The line-up is extremely deep and talanted but will lack experience.
  14. Great Christmas gift last night as (i think) for the first time all 3 first round draft picks had a positive result for the Sabres. Plus we had Philly, Colorado, Carolina and Arizona pick up 2 points. Unfortuntaly there is nothing Santa can do about the Oilers who now have 1 win in their last 19 games -could they have made a deal with Satan? and no I don't mean Miro I listened to their post game radio show last - a lot of callers and the host excited about their positiion in the McEichel derby. I want McEichel badly for the Sabres but wouldn't trade their franchise for ours even with McEichel on their roster. anyone else?
  15. who??? first I am hearing of him. any good?
  16. I don't think there is any doubt he will go in top 10 - Maybe even in the 5-7 range. You don't see his combination of size and skating abilty very often, plus he has a non-stop motor. I think he is a case of where you have to look deeper than just the stats to see his impact. He hasn't put up a lot of points with Kingston this year but for Canada at this summers Ivan Hlinka he did lead the team by scoring 6 goals in 5 games - a team that featured Strome, Marner and Barzal. You will have a real good idea about Crouse over the next two weeks.
  17. Compher & Fasching for USA Olafsson for Sweden (Johansson pulled out due to Injury) Reinhart for Canada we can still hope for McDavid, Eichel or Hanifin but not looking so good with the way Arizona, Carolina and Edmonton are playing
  18. Future Considerations Top 30 released last night: http://futureconside...king-nhl-draft/ World Juniors Preview by Hockey Prospectus - http://www.hockeyprospectus.com/2015-world-junior-championship-preview/
  19. Thanks for the great post .55. When Ross mentions ranking him 4th - I believe he means OHL prospects behind Marner, Strome and Zacha(?) not the draft. I will be in the minority but I take Hanifin all day and twice on Tuesday. He will create a ton of offence from the back end, he does everything well. I then think you have the freedom to trade Myers (or Z) for the scoring forward they desperately need. ISS December rankings http://www.isshockey.com/iss-top-30/ Interesting notes - Another scouting service now ranks Werenski ahead of Kylington. I believe that Provorov will also end up ahead of him by the time the draft. I would switch Marner with Barzal - I actually have Marner at #4 - the 155lbs will scare a lot of people but to me he is Patrick Kane 2.0 I think we now have to hope the Blues and Islanders go out in the first round. If this happens there is plenty of talent in the 15-20 slot. I would still like to see the Sabres package some picks to move up the draft board.
  20. They are in every game because their goaltending has a save % of .930 while the opposition has a save % less than .900 over the last 14 games. Not because they are even in terms of puck possession and shots take - a hot goalie can cover up a lot of warts.
  21. you are absolutely watching a different team than I am. I still see the same crap team with a hot goalie - there is no upswing in their play. They are the worst offensive team in the league and one of the worst defensive teams in the league (even over the last 14 games). Their PP sucks and the Penalty Killing isnt much better. Yes, we are past the tear down stage, now we sit at the bottom of the crater for a year, two or maybe even 3. The upswing is a mirage - dont be fooled. Your pulling for a team to win on the back of a hot goaltender and will be counter productive to the long term future of this team. Soon - when Enroth plays back to his career avg the Sabres will shoot back down the crater. Lets hope its not too late to secure a top 3 or 4 pick when it happens.
  22. Great article for those who think Sabres are playing well. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2304745-will-puck-luck-cause-the-buffalo-sabres-to-miss-out-on-connor-mcdavid best point : Over Buffalo’s lovely 13-game run, the team has surrendered 484 shots against; that ranks 28th in the league. Meanwhile, the Sabres have taken an NHL-low 337 shots; that’s 17 fewer than the 29th-ranked Rangers, a team which has played one less game in that span. At this, the high point of its season, Buffalo is the worst offensive team in the NHL married to almost the very worst defensive team. The Sabres have been getting away with it because their goalies have posted a 0.930 save percentage while the opposition’s goalies have posted a 0.896 save percentage over the same span, which is the equivalent of Dominik Hasek at one end of the rink and a below-average AHL goalie at the other end
  23. Its amazing to me that Duncan Keith, Brent Seabrook, Patrick Sharp and Dustin Byfuglien ever survived the culture of losing during the 2005 / 06 and 2006 / 07 season with the Black Hawks. Hope someone can explain cause I would assume their careers would be ruined forever! i could be wrong but I believe they may have added elite talent found at the top of the draft and amazingly that was that for the "culture of losing".
  24. I think you would really have to question the character of any player if 4 months of losing ruins them forever.
  25. I will give you that - I hate when people say the Tank is/was a waste if they don't land McEichel. I hope this team finishes last but stay in the bottom 4 or 5 and I will still argue it was worth it.
