  1. I can't see any tanking - trades made for the future but I can see this team in the bottom 5-7 if they draft 3rd or lower. Will being able to watch Reinhart and Hanifin next season be enough to appease the customer base 1 more year?
  2. My roster prediction: Kane Girgensons Ennis Moulson Grigerenko Free Agent Foligno Reinhart Gionta Deslaurier Larsson McCormack Risto Bogosian Hanifin Pysyk (depending on health) Weber Free Agent *Zadorov to the Amerks for the year. This team is definitely not making the play-offs next season but is still much improved from the 2014-15 team.
  3. I think you are setting yourself up for disappointment if you believe that line-up can compete for a play-off spot next year. You will have 2 rookies playing Centre (no matter how good they will eventually become they are still rookies) and assuming they actually finish last - still not comfortable calling this thing over. Plus, the D will need at least another year to mature and there still isn't a goalie. I think jump into the high 70's / low 80s finishing around 20th would be a good season for the Sabres. .
  4. who cares! How easy is it on fans who have to watch these guys play??!! Maybe the players would be better off in a city where no no one cares and only 7000 show up to the game? Then they can continue to lose in peace and quiet.
  5. at the end of the day - Fans made a business decision to cheer for the Coyotes. Players get to do it all the time when they are free-agents. They do whats best for them - not the fans. Well it was our turn last night.
  6. The fans cheering for the Coyotes last night were actually cheering for the future of the Sabres. They were not trying to show up the organization - in actuality they were applauding managements ability to stick with and complete the task at hand. The Sabres haven't cheated the fans out of anything - they were told going into this what to expect. Id say the year after year after year of mediocrity was a way bigger scam. And all those kids you are so worried about will benefit directly from the "tank" as they will soon have world class teammates. Play off aspirations? haha thats the funniest thing I've read in ages.
  7. I respectfully disagree. I think he had a real good idea that they wouldn't improve the team enough to get out of last place. I think his only miscalcuation was the play of Enroth in December. My guess for next season is that they end up in the 3rd tier of non-playoff teams in the Eastern conference. The Ottawa Senators of 2015-16. They wont be a top contender for the Shart next year but certainly still in the league.
  8. Tim is a pretty smart hockey man. He knew better than everyone that the FAs he signed last summer wouldn't stop his team from coming in last. While most hockey observers and many many people on this site assumed it meant we would be at least play=off contenders this season. Now he realizes that this team is going to have a lot of youth on it. Especially on D and at C so he can not possibly think he will be a cup contender and probably realizes the Play-offs are a long shot too. So he hopes the team wins the lottery. Can't speak for other tankers but I honestly dont think the Sabres will be a play=off team next season.. So I hope they win the lottery in 2016 as well - be it a 2 % chance or a 8% chance. I look forward to cheering them on next season as the new lottery system comes into effect.
  9. Over the next 5 games I am hoping we see seperation between the Oilers and Sabres. In non-bizzaro terms I'm hoping the Oilers can get 5 points over the next 5 games and the Sabres pick up 1. (I think that means 5 points for Oilers and 9 points for Sabres in the Carrion league). That would then knock the magic number vs Edmonton down to 14 with 10 to play. Oilers schedule - Sabres - Rangers, Caps, Bruins, Devils and Preds. Oilers - Pens, Blue Jackets, Leafs, Blue Jackets and Flyers. Anything less than 5 and 9 its going to be real close and stressful over the last 10 games!
  10. Corey Pronman mock draft: Buffalo - Connor McDavid Edmonton - Jack Eichel Arizona - Noah Hanifin (says he is between 50-75% sure of this pick) certainly not a slam dunk. Carolina - Strome Toronto - Marner Columbus - Crouse NJ - Rantanen Philadelphia - Barzal Dallas - Wernenski Colorado - Provorov Sabres 24th pick - Jordan Greenway.
  11. Every game and Im staying up late to watch the Coyotes and Oilers - though really look forward to it coming to an end! Im as nervous watching the game as I would be if the Sabres were in the Play-offs. If it gets even closer I'll be as stressed as if they were in game 7 of the Finals. After watching the Leafs last night the one thing we can be proud of as Sabres fans is that at least our veteran players at least give an effort. The game Lupul put out last night was shameful and he should be extremely embarrassed but I doubt he is.
  12. liking my prediction more and more. Maybe Kylington may be someone to look at with top pick in 2nd round? Zacha in the 20s and Im doing cart-wheels.
  13. Ive even seen him on the 3rd line in Erie though definitely plays on the top PP unit. Lets not forget he had 45 in Sudbury last season - he isn't riding on anyones coattail
  14. At the end of the day, you've had 40 years of mediocre hockey to enjoy. I think its only fair that Tank Nation take a turn at the wheel.
  15. Kris Baker must be sleeping after watching the 5 period OT NCAA game last night so I haven't seen him tweet this yet. JT Compher has both Michigan goals today through the 1st period vs Penn St.
  16. Another highly ranked MHL player season comes to an end. Denis Guryanov scored 3G and added an assist in 3 games to 1 playoff series loss. He was ranked 51st by Bob McKenzie's mid term report but has been ranked in top 30 by a few publications.
  17. One of my favorites from the WJC, Dergachyov, Alexander (ranked 53 on Bob Mckenzie's mid term report) scored 5 goals in first round of MHL playoffs. His team SKA-1946 win series 3-0 and advances to 2nd round.
  18. Hockey News has ranked the Sabres with the 4th best prospect pool in the NHL. (6th in 2014). in 2014 Risto was the 7th ranked prospect and Zadorov was 8th. Reinhart has been added as the #1 prospect in 2015. The Jets now have the #1 ranked prospect pool with WJC stars Ehlers, Morrissey and Petan all ranked in top 50. Plus they added Armia (44) and Lemieux (74). The magazine was published prior to the trade deadline. It would be interesting to see if the Coyotes (currently 12) would pass the Sabres with the addition of Duclair (17 overall)? No matter how bad things are for Sabres fans it could be worse - the Leafs are about to venture down the "suffering" path and have the 27th ranked prospect pool to draw from. Ouch!
  19. How can we be ONLY 2 months removed from the World Juniors and have any questions about him as a prospect?? I mean this is the guy who was the #1 Centre for a team that had Connor McDavid playing on it. This may have been mentioned but he is the #1 prospect in this months Hockey News "futures propects" magazine. I figure he will be a very good #1 centre or an elite #2.
  20. If you are ever worried I would suggest rewatching the WJC from 2 months ago.
  21. Whats the predicted roster when Buffalo finishes 29th and Toronto wins the lottery?
  22. . 2 out fo the 7 draft sites I follow have Marner ahead of Hanifin. To laugh at the thought that they are in same tier is just old school thinking that bigger is always better. Not to say I would rank Marner over Hanifin but I also wouldn't mock someone that did.
  23. Im sorry, you are right about Baptiste but not about McDavid is 100% in the NHL next year and Eichel is 90% (if he wants to play in NHL he will - though could return to college).
  24. you are trying way toooo hard.
  25. in Marners last 45 games he has 42G and 71A scoring at a rate of 2.51PPG. He's been held scoreless in 4 of those 45 games and has 32 multiple Point games. the people who have Strome and/or Crouse over Marner probably had Turris and JVR ranked ahead of Kane in 2007. Patrick Kane listed at 5'10 162lbs in draft year - Marner 5'11 165lbs. marner seems to have lost 10lbs on the March rankings. It will be intersting to see what he weighs come the combine.
