I don't have a good feel. I don't trust UPL. The Sabres are 1-7-2 in their last 10 games against Carolina and 4-3-3 in their last 10 at home.

If he's not ready in mid November and hasn't played 10 games, they'll send him back to the WHL. Once he plays 10 games in the NHL he starts his elc so I don't see the whl route being something Buffalo would choose at that point. Yes he could go to Rochester post injury for only 2 weeks on conditioning but I'd rather not see him there. Injuries can derail careers. There's no other way to put him in Rochester. The WHL owns his rights until like June 2024. Savoie missed the cutoff by 1 day (you have to be 20 by Dec 31) which is the dumbest rule in the chl agreement.

The only thing I'd say is that even if he added 2 rookies (Johnson and Savoie) they would both be deeper in the lineup then Quinn, JJP, and Power are because we have Quinnn, JJP, and Power. I'd also add Johnson and Rousek would be NHL rookies but they aren't young 20yr old kids. They would be 22 and 24 when September hits.

And if you had, this entire board would be UP IN ARMS calling for heads because Ullmark would have gotten claimed. It would be the same argument just instead of "why didn't he outbid Boston" it would be "why did he expose Ullmark!?!?" Losing Borgen wasn't and still isn't important IMPO. Lybushkin is Borgen. Stillman is Borgen. They all play similar games and the only difference in numbers comes from Seattle being better as a defensive unit compared to the Sabres run and gun style and lack of defensive discipline.

UPL was in the starters net at the optional skate today. It is a good indication he will be starting on Saturday against Carolina. I too think this is a mistake but Levi is used to 2 games a week at best so maybe they were about his load management. IMPO, I would go with Levi and Comrie next year. It is imperative that they add a legitimate top 4 defender this offseason and any excuse to the contrary is a lack of awareness and ability on Kevyn Adams part even if Ryan Johnson could potentially fill that role.

This team needs to consider replacing the assistant coach in charge of defense and they need to pursue 2 new defenders for next year.

I agree and Granato has talked repeatedly about players self correcting when possible. Quinn, Levi, Dahlin are all those types of ppl. This is something I dont worry about much with Levi. You don't wave off getting pulled in a game you give up 8 if you don't have confidence to fix the issue and battle on. Levi is a different creature all together.

If he was in NA he'd been talked about more. Östlund is on par with Kulich in many ways while being physically behind him. I hope he comes to NA next season.
