he will score 20 goals by Christmas the casual fans who don't know how to read a message board and are only concerned with the team on the ice right now will allow him to maintain his captaincy through the deadline.

Opportunity Cost of Owning Season Tickets under Pegula
LastPommerFan replied to Ghost of Dwight Drane's topic in The Aud Club
please do the entire OSP regime to prove how much better things were under Quinn. -
nope, this decision is so narrow it literally only affects "closely held" companies (very few shareholders) and only regarding birth control.

Opportunity Cost of Owning Season Tickets under Pegula
LastPommerFan replied to Ghost of Dwight Drane's topic in The Aud Club
seriously though, I'm a season ticket holder, and despite the cost increases and the product failings, it's still been worth every dollar to be able to spend time with my dad and my brother and bring my 6-y-o to the games. worth. every. dollar. -
Opportunity Cost of Owning Season Tickets under Pegula
LastPommerFan replied to Ghost of Dwight Drane's topic in The Aud Club
Totally sucks for us that pegula bought the Sabres at the end of the recession. If he had bought them in 2007 these numbers would look way better. -
we'll get to see the game this team was actually built to play. still can't make many (any?) mistakes if we want to beat the waffles, but I am very excited now.

5 Roman Catholic men decide that a business's religious freedom is protected so long as it is regarding a very narrow, mainly roman catholic issue. Birth Control exclusion for Catholic businesses: OK! Blood Transfusion exclusion for Jehovah Witness businesses: not protected by this decision. Independent judiciary meet politics, politics this is the independent judiciary.

Murray Heaven - Hockey Heaven is dead. Long live Murray Heaven
LastPommerFan replied to X. Benedict's topic in The Aud Club
I like the comparison, but the four horsemen will always be Stuhldreher, Miller, Crowley and Layden. (BTW: ND-UGA in 2017 and 2019. Looking forward to it!) -
Christian Ehrhoff bought out; Signs with PIT, 1yr $4M
LastPommerFan replied to Hoss's topic in The Aud Club
Thinking on this, I believe the ultimate judgement will be 3-4 years from now. If we are looking for one more puck moving defenseman to push us over the line, then this move will look like a huge mistake. If we are spending to the cap and the top 4 are strong in both ends, the $4M freed up and removal of potential recapture will be the right decision. -

So we've had a deadline, a buyout period, and a draft. Tomorrow the fourth seal (UFA) will be broken. And when he had opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth beast say, Come and see. And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth. -
I agree that teams are unlikely to sign assets out of UFA that will have value in the future. Those guys don't often make it to UFA, and if they do, they're not signing with a bottom feeder. Accepting that reality. I see two options: Trade current potential and futures for real assets now that also have some future value <or> Sign FAs that have much less value now and will be virtually useless when the time comes at the cost of nothing but money. Working off those two options, I like the latter. I get to keep all my current prospects/picks so as to maximize my probability of developing the talent needed to contend. I also ice a significantly less talented team in '14-'15 which again improves my probability of drafting/developing the talent needed to contend. That said, I would definitely be looking into the trade options. it's possible that some team might be willing to part with a current NHL leader with some gas left in the tank for some of our lesser prospects/picks. This is especially likely if that team is currently cap constrained. This would be a trade similar to the Campbell to Florida trade. You have to be on the lookout for these options.

Not surprisingly, I got solid liberal. Next generation left appears to be the center left moderates, and in NYS, that would probably encompass a huge chunk of the independents and a good slice of the GOP. Remember, this is a national poll, so you're being balanced against conservatives in Mississippi and Oklahoma.

Christian Ehrhoff bought out; Signs with PIT, 1yr $4M
LastPommerFan replied to Hoss's topic in The Aud Club
I do, but this was the compromise that was reached. I do not wish it was any different. The sabres buyouts would not have changed, and this potentially hurts our competition. so I'm good with it. -
yeah, the Subban offer sheet would certainly be in the range that would cost us our first next year. NFW

They were allowed to be restructured, in a way, that's what we just did with Leino and Ehrhoff. -

LastPommerFan replied to Hoss's topic in The Aud Club
I had mentioned in some other thread that we can't Trade him because then we lose control. As long as he is on our team, we could treat him with the Pronger-Method, and keep him on LTIR for years to avoid retirement and recapture. So the options were always only keep or buyout. They wouldn't need to give Ehrhoff anything, they just need the docs on their payroll to say he can't play and he gets to keep his full salary. This absolutely would cost us the top draft pick. -

I think this has been the plan all along, but they waited in case they could have made better use of the buyout via a draft day trade. -

I agree. That is just the scenario that would piss me off the most. How awesome is it that the worst team in the league just cut its best defensemen. They really should look into tweaking the draft lottery system to try and address things like this. -

5-6 years down the line were going to have a roster full of first round picks reaching the end of restricted free agency, so I get the fear, but if he goes and signs with the islanders and plays well I'm gonna be pissed. -

Doesn't his NMC play into that somehow? Wouldn't he have to approve the claim? -
Bettman is a disgrace and should not appear in ceremonies
LastPommerFan replied to SDS's topic in The Aud Club
Bettman deservedly gets it worse because he is the face of 3 seasons (including one total loss) of labor strife reduced hockey. No other commish can claim that much fan screwage. -
I'm totally on board, not questioning the mission, only the tactic. ___________________ Another element of this would be that the OT stuff makes sense to be massive consolidated threads, it's the hockey stuff that must be more broken out into specific topics. Your suggestion that the thread titles be more descriptive is right on target. Is there a way to add a reminder to this effect on the "create new thread page"? Something reminding a poster generating a new thread with some suggestions on how to make a strong thread title?

This crap is why Bettman gets booed.
