  1. Consider putting together a draft board for year 6 of my draft contest, Mom's Basement Stakes. You can see previous years at my website 45b.us, which I will update for last season soon.
  2. Yes, we agree. What changed drastically, as the season went on, wasn't the number of shots he was giving up, but the quality of those shots.
  3. I don't total shots, but I do total the number of goals he should have been on the ice for had the team scored the percentage times based upon the number of shots and the distance of the shot (what I call the Should have Scored). Risto's shot numbers aren't so bad, the shooting percentage on the ice (in both directions) in the second half is horrific. All numbers even strength Games 1-41 The team should have scored 37.8 goals, they actually scored 31 goals The team should have allowed 38.2 goals, they actually gave up 38 goals Games 42-75, I haven't downloaded the last handful of games The team should have scored 31.2, they actually scored 24 The team should have allowed 35.1, they actually allowed 53 Yes, his Corsi got a little worse the last half, but it isn't the important number. His on-ice shooting percentage for got much worse. His on-ice shooting percentage against got much worse.
  4. I'm working off of eliteprospects data, so I don't have even strength points. Speaking of which, I've been thinking about spending some time and figuring out where Turcotte would be rated without Hughes, since Hughes has a minimal effect on Turcotte's numbers. Also Turcotte gets very little power play time. For me it's not worth the time anyway, because if Turcotte is there I'm taking him, probably as high as picking 3rd.
  5. We're not too far off Liger, but I expect fewer players to be there. I'm hoping for Robertson at 31 and Beaucage at 60-whatever, but currently believe that I'll be grabbing Beaucage at 31 and Pinto at 60-whatever.
  6. I'll get back to this later
  7. So Liger, you would rather be at the top of a tier rather than the bottom of a tier?
  8. I believe they see it as long term marketing. That the NHL should see it like the NBA sees it, that the NHL should be promoting a league for women to make future fans of the 12 year old girl, who in 20 years will be engaged in hockey, instead of just basketball. As long term marketing, they feel they are providing a service that should be paid, and as such, are demanding payment. I would be surprised if the NHL thought the same.
  9. Barrett Hayton was OK this year, better than Zadina
  10. Yeah, that's why I say it sucks to be at 7, because no one I want will be there, and everyone I'll take will be there later. My thought is everyone feels the same way, so why would you trade assets to go from 12 or 13 to 7?
  11. For me, there's a fairly hard line at 5, so it sucks to be picking 7. Maybe one of the five make it to seven, most likely Turcotte, but possibly Podkolzin, I think Byram dropping is doubtful. I'm OK with maybe 5 different players at 7 (Newhook, Harley, Dorofayev, Brink, Dach), but one or two will be there at 12. I would trade down, but someone has to be in love with someone still available at 7 and wants to trade up. I like to look at where players fit into the decade to have a better idea of their value. For forwards, I have Hughes at 3 and 65 (His USDP 18 part of the year was very good, his USHL part, not so much), I would pick Kakko second, he's 23rd for the decade. Turcotte 17 and 40. Dorofayav 36 (good in the MHL, not so much in better leagues), Newhook 44, but BCHL has such a small track record, it's hard to know. Brink at 53, Dach at 61. Notice that there's pretty much one player in each 10 segments for the decade, so it's an average draft, at least near the top of the forwards. For Defensemen, Byram is at 5 for the decade (Dahlen, Bouchard, Hamilton, Provarov, Byram, Werenski, Fabbro, Rielly, Dobson, Brannstrom), Harley at 15, York at 44 and 52. So defensemen are a little thin this year near the top. I got 6 weeks to think on it, but I'll probably go Harley or Newhook at 7.
  12. He's also not in the next draft class
  13. yeah, but Botterill needed to choose either Housley or Reinhart a year ago, for me this past year had to happen as it did, since Housley had lost the room a year ago.
  14. One year ago Reinhart went before the media and said, to paraphrase, I do better when I don't listen to the coach, so I'm not going to listen to the coach. Sabrespace never mentions this, I call it Flow Denial, but I wouldn't be surprised if the Sabres have been looking for a deal for the last year.
  15. Somewhere on this site, a couple weeks ago, someone said 'All coaches are hated by every player'. So I've been listening. Twice in the past week someone has talked about how much they love Ted. First it was Moulson's wife talking about how Matt felt, then it was Barnaby on WGR yesterday.
  16. https://www.sportsnet.ca/podcasts/31-thoughts-podcast/ April 4, the McDavid Fallout in case you click here after next weeks show, Thursday I think
  17. I can see how you could read my joke about sabrespace as an acceptance. It's not fair terms, as you want to compare a 23 year old with a 21 year old. I'm saying Tage is a better prospect because he's younger, not that he will score more than Olofsson next year. You'll have to be more fair on terms.
  18. You want to relive the old days when everyone looked like Tim Connelly?
  19. Yeah, a lot of people feel that way
  20. WC, I don't think Housley goes with those line combos next year. He went longer with Skinner Eichel Reinhart than anyone else would have, he's gotta have a reason
  21. What do you think about the Skinner Eichel Olofsson line, if you are Casey Mittlestadt?
  22. amerks.com separates out PP points you typoed, Smith is 56 in 57
  23. I think you'll see that next year, WC, I'm just trying to temper some expectations. CJ Smith outscored Olofsson in even strength situations in Rochester, would you be excited about CJ Smith on that line?
  24. I don't think he'll score enough. Do you mention this to Skinner during negotiations? How does Reinhart like that idea?
