You use the age difference in alot of your analysis. I agree that it is a factor but I'm not sure it should be a determining factor.
If you look at previous drafts it is a pretty good indicator. Like if looking at Kassian and Foligno. Foligno is 7 months younger and was not as developed as Kassian. Now they appear to be very similar players. Yet one went in the fourth round and the other the first. That 7 months of development is important.
So he had as many points in one game as Vanek had in six? :P I was just noting that you said "at least Vanek put up points" while Draisaitl put up more than Vanek did.
Unfair! I was more talking World Championships and not juniors. but point to you good sir.

I'd trade Moulson for Kassian straight up.
Vancouver needs to match scoring with Chicago if they make the playoffs. Kassian in Buffalo would have a chance to get real minutes.
Plus a pick and I am in. That would be hysterical

We have the moves on the front page. The thread would be for discussion of those moves.
I havent looked at the front page in years. I wouldnt know so ignore me then lol

He put up six points in six games at the World Juniors this year and was a minus-1. Vanek put up four points in six games in his last WJC and was a minus-8.
He played horrible. They were nearly relegated and he played good in that game. Did nothing against the americans and got kicked out of the game. I hink he was also held scoreless against the canadians.
4 of those points against Norway the worst team in the tournament.

Buffalo Sabres @BuffaloSabres13s
#Sabres D at practice are Ehrhoff, McBain, Myers, Sulzer, Tallinder, Weber.
No Pysyk. Must be going down.
Is anybody opposed to me starting a "Sabres Dailey Transaction and Lineup news" thread. It would be a place to go to post any practice notes, callups, demotions and potential lineup changes.
Only if it is locked to only you or the Mods. That way it doesnt get cluttered and we can actually see what is happening. Then we can discuss the moves in this thread.

Didn't mean both together. Just saying if I had to choose, I would take Reinhart number one. If Reinhart is gone or hurt then I take Bennett over Dal Colle.
I'm not giving a 2nd round pick to move up one draft slot. Not in this draft. A third maybe if we REALLY feel like Dal Colle is better than the next guy.
If you have two top five picks then you should be more likely to take a risk on Draisaitl. Reinhart and Draisaitl would be a good haul. A safe pick and a risky one.
No reason to take a risky pick there.

I have a lot of doubts about how well Draisaitl's game will translate to the NHL. If I have two top five picks he isn't in consideration.
I take jake Virtanen over Draisaitl, but then again I am big on Virtanen...
I dont take Draisaitl period. I dont think his game translates at all. Also people want to say that he was on a poor team and thats why he ddint do well. Each and every year that Vanek played with Austria in tournamnets where they lost every game he put up numbers. Elite players put up numbers even if their team is over matched.

Enroth is an ok backup tender. Not a starter. Never should be. He will make sure of the tank for next season if he is the starter.
-
I'd draft Bennett and then trade with 4th (our 5th overall plus a 2nd rounder) to move up and take Dal Colle
I think he will be there. But I really dont want the German.
-
You believe in the playoffs Gerbe would be allowed to do that? He would be crushed at the blueline and never get the chance.
He is a good third line winger on a team that doesnt already have a really good tiny player. We fortunately have a better midget in Ennis so no room for a gerbe.
-
There is talk Reinhart is more suited to winger in the NHL.
Fine with me then!
We would be currently drafting 1st anf fifth if the islanders gave up their pick. Which I think they will because they are most likely going to be worse next year than this year.
-
Still want Reinhart. Would rather have Bennett than Dal Colle.
I dont think Reinhart and Bennett is an option. I think it is more likely to get Bennett and Dal Colle. However if we take Reinhart and Bennett we then have five guys that are supposed to be top six centers.
-
Yes please. How can we possibly get back into the top 3 to 5 after our 1st pick? That will be a challenge I don't think we can meet.
I think it is going to happen. I would think the Islanders give up their pick. We then have numerous 2nd and third round picks where we should be able to move up into the Top 5 from 10 or so.
-
I think I now want Bennett and Dal Colle
-
For starters they both suck. I get what you are saying that they need goaltending. Anybody can see that. I just don't agree that Miller makes them a playoff team. Just like Crosby would not make us a playoff team.
Crosby could probably make us a playoff team.

Wow! This Academy of Hockey is going to be one of the best in the nation! That is a really cool piece to this.

There is a deadline for NHL teams to send players down to the AHL for the Olympic break. Friday at 5 p.m. Likely more related to that.
Why is Varone coming up then?
-
I think he was referring to the scrolling headline at the bottom of the screen that was noting the trade from 3 weeks ago like it had just happened. ;)
oh :(
-
@MatthewWGR: From what im hearing it sounds like Phil Varone may get his first NHL call and Porter and McNabb will go back to Roch. Interesting.
That has got to be trade related right? I thought Mcnabb played really really well last night so i hate that move. Porter is eh

Man how many times has John-Michael Liles been traded?
Seriously I feel like he has played on every team in the NHL but ours. Every time I turn on another teams game he seems to play for them

My favorite thing about Zadorov is that he won't be 19 until April. He is literally still a kid and continues to get better. I have very high hopes for Nikita Zadorov.
Him and Risto should be an anchor for a long long time. With Myers finally looking like himself our defense should be very very good.

No one really wants the Browns job it seems, very unattractive as they keep firing people very soon into the tenure... Just some stuff I was reading on ESPN...
I guess if you're only a coordinator, then any HC job would seem attractive
Pettine has been rumored to want the Browns head coaching job a LOT. 11 draft picks this year on an average team. Still need a RB and a QB but the defense looks good and Gordon is a stud. If you can get three starters out of this draft it will be a quick turnaround.

Think about all the 19-year-olds you know. How many of them would you want put in charge of anything important?
Then think about all the 30-year-olds you know. How many of them do you see being comfortable/happy following a 19-year-old?
Steve Yzermans don't come around very often.
I'm not saying that he is the captain next year but I would bet his play would be good enough to be on the roster. Also he can do much more than weber can, of course there will be more mistakes with him but who cares?
Kassian to Vancouver for Hodgson

Ott will get more than just Kassian in a trade. Why would we throw more in? Obviously the toughness thing didnt work out for them.
