  1. Still makes it debatable as to if the game is worth attending......... Although chances are the Pegulas 'Lamborghini Night' would probably be just them showing off their recent purchases, maybe having them outside for the fans to pay to have photos taken near...
  2. Do they charge by size? If you stayed with a reasonable cup size it may have been corvette price comparable. New knees and huge jugs at the same time?
  3. That article was saying Balsillie could go after them and give it another try to move them to Hamilton like he tried years ago, but I don't know if he has the money anymore. That was during the heyday of Blackberry being one of the big smart phone manufacturers. They aren't what they used to be and I don't think he has all that spending cash anymore......
  4. Atleast he can take it easy on his voice and not have to worry about calling many goals or exciting plays in his final year.......
  5. Lundqvist is announcing his retirement, does this mean he is signing for league minimum in Buffalo this weekend?
  6. What about this season right now isn't a scary thought? As of right now, I would bet they go into the season with Dell and UPL as a 1A/1B tandem and Anderson retiring before the season starts but staying on to help coach and work with UPL. The Sabres seem to be on a real kick of hiring former players to the coaching and front office staff, wouldn't be surprised if Andersons signing was intended as a a way to bring him in to work and sort of mentor UPL while being a 'worst case scenario/backup plan' emergency goalie to go into the season if they need someone. Goalies his age don't usually change their minds on retirement to go play for a team almost certain to be in last or second to last in the league after playing in less then a 1/2 dozen games the year before to be paid league minimum.
  7. Wasn't UPL also coming off hip surgery/injury? Up until this injury, he has played as one of the best goalies in the leagues he was in.
  8. Poor guy, but I guess he can guarantee his retirement comes early by not having to call another playoff game......
  9. Yes, the arena in Quebec which holds just under 18k is done and open, its currently been the home for one of the Junior teams. The only reason I don't see them as being at the top of the list is it would mean re-alignment again right after they just finished balancing out the East/West by adding Seattle. An article yesterday list 4 options as Phoenix, Quebec City, Houston (4th largest city, has an arena an a potential owner looking for a team), and Hamilton which I don't see anymore because they mention Balsillie taking another shot at relocating the Coyotes there but I don't know if the "Blackberry Guy' has the money anymore to do something like this anymore. I would think Quebec City has been waiting longer for a team, but Houston would atleast keep the team in the Western conference.
  10. I read somewhere that the current owner said he wanted a new arena in the Tempe area when he bought them in 2019 If he doesn't want to move them out of Arizona, its most likely they just go back to the arena in Phoenix that they played in before moving to Gila River
  11. While true for some players (I believe it was Nathan Horton who said he wanted to go there), most want the 'Big City, luxury lifestyle' from the NY's & LA's. While Buffalo and Columbus may have scenes that 'common folk' find nice and think is attractive, for someone young and making millions, its not the same. I beleive it was Horton that said he chose Colombus as one of his top choices because he wanted to play in a smaller market where he can live with his family and take his kids out to the Zoo without being noticed or mobbed like a player might get in a big hockey market.
  12. While its true with Gretzky, Its not always the case. My theory was that with most of the top stars, they have always been the best in their leagues and their talent mostly came natural to them since they were young so while they may have practiced or played all the time, its always been in them to play at their best and seemed easy for them. The lower level guys that bounced around the league or weren't more then a 3rd/4th liner have had to work hard and been coached alot to get to where they are so they have learned from other coaches trying to teach them.
  13. New Era (unless they have soured on the Pegulas?), Sahleens? Rich products? Whatever is the current sponsor of the arena? A better sponsor might be a dumpster or waste removal company, maybe a septic/port-o-potty company? Could be fun coming up with sponsors for other teams too. Right now the Coyotes could have real estate agents/companies advertise on their jerseys.
  14. Anderson played in 4 games last season IIRC, I wouldn't exactly use that as a positive for him that he still has it. He was a last minute replacement when Lundqvist found out he couldn't play last year and supposed to be retiring a couple days before he signed in Buffalo, I would say that atleast says he doesn't have much left in the tank. And I doubt the Sabres and Dell would be showing off his custom Sabres Pads right now if the plan was for him to be in the AHL this season. Unless someone looks incredible in training camp/preseason games, Its most likely that Dell is going to get most of the starts w/ Anderson as the backup or UPL getting a 1B role if Anderson lasts through camp. It would not surprise me to see Anderson retire during camp or right before the start of the year after getting to work with UPL and they feel he is ready for time in the NHL, possibly having an agreement that he retires and they give him a coaching position to continue working with him
  15. Funny part about it is in the tweet from the City of Glendale they say they are focusing on 'larger, more impactful events and uses of the City owner arena' What could be larger & more impactful uses for an Arena then an NHL hockey team being based out of it? That seems like a nice slap in the face to the Coyotes organization.....
  16. I would say no since Lehners comments were in response to what is going on with Eichel. He wasn't just sitting around and get asked about his time in Buffalo, he made teh comments to say he knows what Jacks going through because its similar (according to him) to what he is going through
  17. Saw these somewhere else and think they are great, but how good would they work in Rochester? He does this for all the teams he ends up with (had some nice Devils pads but his best were the Sharks pads) I'm assuming if he had these made, he has been told that its most likely he starts on the roster here
  18. The fact you got an autograph instead of kicking him in the nuts or pushing him into the carousel at baggage claim should be a ban able offence around here....
  19. probably the same chance as me winning the Lotto tonight, but there is a chance....... This team dropped alot of talent this offseason and replaced most of it with scrapings from the bottom of a septic tank.... This team has a better chance of coming in dead last then being considered a playoff contender in December. Management has shown that this season is about letting the young guys get NHL experience under their belt then actually winning games. Considering their top 4 Goalies for next year had a combined win total in the single digits, and only Tokarski played in double digit amount of games in the NHL, even the Coyotes are going to struggle to keep up with Buffalo for the 32nd spot.....
  20. So what your saying is Buffalo is the City of Contenders? As for Lehner, and I'm not necessarily trying to defend him because I don't think he should be blaming others more then himself for how things went down in Buffalo (a team that actually saw the potential in him and overpaid to bring him in to be given the chance to be a full time starter), He may not have a medical degree but did live through all of it and knows best what went down. I don't think he is making these comments if other medical experts had told him that the Sabres medical staff did everything correctly......
  21. But then we wouldn't have gotten Hutton! And Binnington hasn't really been that great since the Cup run.... I do think there are much less 'Franchise Goalies' out there today and its leading to many teams going the route of getting a 1A/1B tandem with good but not great guys to carry the work load.
  22. What about the Redwings? They traded for a franchise goalie from Buffalo......
  23. From coaching Crosby, Malkin, and Fleury to Stanley cup championships to AHL ASSISSTANT Coach (where he is basically there to coach about 1/2 a team that belongs to the NHLs newest expansion team......
  24. Points or Goals? He was 10th I believe in Points, not 12th But it wasn't that long ago that Hall and Kessel were both in the top 10 in points and I doubt anyone wants to break the bank on trading for one of them.....
  25. They gave him a City Bus to travel from City Hall to the arena He was also back with Ellis I believe when 'Hometown Hockey' was hosted from behind City Hall, he was one of the players they highlighted
