  1. We get these 2 goal leads and ... <as I channel my inner Pat Hannigan> ... we go into Katy Bar The Door mode and it just never seems to work.
  2. .... except when it isn't. :P These Sabres can even manage to screw up an otherwise positive post!
  3. With the Chowderheads on deck, I'd love to see them go out in the 3rd period with the sole goal of making the Caps dread coming back here. Enroth looks solid tonight, everyone else just go out there and clean-hit the bejeezus out of them for 20 minutes. Shift after shift. If we win it, even better.
  4. Hopefully he doesn't leave with twisted, knot-like veins.
  5. He sounds like Charlie Brown's teacher. Except I think Charlie Brown's teacher was a few million less/year.
  6. TPegs and Black must be beside themselves. It's the only hope I have right now: I still believe in those guys. I'm sure I'm in the minority there, but I think the top is the only thing that's right and every organization ultimately reflects its leadership.
  7. So ... THAT was "heated" from Rolston? My ex-wife was more expressive when my belt didn't match my shoes.
  8. WGR says there's some "heated" stuff coming out of the locker room ... ooooooooooooooooooooooooh ..... I'm reminded of the perpetual mantra of the drunk guy who used to sit a few rows up from my Dad and I in the Oranges at the Aud: "Oooooooh ... you're angry [insert name?] .... Hit 'em with your purse!!!!"
  9. Almost 40 years of watching this team, and I can't remember actively despising my team. I remember feeling disappointed ... angry ... heartbroken ... but never like this. Never feeling as though I should adopt another team to follow so hockey season isn't completely ruined for me. I feel like I want to cry ... heck, give me a jersey I'd fit right in on this bench. Maybe not though, crying like a baby might be too much emotion.
  10. I feel as though I can't stand the majority of the players on the Sabres, and it literally makes me sick to my stomach to even think that could be remotely true.
  11. Hey - Stafford had 2 goals. That's like Pets.com stock trading at $500/share in 1999. Go Darcy Go! :)
  12. Agreed. No chance Myers is dealt away for that. A team that might see itself in rebuilding mode isn't going to get very far casting away guys like Myers. Myers is probably the closest thing we have to untouchable insofar as it's unlikely we'd ever be offered enough to deal him.
  13. Darcy plants his stake in the ground and that's that. He commits to a position, pushes his chips in, and that's it. That approach worked like a charm to steal a #1 for Gaustad. Unfortunately, right now he's got all his chips in the pot and flopped squat. The only way we're going to get any kind of reasonable deal done anytime in the short-term is if some potential trade partner invents some kind of cap manipulation tactic that makes it plausible to offer us value. MAYBE he can use the trade deadline as some type of leverage if a potential Cup winner thinks we (!?) have the last missing part they need, but other than I think we're stuck unless TP is in complete "fire sale" mode.
  14. Pegula and Black continue to impress me with the way they run an organization. If you believe in the idea that organizations take on the personality of their leadership - and I do - you have to believe that this WILL become a winning team. This is not a group that likes to hang its own guys out to dry; to the contrary, these guys have the long view. Directing negativity toward Pegula and Black is completely misguided. The blame for this mess falls directly on these players and, indirectly, on Darcy. Any player who doesn't visibly "leave it all on the ice" at THIS point needs to be jettisoned. Preferably that spirit would cultivate itself from within the locker room, peer pressure is the best, but if it doesn't it's Darcy's job to fill that room with guys who will make it happen. Showing a gut-wrenching, fight-until-I-barf effort is literally the LEAST that ought be expected. Pegula deserves better from the players, not vice-versa. The "what-evs, it's tough to win in the NHL" spirit that most of this well-paid, well-taken-care-of team appears to have is a public embarrassment to an owner who has done a lot of things right.
  15. Great resolve by the Sabes .... they aren't quitting. (Brutal goaltending there by the Funky Budaj.)
  16. Huge save for Miller there ... huge ... big confidence builder ...
  17. Montreal penalty to Gallagher .... 2 mins for jumping on the oversized couch, 2 mins for smashing a giant watermelon with a sledgehammer ....
  18. Passing up on open scoring attempts like that causes twisted, knot-like veins!
  19. Ott is one of the guys who could pull us out of this funk ....
