  1. I was thinking the same thing. He wasn't a great player for the Sabres but he got a bit better each year to the point where he was a good to very good player. He bailed on us but he didn't demand a trade and put the team in a bad spot and I can't blame him for wanting something else after all the losing and dysfunction he endured for 6 freaking years. Anyway, he was very effective in this series against a great team. Good for him. Yes, and Orlov and Bertuzzi are gone, as are the 1st-rounders the Bruins gave up for them. They aren't dead yet but there is a storm coming. I'll definitely be rooting for them vs the leafs.
  2. Wow. BTW, Montour and Reinhart are both really good and important players for the Panthers. Pretty disappointing how little the Sabres got out of, and for, Montour.
  3. I stand corrected on the penalties. That one was pretty questionable though.
  4. Also, that was a really bad rebound that Bob kicked out to Pastrnak on his goal.
  5. There aren't going to be any more penalties called in this game unless someone is gushing blood.
  6. Sometimes you gotta send a message to the locker room and make an example of someone. It ain't always fair.
  7. Because the peak Belichik/peak Brady teams were about 5x better than this Bills team, the Bills during that era weren't trying to be a good NFL team and the Jets and Dolphins were highly dysfunctional franchises?
  8. I generally agree and am happy with McD, BB and the state of the franchise. I just think the Bills have some important holes that need to be fixed, there isn't much that separates the Bills from the Jets or Miami at this point, it's entirely possible that one or both of them passes the Bills this year (although I don't think this will happen) and sneering at them is ill-advised.
  9. I agree with much of this, but not on WR. The Bills are dying for another major weapon at WR, IMHO. To beat KC or Cinci in the playoffs, the Bills need to be able to score at least 35 pts. They need another guy to throw to, in addition to Diggs, to do that. Davis isn't the guy. The Bills, who lost to the Jets last year, whose QB injured his throwing elbow and who haven't won a road playoff game under McD, aren't in a position to be laughing at the Jets, who have a better D than the Bills and just added an all-time great at the most important position.
  10. ...or maybe you shouldn't waste everyone's time with misleading thread titles.
  11. Respectfully, I think the issue has been decided. Levi is starting next year. And I’ll be fairly surprised if UPL isn’t the #2.
  12. BTW, 2 guys from the chainsmokers are here. And Levi was awesome in the last 5 min of that period.
  13. Which kinds do you favor? Separately: great 1st period. Very exciting. I’m in the corner where the Sabres were shooting and there was a lot of good action on O. Next period I’ll get a good look at Levi.
  14. OK, but if you're here, you hopefully knew then and you know now that the Bills in that era were never in the hunt, and, more importantly, that the current Sabres situation is utterly unlike that Bills situation. You are free to not think they are a real contender until they are one, but no one is pretending otherwise and no one is peddling you anything. Most Sabres fans, here and elsewhere, are excited because it looks like they have finally rebuilt the right way. They aren't a contender yet but a lot of the pieces are in place, and those pieces are all young (other than Skinner, who is not close to old yet either) and under contract or team control. They also play an exciting brand of hockey and seem really passionate and likable. In any case, even though you are skeptical, I hope you're enjoying some of these games, because they are really freaking fun.
  15. I can understand and agree with much of this, but the bolded is way off IMHO. The Bills stopped trying to be a real NFL team during the drought and were focused solely on squeezing as much cash out as possible. Say what you will about TP, but that has never been his approach with either team.
  16. Section 101 — in the corner on the end where the Sabres shoot twice. How bout you?
  17. I think assuming that Johnson will play next season in the NHL and will improve their top 6 is a pretty big leap. He’s a good prospect who’s had a good college career, but he’s far from a can’t-miss. I expect that he’ll need at least one full season in Rochester before he’s ready to be an NHL regular.
  18. I kinda agree with both sides here. I think Krebsie understands the game well and makes good decisions about where to go with the puck, but his hands haven't caught up with his brain, so his passes are often off target (as are his shots). It's still unclear IMHO whether he can develop into a productive offensive player like Mitts has, or whether he'll stay closer to Larsson in terms of production.
