  1. That is NOT what you claimed she said, which was this: If the Director "literally" said what you claimed she said -- let's see that quote. Otherwise, your prior post was spin to the point of dishonesty, which is not OK. Do the work, provide the links and the quotes, and tell the truth. If you want to use facts and quotes to build an analytical case, then by all means do so. But do NOT spin like this. As ought to be crystal clear by now, this GD virus is a serious matter, and everyone needs to be honest about what is known and what isn't.
  2. OK -- so you accuse me of saying something and then refuse to show me saying it? Nice. So when you claimed upthread that "the vaccine is now approved," despite the fact that only Pfizer has been approved -- was that an "outright lie?" Is it OK then for people to start "blasting" you? Or should your posts just be automatically deleted from now on, as @Eleven seems to want the mods to do with other posters? Just be civil, and being logical and analytical would be nice as well. In reading your posts, I don't think that should be much of a heavy lift for you. Despite my concerns about incivility and shouting down, you need to start bolstering these claims with links and quotes. Otherwise you're just flapping your lips and pouring gasoline on the fire. And you need to cease and desist immediately with the political swipes.
  3. If that poster wants his claims to be taken seriously, he should provide credible links and quotes to support those statements.
  4. I don't doubt your lack of surprise, but I also don't think I did this -- please provide a link. Did I say that?
  5. I don't think anyone disputes that we are not entitled to our own facts. The question, of course, is where "fact" ends and spin and opinion begin. For example, it was asserted upthread that "the vaccine is now FDA-approved" -- but only one of the 3 main vaccines has been approved. It was also asserted upthread that NY's government-issued covid numbers -- and what is more factual than a number? -- were trustworthy, which of course has now been disproven. Similarly, concerns raised by me and others about this being the first vaccine to use the mRNA technology, and that the vaccines themselves are quite new and have been developed and produced on an unprecedentedly accelerated timeline, have been waved away as silly or fear-mongering (among other, less-pleasant responses). For that matter, just a couple of posts upthread, you have asserted that "the vaccine works." It seems awfully early to call that assertion a "fact." So far, it seems to be working, but it's been generally available in this country for only a few months and worldwide for less time than that. Maybe those who aren't ready to accord this vaccine the same reliability and safety as the polio vaccine -- which wasn't mandated for something like 25 years after its introduction, btw -- aren't "liars" but rather just want to see some more data before getting comfortable that it works. As for knowing exactly what you mean -- I expect you know exactly what I mean as well. For example, one of the few actual medical professionals here, who knows substantially more about this than you or I do, has been met with hostility and repeatedly insulted for giving his views on the virus and the vaccine.
  6. Perhaps I missed the respectful and reasoned responses that apparently predated your voice becoming "bolder." I'm sure a mod would be happy to remove "misinformation that will result in people dying" if and when someone cares to take the time to establish it as such, instead of simply throwing out "bold" statements characterizing it as such.
  7. I agree with most of this, but as I've said previously, I think the most likely outcome -- not certain, but most likely by a plurality -- is that KA unloads Eichel just before the season starts for the best deal he can get at that time -- which will be a crappy deal for the Sabres. I hope I'm wrong about that.
  8. If you think someone is distributing misinformation, perhaps a better approach would be to calmly and respectfully point out, in a reasoned and supported manner, why their statements constitute misinformation. Scorning, lashing out, calling people liars, exulting in people contracting serious illnesses -- in addition to constituting poor behavior, these are tactics that are pretty much guaranteed not only to fail but to harden the other person's stance.
  9. I agree that the price will go up and I sure hope that happens. One of the difficult issues of course is that it's pretty hard to see Eichel playing games again for the Sabres to get us to that point.
  10. If that in fact were all, @New Scotland (NS) and I, among others, wouldn't be so put off and disappointed by the tone and statements made by a small, but vocal, group of posters in here. There has been quite a bit of invective and ad hominem attacking going on in here, including by you, that has gone well beyond noting that the scientific community generally has recommended getting vaccinated.
  11. Since Anaheim has historically been a budget-minded team, I think they are highly unlikely to take the economic risk on Eichel's injury without first seeing him playing NHL games at full throttle again.
  12. Not even SabreSpace posters? There are a few in this thread who seem quite sure about things.
  13. Remember when a bunch of people here were sure Florida’s covid books were cooked but for some reason trusted NY’s numbers? NY has now revised its death count upward by 28%. https://nypost.com/2021/08/25/state-health-department-reports-nys-true-covid-death-toll/
  14. Well, if Vogl was right in reporting that they only offered Linus a 1-year or 2-year deal, they didn't try very hard. Either way, pretty much everyone agreed that given Ullmark's injury history, the Sabres needed not only Ullmark but a 2nd credible NHL goalie if they wanted to give a young and developing team the backstopping in net that it will surely need as they try to emerge from the basement. That didn't happen either. Bottom line is that about a million goalies moved around this summer, which is what happens every summer, and again the Sabres sat out the game of musical chairs and instead signed a couple of fringe guys whom no one expects to be any good. They have chosen, at this point anyway, to go into the season with non-credible NHL goaltending. That is a choice a GM makes when he wants his team to lose. And a GM that makes that choice is a GM that is tanking. It may not be as complete a tank as GMTM's tank, but it's still a tank. I sincerely hope KA pulls a rabbit out of his hat and brings in a real goalie between now and the start of the season, but I'm not optimistic. As for your other post about the Reino and other trades -- not sure whether that was directed at me, but I haven't said anything about those trades in the context of whether they are tanking. FWIW, I don't view those trades as part of a tank. What does this mean? Absolutely. This is one of the key reasons why tanking is a stupid and shortsighted strategy.
  15. This. Their goaltending as currently constituted indicates to me that they are trying to lose. That's a tank, and it's not acceptable.
  16. I think if these are the goalies KA rolls out, then KA is tanking.
  17. I’ve been unhappy to very unhappy with every dell computer I’ve owned, by the way.
  18. Geez. Please excuse me for raising a question about a situation that is very different from Power's situation -- i.e. Johnson only needs to play 1 season more than his current plan to become a UFA, whereas Power would need to play 3 more seasons. But I do need some exercise, so thanks for the reminder.
  19. So a couple of people have mentioned, upthread and in the Owen Power thread, that Johnson is a flight risk. He's played 2 years at the U of Minnesota and is presumably returning for his junior year, which starts in a few weeks. I think if he plays 4 years there, he can leave the Sabres and become a UFA -- maybe as early as the end of his senior college hockey season (so he could join an NHL team for the end of that season) -- but I'm not sure about that. The Sabres drafted him with the last pick in the 1st round in 2019. He had 14 pts in 27 games and was honorable mention all-Big-10 as a sophomore. He played on the gold-medal-winning (take that, GWN!) US World Junior team earlier this year. He's 6'1", 175 lbs, and just turned 20 a few weeks ago. He grew up in Southern California and presumably has not harbored a lifelong dream to play for the Sabres. He's probably not a future top-pair guy, but he sure seems reasonably likely to become a decent NHL defenseman, and thus a pretty decent asset that it would be a shame to lose for nothing. Discuss.
  20. From the Athletic: https://theathletic.com/2762836/2021/08/11/evander-kanes-relationship-with-sharks-teammates-and-the-organization-may-be-irreparable/ And some stuff that seems pretty analogous to his time here: Quite a role model GMTM brought in for a young Eichel and Reino.
  21. I know we're just sports fans shooting the breeze here, so no harm in discussing hypotheticals, but I do feel like "would you trade Trubisky if someone offered a first for him?" is equivalent to "would you trade Trubisky if aliens came to earth and offered a super titanium terminator liquid metal for him?"
  22. We’ll never know, but I’d guess the arbitration spite originated from TG/LQ and DR was just executing on their wishes. Either way Kennedy got bad advice as others have noted.
  23. FFS. 0.69 ppg in Rochester, while having a certain appeal, is not “nearly a point per game.” That claim is #hammymath. I’m glad his coaches didn’t say publicly that he’s a washout. Most coaches who are charged with developing young players wouldn’t say that publicly about a recent #8 overall pick. More importantly, everyone with functioning eyesight who watched him play in Buffalo or Rochester prior to DG taking over saw someone who was utterly useless on the ice. He put up some numbers in a small garbage time sample size last season. That’s it.
  24. This is just not even close to accurate.
  25. No one is offering a #1 for Trubisky.
