Maybe we can trade Okposos or Skinner for Kane. đ

What if you make a deal with Seattle for the #2 for Eichel a first next year and they agree to draft Skinner in expansion draft?
I don't like it but right now as the Sabres are in cost cutting mode as well as a rebuild I can see it happening.
Skinner would have to agree to waive NMC. I think thatâs highly unlikely. Â

As of right now, Reinhart is basically a 1 year rental.  Is one year of Reinhart worth more than  the #9 pick?
If a team is able to negotiate a long term extension beforehand then that changes things.
Iâm sure the Sabres will allow them to negotiate a long term deal to increase the return.Â

I should have worded that better, and I agree a wholeheartedly on a Dome Stadium Downtown.
Itâs pointless to build a new open air stadium in Orchard Park.Â
Dome stadiums are lame. Â The atmosphere becomes like a corporate office or shopping mall. Â Its more cost effective to build a new open air stadium in OP than to retrofit the Ralph. Â Plus it allows the tailgating culture to continue.Â

According to article in Athletic by Rick Carpinello yesterday, Rangers not interested in Eichel trade.

My computer went for a crap and I had to reload Windows thus lost all my passwords and forgot my sign in for Sabrespace...finally I got a new account so I have been dying to ad my two cents (about probably all it'[s worth) but watching the World IIHF championship I found out my 1st-cousin's husband's son is Mike Bunting of Arizona and who played a nice role in helping Canada win gold! Needless to say my cousin and her husband were real excited! Anyways I liked how Henrique of Anaheim played in the worlds. he was captain and really looked good. Maybe he'd be a good 2nd center moving forward? I am sure the Ducks would not need too much for him. He is big plays well and is good on faceoffs. Just a suggestion!
Â
Â
Henrique is a cap dump. He will be a throw in when we trade Eichel or Sam to Anaheim.

Why is this guy always being traded? I thought he was a very good defenseman.

Chandler Stephenson, Leo Komorov, Ondrej Palat, Artturi Lehkonen. Those are the names of four players playing on the first line of the four remaining teams. It is not realistic to expect to have three first-line players, six top-six players, etc etc. For cost reasons. Olofsson plays a role that can be valued on a line like that.
Disagree. He canât defend and forecheck against a teams top line. Those teams you mentioned have much greater talent and have chosen to spread their talent among the top 3 lines.Â

Iâd definitely do that Eichel, Johnson for Lindholm, Tkachuk, Zary and a 2021 1st. Iâd be willing to add another piece on our end (like pick 33 or Tage or something like that).
Then if we could get 8 and Turcotte for Samson which seems to be a popular offer, thatâd be a great start to this reset.
Throw Risto and a pick to Arizona for Connor Garland.
Top nine of:
Tkachuk - Lindholm - Olofsson
Skinner - Cozens - Garland
Bjork - Mittelstadt - Tage
If VO is in your top line, youâre not a playoff team. Heâs a 3rd liner and a pp specialist.Â

Eichel, Risto and Ryan Johnson for Zegras, Comtois and 3rd OA, and cap dump (Henrique)

I could really see them doing Reinhart, Risto for Jones, MerzlikinsÂ
That would be an atrocious trade for us. Jones is overrated and wouldnât sign with us anyway. Reinhart probably wouldnât want to sign an extension with ColumbusÂ

Eichel, Risto and Reinhart for Matthews and a cap dump

Interesting thoughts but not exactly accurate.  This team has been solid not for the last 10 games but the last 21. Mitts has 17 pts in his last 21 games. That isnât bare competence thatâs high end 2C production and itâs been consistent since he assumed the role. Reinhart is our best option at 2C as he has also proven this season.  No one is trading us a capable 2C and itâs folly to continue to believe they will, especially with KA as GM and two legit candidates already here and producing. Also who are you willing to part with to acquire this mythical 2C, because theyâll ask for Cozens plus.  Itâs cap foolish as well. Â
I do agree that we need to get tougher upfront and am also on board with adding veteran depth on D, especially if McCabe walks, but trading productive kids on bargain contracts is again cap mis-management.  Finding hockey trades for someone like VO to get more physical upfront makes some sense, but to simply move on from the kids because they are âsurplusâ doesnât work in a cap world because their trade value is limited and youâd have to replace them with the Sheahans of the world at the same cost or more then you were paying someone like Asplund.  Smaller hockey trades swapping excess young winger for an excess young D makes sense on paper but isnât exactly a need here.Â
Right now we have internal candidates for nearly every job.  We have 4 centers for the top 3 jobs in Eichel, Reinhart, Mitts and Cozens.  We have 8 plus wingers including kids, Asplund, R2, Thompson, Bjork, Cozens, and Quinn, plus vets Skinner, Girgensons and VO (age wise).  On defense we have vets Risto, and Miller, plus kids Dahlin, Borgen, Jokiharju, Samuelsson and Bryson under contract or control. Â
The only thing we donât have is goaltending.  With Ullmark in net this season we played at a playoff level with both coaches but better under Granato.  This status quo team with the return of McCabe and Ullmark or similar UFAs will cost 77 million.  Itâs great to say bring in vets over and over again, but it hasnât exactly worked.  Sheary KO, Staal, Gionta, Scandella, Pominville, and Gorges all came from winning organizations and did nothing.  We also really canât afford to bring in a bunch of contracts. Â
The strategy now is to trim the fat.  Getting rid of Bjork, Eakin and Miller is a great place to start.  This frees up the money to add more physical and scoring depth upfront and replace McCabe if he walks.  How do we do this?  Eakin is demoted to the AHL, you give Seattle a draft pick to take Miller, and hopefully you can swap Bjork for the 4C we need to replace Lazar and the failed Eakin experiment.  Ultimately this is actually the time for patience.  Next season is the season when the kids get to make the team their own. Â
Agree with most of this but I like Bjork a bit more than you. We will also lose someone to the expansion draft likely Thompson or Bjork or Asplund.Â

I understand your position on the Hall deal but respectively disagree with it. With respect to the Hall NMC it turned out to be a moot issue. Considering the dismal situation he was in Hall would have been willing to go anywhere, especially to a contending team, for the rest of this season. Hall's list was irrelevant because he would have gone mostly anywhere. Hall was facing the ignominious reality that he was being benched. Was it a ploy to force him to accept a trade to a team he didn't want to go to or simply because he was benched because the organization wanted to look at players to replace a player who wasn't in the team's plans? Either way the outcome is the same in that he was not for the most part going to play much, if at all, for us for the remaining season.Â
You mentioned that KA got offers for Hall. What you don't know is what they were? It is highly unlikely that it was for a first round pick for him. Any GM who would have given up a first round pick for the UFA should summarily be fired for hideous incompetence.Â
The bottom line is that KA got what the market offered for him. A second round pick for him, even with the Lazar and Bjork part of the deal, was a reasonable deal for all the parties involved. The mistake that many people are mistaking is overvaluing Hall's value.
The bottom line is no one got fleeced in this trade as many people are portraying it to be.  There seems to be a lot of misplaced anger for a transactional that was little more than a neutral deal.Â
Â
This is clearly wrong. KA was being criticized on NHL network this AM for all of these incompetent moves. He could have told Hall âthis is where youâre going or you can sit in press boxâ. As KA has no experience the agent and Bruins took him to the woodshed.Â

What move? Has ANY move been made?
Not trading Ullmark and getting value. They didnât retain salary on Montour and consequently took a lesser return so they could retain on Ullmark. Now they have lost all leverage with Ullmark and I expect them to grossly overpay him.Â

Another terrible move from Adams. What a complete incompetent.Â

Does that suggest they are keeping their retention powder dry for a move beyond Hall?
And does the fact this was Florida suggest they aren't in on Hall?
Yep weâre retaining on Hall and Ullmark to Toronto for a first and a top prospect.Â
