One of my favorites as well.  Have tickets to see them for the first time in October.  Show has been rescheduled multiple times thanks to covid.

The show was awesome. I can’t believe they haven’t gotten more popular. The lead singer went to Stanford. The lyrics are really thought provoking.

Would the Sabres be willing to take Carey Price if he wants a change of scenery and Montreal wants the cap space to make a splash?

4 more years at a cap hit of $10.5.

He would be a perfect mentor for Levi, UPL or Portillo. He can win some games as well and transition into the 1B in a few years.

Well, the most precious asset a team can have is a franchise top C, but…

The 2nd most precious is a franchise defenseman, so Power or Dahlin would be the logical choice.

But if you don’t think either of them will quite reach “superstar NHL player” status, but you think Quinn or one of the goalies will, then you’ve gotta take that guy.

I think the jury is still out on Dahlin, and that’s clearly the case on Power, so again it only makes sense to take one of the other guys if you feel in your bones that he’s gonna be an all-time Sabre great.

Then you also have to consider whether we’re talking about a fantasy draft, where the guy you really want might be available in the second round, or whether you’re only getting one bite at the apple.

If there’s only one bite at the apple, I’ll take Levi.

I think both Power and Dahlin become great, but Power  does it a younger age than Dahlin.

Who wants to roll the dice with Levi for this pick?

Goalies are too hard to predict. Any of the 3 could be the best.

    Hello Teamnates, Punch checking in.

I have been watching the game while connecting, testing, and listening to my newly restored Marantz 2270 stereo receiver.  This one was built in 1976, one of the last ones built according to serial numbers.

This now completely restored classic should last another 50 years.  Back in the day, Marantz was known for beauty, high quality,  and great sound.  I think this particular restoration is amazing and captured the sound of it’s day.  That new components are still breaking in and impressing me.  This little beauty can easily fill a big room with great sound. It has two phono inputs (great for vinyl lovers), one aux input and two tape inputs - the later three inputs are line inputs compatible with any of today’s modern audio devices - CD/DVD, outboard DACs, blue tooth streaming devices, etc. .

It can drive two speaker sets which means a sub (or two) is easy to do.  The preamp and power amp can be separated on the back panel if you have better separate components to match up with it.  It had a AM/FM tuner to pull in radio (old school).

The solid aluminum face plate, the push button switches and smooth dials provide effective and pleasant manual controls for bass, midrange, treble, loudness, balance and numerous audio filters.  It has headphone jacks and recording monitors.  The blue lighting, classic dials, and meters give it a warm and a classic look of mid century Americana.  It is a statement piece   I will be having a replica Marantz American Walnut wood case built for it next.

You would have to spend many, many thousands of dollars to get something of this sound quality today.   This rivals my best custom/modern equipment.

The Sabres are kicking Azz.  So great night for Punch, and Mrs Punch too. I just can’t concentrate on hockey with this baby coming off of the work bench.

    Lets finish this game !

What current AV receiver does an audiophile like yourself own?

I've always been a traditionalist on the dome/outdoor stadium issue, but I'm coming around to the idea of a dome -- although it seems unlikely that the new stadium will be a dome.

Bottom line is that as discussed upthread, tickets, parking, concessions, etc are going to be really GD expensive at the new stadium.  At those prices, they are going to have a hard time selling tickets to the December and late November games if the stadium isn't a dome.

My vote continues to be to stick with the Ralph, but if there has to be a new stadium, I think I'd go with a dome.

How many dome games have you been to? I’m always disappointed with the atmosphere.

Ya, but his defensive game isn't as good as any of those players. Maybe Chabot, he's kind of sucked this year. The rest are ahead of him, and some are way ahead.

I don't want to ditch Dahlin, but I do think it's time we stop thinking of him as a franchise top guy, forget he was #1 overall, and just consider him a second pairing D man. An offensive defenseman with defensive shortcomings/liabilities. Take the pressure off and just let him be that guy.

    He’s 21.  When he’s 24 he’ll be a Norris nominee

@freester I just don’t think Dahlin should be paired with another offense first defenseman.  He desperately needs a guy that can cover his mistakes not add to them.

This I agree with. Power is a rookie and Dahlin needs an experienced stay at home partner. The problem is we have a bunch of very young LD. I think we will trade a LD for a young forward prospect and keep Pysyck as our experienced RD and maybe add another experienced RD
