Not trying to turn this into a Lindy-bash, but one of the things I was very annoyed with when it came to Vanek, was how Ruff stated he wanted to turn him into "the best two-way player in the game", right after Vanek came off a 40+ goal season. Guys who can score 40 in this league aren't just falling off trees, meaning when you actually have one, you should probably just let him do his thing, rather than try and turn him into something else. Sure, work on other aspects of his game, but 40 goal scorers are special players. Treat them as such.

Ted Nolan isn't supposed to fix anything, the front office is. Look at the roster - The fact that they at least play hard now is an improvement of monumental proportions, considering for how long the team failed to do just that. I have no preferences as to whether Nolan stays or goes, but to make a decision based on current results isn't fair.

So far, there is absolutely no evidence to support that claim - For all we know, the current front office could easily be as inept as the Isles FO. I doubt it, but technically, they really haven't proven a thing yet.

While I agree it doesn't make sense from a logical perspective, if Tavares really *is* sick - and I'm not saying he is as I haven't a clue - of life on Long Island, they might not have a choice but to trade him somewhere down the line.

Technically though, I'm pretty sure 29 teams are interested in Tavares.

I don't think anyone is denying the roster was crap, but I don't think you can deny there's generally been a difference in hustle under Nolan, than under Ruff/Rolston. The correct answer to me, would be "a little of both".
