  1.

Anyone want to share? I sure as hell am not going first.

I have written about 2 dozen poems and about a dozen songs. I started playing piano a few years ago so I pen stuff when I get the muse

This is a poem I wrote about 15years ago. Its my best one IMO

    DARK CORNERS

     Sitting in the corner

    sipping strong black coffee

    I watch you frolic

    with a malevolent awe

    Youthful exhilaration

    spins you frivolously

    Giddy laughter betrays

    your feeble innocence

    Joy comes easy

    amid callow years

I am the Prince of Pleasure

    Patience is my strategy

    Planting flowers down diablerie paths

    Inviting you

    Feeding your hunger for happiness

Shielding you from life’s stinging rein

    I'm always there

    never manifesting far

    In the darkest corners

    waiting

    preying

    for pain to pierce

    for hope to languish

I had a dream while on probation.  All of SabreSpace was there.

We filled a hall at the Arena, smoking joints, and drinking beer.

A little smurf said, Let's go in, I must remind you how to cheer,

Thus we ate brownies, and got refills, then proceeded to our chairs.

In the Arena, in the center, where the spotlight shines so brightly,

Holy Mecca, where we've watched the Sabres grip their sticks so tightly,

That lovely logo that we cherish, was covered by a cage!

And in it, three men.  By now I think you know their names:

    Owner (clapping)

    GM (cheering)

    Coach (standing o)

So this is why we're here? - But it was just a dream,

And you wouldn't believe what dream-state owner tastes like!

    Ruff (gone)

    Regier (gone)

    Pegula (roasting)

not to shabby. I assume it was an on the spot creation

  2. I wonder if new posters get turned off by how long the pages are. I do.

I'm not a fan of forcing multiple threads into one super thread. I don't mind having 3 separate threads on similar topic. In fact I prefer it

    I know I won't bother back reading through a 10 page thread

One thing that can be intimidating to noobs is that some of the posters that are really smart will make sure everybody knows it. Even if they aren't that smart. So it's not always about the intellectual level you speak of, it's also the condescending remarks that follow making a casual fan want to leave.

One thing I have noticed is most people here have an incredibly dry sense of humor. I love it, others might not catch it as quickly.

Oh,  and the post merging.........  No other forum I'm on has post merging when there is no issues with post ######. Noobs that show up might think they're still stuck in 2003.

I agree with all of these thoughts.

  3. The Buffalo Cycle continues.  Ebullience in the fan base at the prospect of landing a big name (in this case Babcock) and then when the inevitable fail occurs, the same fan base fatalistically shrugs its collective shoulders and offers a number of reasons why it really wasn't a good idea to be interested in that big name in the first place.   LOL

what are you talking about.? Buffalo has doen well with big names especially recently.. Just because this one didn't go our way doesn't change that

  4. Disgusted by this outcome...Paul Hamilton said, "the Sabres were getting tired and had enough."

Great, are they not "tired" of losing everything they go after...haven't they "had enough" of that?

Now we get stuck with Luke Richardson, who has done no better than Chadd Cassidy in the AHL...what a joke.

(And if the Sabres were offering $7M/year, they really couldn't push it another $1M? That's embarrassing.)

Is this comedy or serious.. ?

  5. Exactly. Money wasn't the issue. People are grasping.

    ROTFLMAO

the Sabres were not going to raise there offer any more. They were not going ot be used in a bidding war. Their offer was more than  substantial...

LMAO I hope Murray gets a 50 year extension just to piss you off

  6. I totally think the Sabres and Babcock had a contract last night and he just said he needed to sleep on it and talk it over with his family and it was just between signing the contract or staying in Detroit.

Then the Leafs called Babcock and Babcock basically broke his word and the Sabres were like F you.

If that was the case then I DEFINITELY don't want him.

that does appear to be the perceived facts. I believe we pulled the offer after it was becoming obvious it was a bidding war

  7. So you think the Harbor Center makes Buffalo a more attractive city than Toronto?

You're making a series of assumptions, based on very limited info, about the way these negotiations have been conducted.  It seems highly unlikely that this is how events unfolded.

Its a state of the art center, and it helps because no other pro franchise has a such a setup, It makes Buffalo a heluva a hockey Hub... and Toronto has a real need to rebuild where Buffalo is on the other side of the rebuild

This entire thread is assumption.. I stick by my thoughts if your don't agree. Oh well

  8. I've got tickets for the Grateful Dead in Chicago.. That my only concert planned. But I usually see a few shows in Seattle every year when they pop up

One of my favorites is Railroad Earth

Anyone ever see Widespread Panic live?

I have a nephew that wants to go. I need to know what I'd be in for.

Panic is a pretty damn good band. They are a good throw back to 70''s rock and roll styles and do lots of improvisation. Its a pretty good party scene, but fans are pretty kind and pleasant

  9. The Buffalo News has filed its annual Sabres aren't accountable column:

    http://www.buffalonews.com/columns/mike-harrington/many-questions-but-sabres-wont-answer-20150427

Have at it about your thoughts on the lack of a season-ending press conference if you wish.

But I'm more interested in the media/sports dynamic here:

For years the News has felt the sort of entitlement reflected in this column.

For years sports teams have tolerated the media because they needed the coverage.

Have we come to the point where organizations can snub traditional outlets like the News and not suffer any consequences?

my thoughts are its the axe grinding Buffalo news. All I do now when I read their sports columns is roll my eyes and LOL. I'm really sick of their sports journalists
