I was all in as soon as it became obvious that Pegulas pocket book wasn't enough for Reiger to turn the team into a contender
-
thats cool.
I like Eichel Eichel all day... Sung to the song AIko Aiko. Thats what my friends have been singing
-
actually have a better answer to this question. Why would you want to trade for Connor McDavid when you are getting Jack Eichel.
DING DING DING, we have a winner. Eichel is going to be a great pro. We tanked to get one of the top 2, mission accomplished, move on
-
It ain't happening we tanked to guarantee us one of the top 2.. Mission accomplished.
Eichel Eichel All day. Jockamo feena na na nay, Jockamoa feena nay
-
This is really Stupid.. take Eichel and be happy. He's going to be a great player for Buffalo
Reinhart to Eichel for a decade
-
We tanked to be guarenteed one of the top 2 . Mission accomplished. Would of been nice to get MCConnor but Eichel is going to be a great player
Reinhart to Eichel for the next 10 years

still looking for a reason to hate Tim Murray, maybe a longer list would hit on something
-
No given
-
possibly 2nd overall definitely 3rd at worst IMO
-
McDavid of course, but the whole point of the tank was to guarantee one of the top 2, so I'm ok with either
-
good article on the Sabres strategic rebuild that led to the perceived tank
http://www.diebytheblade.com/2015/4/6/8351661/thoughts-on-tanking-the-lottery

If we pick first, and Arizona picks third, I would switch places for OEL and Domi. I'd consider it a fleecing. Would you?
I didn't realize that the Coyotes also have Cristian Dvorak. Could we get an entire line, best line in OHL, this draft by switching a measly two spots?
WOW. You would pass up on a generational talent ?
I'd run to the podium and take McDavid and never look back
-
the players
they played like crap all year long, now that the season is coming to an end they're going to start trying.. KICK IN THE NUTS to Sabres fans IMO.
-
Here's an idea that would making tanking even less likely in the future.
Why not make it so that there is still a lottery, but it is for the pick in the following year's draft?
For example, the lottery in April 2015 would be for the 2016 draft. Also, you could drop 4-5 slots no matter what.
I think it would go a LONG way to never seeing this garbage again. The reward would be so far away and so uncertain that tanking would not have a clear prize.
Are we really this crazy about losing a game in March 2015 that would not affect the draft order until summer 2016?
Thoughts?
I have no issue with tanking.. Sometimes you have to clean house and start over

Those selfish, selfish players! How dare they think of their own careers and families? Don't they know that there's an important draft pick to secure? A player that will likely take one of their places next season? How can they play horribly all season (which is what all those tankers out there really wanted) and now that other teams have caught on and are trying to out-suck the Sabres, they go out and win a game? Don't they get it? They're not supposed to think or play like the professionals they are being paid to be; they should just act like pawns in a fantasy hockey scenario which allows feverish fans to live their lives vicariously and DEMAND that the team lose so they can POSSIBLY secure the highest draft pick so that the team can POSSIBLY select a junior player who may POSSIBLY be one player on a team which still needs to be rebuilt. Ridiculous!
who the hell cares about those players
I just want a championship in Buffalo and that odds go up considerably with a generational player.
the fact that these players played like crap all year then take offense when we are excited about the top 2 picks and start playing well when it means nothing is a KICK IN THE NUTS
Screw these jerkoffs .. where was the inspired play when I spent $1000 and traveled with my family to Vancouver to watch them play..
So yeah I demand they finish the job they have done all year.
-
I concur. I've been a Buffalo sports fan my whole life, and I would like to win a championship. Winning these last games is a HUGE KICK IN THE NUTS to the fans who endured this rebuild, as well as just endured as Buffalo sports fans.
-
Yup, these guys are LOVING the fact that people are pissed.....and rightly so
Lots of shouts of joy coming from Sabres' dressing room.
rightfully so ????
we endure and entire season of these guys mailing it in, we are so close to a top 2 guaranteed pick and now the team is going to start playing like they care.
That would be the ultimate kick in the nuts to the fans.

I wonder if GMTM is thinking, after gaining a point on Arizona, what he'll do without either McDavid or Eichel?
Tank Ver 2.0 for 2015-16? Who will be available for draft in 2016?
No point in trying to rebuild if the right chips aren't in play. I think most fans would be fine with another substandard year if it meant the beginnings of success in 2016-17.
No most of us bought into the tank and rebuild, but none of us have another year of tank left in us.
Its time to move upward
-
Is today April 1st?
-
Comments like that should get him fired!
I think it should get him a promotion.
Fail to see why anyone would think he is a fool for be excited about player who is as talented and unique as McDavid.
Only a fool thinks we shouldn't be excited about the chance at landing this player
-
fans deserve to root for the tank. The only reward for being in last is to stay in last and get one of the top 2 players in this draft.
If Players have a problem with that then maybe they should of won more games
If fans or media or anyone else has a problem with that, well they're not thinking clearly
-
And ddaryl, some of us don't believe Darcy ever actually tried to win a SC. He only did just enough to maybe luck into one.
I agree. Which is why the tank is part of the rebuild had to fully flush Reigers turds
-
Another thing I hate about this is that they always talk about the anti tankers in terms of morals or ethics. I really don't give a crap about that. Tanking is a completely valid method of rebuilding, There is nothing morally deficient about it in my eyes.
I just think it's a cop-out. Tim Murry's job is to build a team that will win the Stanley Cup. Period. All tanking does is make his job easier. I wasn't willing to sacrifice three seasons just so the GM doesn't have to work as hard.
Gretzky Lemieux Crosby etc..
the fact is generational players make the odds of winning it all much higher. I'm sick and tired of being a brides maid and if tanking for 3 seasons is what it takes to get a generational player than I was is and will continue to be on board.
We've tried it the other ways and it has never worked out in Buffalo. Been thru 4 superbowls and 2 Stanley cups and I'm 0-6 like most of us... I'm just no longer willing to do it the other way, been down that road too many times.
Nope I actually view what Murray is doing as the harder thing. It easier to to make a half ass team that doesn't finish last. Its harder to face the media and fans and trade away players that really aren't part of the future but make your team worse in the short term, and deal with all the fall out.
Not happy with Eichel?

not true, its just you
1st the Sabres wanted Reinhart from the start IMO
2nd we tanked this year to ensure we got one of the top 2 players both generational talents.. Mission accomplished.
Not sure why the anger.. I'm Slightly disappointed but no anger.. we accomplished what we hoped to accomplish
