Grigs is not on the trade block and is not being showcased for a trade. Thats just silly

Murray was never going to tank intentionally. And you don't just hang a young roster out to dry without bringing in the right vets that can instil the right atitudes to move forward with.
Murray would of made the best of a bad season and a top draft pick but he defintely more happy with accepting a young team learning to win sooner than later

So does anyone have a good keyboard app to download? The auto correct and "Sym" key are really annoying with the default keyboard.
Been using swype.
Love hearing that peopel are moving away from Apple. I've had a S3 for 3 years and it still does everything I need it to do. Might upgrade with S6, but as of now I see no real benefit the S3 has stood the test of time in the smart phone industry

I will never cheer for the team that stole a Stanley Cup from Buffalo and plays for a fanbase that gives 0 f###s about said team unless they are good.
I will because its whats best for the Sabres

I am a fan of this rebuild.
Free Agency only makes a difference when the core is well established. Building through FA is a number 1 way to never win a damn thing ever

Who reads Bleacher Report slide shows?
lol.. yeah I hate bleacher reports format...
Ekblad, Bennett, Nylander are all ranked over Samson... seems a little harsh.
I don't see how that is even possible given the recent performances by Reinhart.. Reinhart was pretty dominant

Seattle shoudl be the 1st choice. Good rivalry waiting to form with Vancouver No other Hockey team in the North West USA, and lots of East coast transplants that love hockey.. me included. Great city too !!!
-
Buffalo is now officially Hockey Town USA
-
the tank is still on. This team would get destroyed in the playoffs so why bother pretending.
More interested in what happens 2-3 years from ow regarding playoff runs

Mac and Jacks African Amber. Can only be purchased on tap.
My personal favorite. Hard to come by since its a Northwest beer and they don't' distribute to far from the West Coast. BUT HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Darcy's teams pretty much soured me on Sabres hockey for the last 5 years. Really never much to get excited about. Just couldn't get into the club he had built after the runs in 2005 and 2006

.67 PPG in the ECAC is not inspiring. This guy maxes out as a fourth liner in the NHL and is more likely destined for the same role in the AHL. So good use of a contingent 7th round pick, but it's tough to get too excited over this prospect.
All successful hockey teams have these type of grunts that do the dirty work well. He may or may not be that player in the NHL long term, but for a 7th round pick he is a smart pick up, and if he does play that roll well in the NHL it will be a steal move, if he doesn't their was little downside.
-
I'm not saying Gionta or Moulson is that guy, but someone who is willing to sign on to a tank situation could very easily be someone who is just looking for the biggest paycheck. It doesn't automatically make them a good team guy and someone you want around.
Now don't you thing Murray is aware of that possibility. He is bringing in players he feels will make good mentors.
Moulson just seems ot be a high character kind of person, who honestly wants to be here, and One who is willing to help develop younger players and sacrifice some in exchange for that good payday
-
Is that right? Seems way too low.
He obviously wants to win a championship over money
-
Nope, cap hit is cap hit. total money/years. What you might be thinking is cap recapture, which involves contracts that end after the player is 35 and are front loaded (more money early). In that case, if the player retires before the end of the contract, the team that gained the benefit (paid more than the cap hit) in penalized.
No I was thinking NFL style contracts that are front loaded with lots of unlilely to be hit bonuses and if a player is cut early then the remaining cap hit is absorbed immediately, or in the case of a trade the remaining bonus money is the only money that is accelerated
Obviously the NHL cap is a much different beast...
-
It doesn't work like that -- the actual cash paid can vary (within limits) from year to year, but the cap hit stays the same for each year of the contract.
But the hit changes if a player is cut or traded.. right ? I seriously doubt Moulson is here for all 5 of those years
I'm more familiar with NFL style caps and contracts so maybe its different in the NHL
-
Because he's almost 31 years old, on the downside of his career, will be significantly diminished as a player by the time we are good and will want him to be, but he will still be taking up 5 mil of cap space, and he doesn't do anything in particular that I want the young guys to emulate.
I would rather pay him 3 years, 21 mil than 5x5.
I'm sure Murray and Company worded the contract where there won't be much of a cap hit on those last couple of years. But its going to be 3 years before the Sabres are solid playoff contenders again anyways. Plus I doubt Murray wants to tie up an extra 2 mill per season on 1 player when he will be looking to add pieces in the years ahead
There are plenty of Hockey Players producing well in their mid 30's..

I am the happiest dad in the entire world today!!
From the original trade deadline thread:
I remember when you posted that originally.
Have you told your son yet ?
-
please tell me you are kidding
Why ?
We need solid vets that can bring along the young guns, and we have to hit the cap floor. Over paying for a high quality player like Moulson who genuinely wants to help Buffalo with our rebuild is money very well spent
-
Got to love it. Trade Moulson for assets and sign him back a few months later.
Very happy to see Moulson back in Buffalo
-
Hey I heard We're closing in on Moulson... Anyone else hear that [sarcasm]
-
Vanek and Iginla is definitely not news. Not being involved with Stastny is a little disappointing. I'd really like him, but doubt we'd get him.
This team is 3 years away from making an impact FA signing like that. He would have to be willing to waste the next few years of his career
-
Who is Lauren Brill and should I put any merit in her saying she hears Matt Moulson is "strongly considering" Buffalo?
That would be awesome. He's a great player and he liked it here even though we were tanking.
He'll get overpaid but he is a great mentor.

No they had no options but to gut and rebuild NO OPTIONS !!
and with the the way the team is playing the rebuild is going better than planned
