I will savor these last games...unless they suck. Our playoff is getting out of the cellar. -
Sounds like a guy who's bitter for not getting the job. A job he was campaigning for not long ago.

Were they supposed to reach the playoffs with Granato? -

New Jersey is in free fall right now. They had 9 regulation losses in a row, only broken by an OTL against Philly. WTF Lindy. -
Part of that is other teams solving what you're doing. New coach has a new game plan. It works until another team figures out how to neutralize it. It's the same in the NFL. That's why I'm watching this Granato team so closely. Waiting for what he's doing to stop working. Thought that was the case against Pittsburgh, the Rangers and Boston. But then they come right back and win. Is that adjustment we're seeing?
-
I like the current team.

In two stripes.

We have a decent enough place for pizza here in NH (Sal's) but I like to make my own from scratch. I make your typical thin-crust NY style but recently tried making Detroit pan-style. Turned out good. It has that focaccia-like crust too, crispy on the bottom, with a nice edge of caramelized Brick cheese.

But who doesn't like meatballs?
-
Granato has experience and a track record. Just not in the NHL. And coaching is not rocket surgery.
-
More famous.
-
Because unlike you I haven't written off Granato as a bad candidate. Don Granato has a ton of coaching experience, just not as a head coach in the NHL until now. He's got a lot of experience developing talent. Seeing how Thompson, Dahlin and Mittelstadt are playing like the awoke from a coma impresses me. Not every oasis in the desert is a mirage. Don't trick yourself into ignoring what's in front of you.

Kind of like Dan Bylsma. Cup winner, 6 playoff appearances, 9 playoff series wins. A real no-brainer.
-
The last 4 mean bupkis without the first two. That's why they are 1 and 2.
-
I don't think you understood my post. If name coaches like those three are such slam dunks why are they even unemployed?
-
I highly doubt that.
-
So why are coaches like Boudreau, Gallant and Julien even available?
-
You're taking a chance with every hire.
-
I don't see the evidence for that. Why is Granato's ceiling limited? That may send the wrong message to the players. Management isn't buying in so why should they?
-
Not Boudreau or Torts. Brind'amor would be great if he'd come. We have a young team. I like that Gallant built an instant cup contender from castoffs the first year in Vegas. But I also think Granato is showing a lot. If the Sabres keep playing like this the last 7 games, I can't see replacing him. I think Jack would like playing under him. The one I question have about Granato is can he do more than just let the bees swarm? Look at the game last night. The Sabres frustrated the Rags with their relentless forechecking. But they couldn't finish their chances. Then in our end that swarming defense backfired if we failed to clear the zone because the guys were exhausted and the Rangers skill took over. It's not like Donny had the chance to install a system during a compressed season. They barely have time to practice. So the question with Granato is what can he do with a full training camp? But the way guys like Mittelstadt, Thompson and Dahlin emerged under him, like they never did under Krueger, Housley or any previous Sabres coach is impressive.
-
So which coach from a bad team do we want?
-
I don't find it that interesting. I mean which coach from a bad team are you interested in? I suppose the Brind'amor/Karmonos connection is curious but it would take a dazzling offer to pry him away from the Canes. Something I don't think Terry has the stomach for.

Toker was rough. D was okay but got caught in their end a few times. I think the risk of the Sabres playing with so much energy is if they fail to clear to clear their zone they are exhausted and things cycle downward. -
