Bad hires, bad decisions, bad luck, all of which compounds year after year. But unlike other years, I think the Sabres have the pieces to get over the hump. Despite our feelings about Adams, the Sabres have good players. The Amerks have a stocked pipeline. Lindy has to figure out how to get it all to click. Unlike most NHL teams the Sabres are forced to develop their own talent as signing top free agents is difficult with the long drought.

How those teams are run is all conjecture on our part. We have to make sense of the incongruity.

Nothing in this lottery was different than any other year EXCEPT they drew the balls live on stage. I don't know what to tell you.

But they did "keep score" in real time. They eliminated teams that weren't in the running and they showed the winning number for any remaining team at the final ball. Yeah, for 1.5 seconds. Enough to trigger people. And it's not just Buffalo falling back two spots. Boston, Philly, Nashville and Seattle all fell back two spots.
