In hindsight none of the names floated as targets were either traded or did much better than what the Sabres had. So by standing pat, the Sabres now have UPL without giving anything up. Another vector you ignore is the play of the defense. UPL's rise corresponds to the improvement of the Sabres on defense. (Something I said had to happen last year and got laughed at.)
