So to paint an insane situation just went to do an xray in our trauma critical care bay... had to cut thru entire main ER which now has 3 stretchers in each bay, two EMTs will full hazmat masks and gear bringing in 2 more pts, residents, drs and nurses running around and then there is an older gentleman possibly homeless sitting in a chair in front of ER desk oblivious to it all calmly eating McDonalds... You cant make this up.

poor respiratory is getting worked... out of the last 10 xrays in ER last hour only 1 was clear rest not good

Also the deaths being reported by John's Hopkins seems to be a couple days behind., eg. Westchester only reported to be 10... there was in New Rochelle yesterday and at least 2 at StJoes in Yonkers

We are testing like crazy and yeh i guess could be some flu, but symptoms more align with covid including granular infiltrated on chest xrays and CT. Also some we are seeing with dxs of multiple issues including the flu... wish I could post an example... hippa... PS this comedian is hysterical tell me to delete and ill move to political thread

Problem yesterday was we saw quite a surge, both in inpatient admission of positive and criticals going into ER and then trying to figure out space for them.

On the ground in Yonkers and NewRochelle both Hospitals getting swamped... downstate looks like almost a ghost town... very few people out.

It's on in Westchester, but walks ok... parks still open and now state parks are free til this ends... basically its for confined spaces and non-essential etc

which is why anyone with any of pneumonia sore throat, cough, fever treating as if positive and protecting ourselves. Too hard to tell if no test and we have had too many walkins that turn out to be positive. I am hoping previous deal in January into February was it and that I am immune at this point but until I get tested this is what I am doing...

1. True, but only if used properly, most people dont know how to properly decontaminate themselves and mask. Rule of thumb wash hand before... don mask hold in palm of hand, pinch nose piece and on n95 make sure tight seal around nose and mouth. Wash hands upon entering house dont take mask off first. They can keep people out of overloaded ERs, plan on how to deal with pts showing symptoms and those positive but not showing symptoms to stay at home.

Latest news from my wife's hospital, if quarantine is necessary but no symptoms only 7 days quarantine because they are that short on staff... I assume negative test too but who knows... such bs... dont go to a hospital unless you break a leg or show symptoms and call a head of time... first for your own safety and second because of short staff.

Agreed never reused an n95 in my life before this bs and its the best our hospitals can do. Yet NBA stars and rich and famous get tested when our hospital just got a few. CDC budgeting screwed this royally and folks can decide who to blame but what a ***** show. PS argued with hospital admin and nursing supervisors and been told to do my job. My wife and I assume we will get the virus.

Yeah I know, taken to wearing another mask on outside of mask so I dont contaminate outside of it with my hands but yup shortage we are told to keep up to a week. If pt is coughing i ditch it... and have squirreled away a few... best I can do. And nfw we are getting the above mask. Decon room ha... Bio hazard suit ha. Its a bigger shiite show then you might have imagined.
