Why would Sam sit out? His agent will propose a 1 year deal. The Sabres will either take it and trade him or just trade his rights prior. He clearly is going to leave, why not get an asset in return rather than letting him walk or do some weird hold out crap that lowers his value and makes it worse for everyone.

Maybe they enjoyed success because Eichel wasn’t playing.

I know why you reacted this way @Thorny . Something isn’t right though. Nothing the fancy stats will show. Is Jack a terrible influence off the ice? Does he put in the extra work? Does he take the young guys out get them all ***** up. I know if the leaders at my job half ass it or even worse, show no commitment to the organization, my commitment level will follow suit.
