OT - Look where you are going, go where you are looking
inkman replied to inkman's topic in The Aud Club
I’d love to blame my experiences on people using their phones but this happens to me the most at work, where cell phones aren’t allowed. Same goes for outside of work. It’s people with no visible distractions just mindlessly walking directly into my face. -
Lemme know when these terrifying aliens start thinning out the population. I’ll pop some corn and set off some fireworks.

Shopping, in general sucks, because people in general suck. I shop at Aldi down the street from my house. At most there are maybe 20 people in the store at any given time, unless it’s a weekend where people are buying party stuff. Even with theses low numbers, there will be one or two shoppers who seemingly think the store is theirs and everyone else is just a NPC in the background. I’m usually in a decent mood in these situations. Just got outta work or any weekend in general. It does amaze me with the obese society we have become, how easily one person can block an entire aisle with their large posterior and a shopping cart. They act incredulous that somehow they are in the way.

I like the ole idea. The above situations are exactly what I try to avoid. I don’t want to talk to anyone. I don’t want anyone to look at me. I don’t want anyone’s day affected by me one iota. Just act like you are paying attention to life so I don’t have to help guide you through it. The driving threads are coming -
This is an old adage I heard at work years ago, it still holds true to this day. It was tossed around for safety concerns. You can get really injured in a factory if you aren’t careful of your surroundings. This also applies outside the workplace. Or at least it should. Every single day I have to adjust the route I’m walking because someone essentially walks directly at me, with no intention of engaging me or interacting with me. I’m not certain what their plan is. One of us is going to have to adjust and these morons seem completely oblivious they are walking directly into the path of another person. I’ve gotten to the point where I usually make it very obvious that I am adjusting my route because of said person’s trajectory. Either these people have absolutely no self awareness, they can’t even fathom that their actions might impact another person. Or they are super arrogant just assuming everyone is going to move for them.

It’s not often I’m at the store high as I don’t like driving stoned but it certainly quells my anxiety about lines…and just about everyone else. 😀

Pardon my ignorance but aren’t there sensors in the road detecting if there are vehicles at that light? So in theory, if you are 3 car lengths behind the first car you could be inhibiting natural traffic flow as the light doesn’t sense your vehicle, giving priority to a lane it shouldn’t. (I’m thinking left hand turn lanes specifically)

Six feet is fine is you at least look like you are in line behind someone. Most of the people I see aren’t even facing the direction of the line. So I have to ask if they are in line.

Oh I’ve got plenty to be happy about. It generally has little or nothing to do with anyone outside my circle. I just thought an OT that people could relate to would be ideal in these lean hockey weeks.

Yeah I mentioned the COVID thing. I understand the gun point but here in Rochester just this week someone reported a gun sighting at a Walmart. I immediately called ***** (not that it couldn’t happen) but unfortunately, we usually find out about active shooters after the damage is done. Lo and behold, no one had a gun. A whole section of town was shut down, worrying hundreds of people over something some Karen saw they thought was a gun. I’m glad everyone is safe and being overly cautious is good but you better know what the ***** you are talking about if you are going to throw that out there. It’s the reason yelling fire in a crowded movie theater is a crime. You are causing the issue.

I was just gonna touch on this. You are correct. It’s people be oblivious to anything going on around them. They does remind me of someone who was a little too observant at…ehm…Pittsford Wegmans. I rarely shop there but it’s one of 4 Wegmans within 10 minutes of my house. So I enter the 7 items or less line. I think I had 8-9 things but who ***** cares right. So this 97 year old lady behind me starts nagging that I have too many things. I’m like WTF are you talking about grandma. Apparently he 4’10” ass couldn’t see the divider between me and the person in front of me. So I get all heated at this old bag because she has the observational powers Mrs. Magoo.

Point me to where this happens. I’d rather deal with that than every single time I’m in an establishment I gotta ask dumb mofos if they are in line. Either make it appear like you are in the line or keep shopping losers. This fills me with so much rage. I DONT WANT TO TALK TO PEOPLE. DO WHAT YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO DO. I LOATHE TALKING TO PEOPLE. GET YOUR ***** TOGETHER.

I’ve reached my breaking point with mother ***** lines at stores or fast food joints. Can people just stand 2-3 feet behind the person in front of them like the good ol days? I realize COVID had an impact on how we do lines as a society but this was happening long before the pandemic. Almost every single time I go somewhere where there is a line, I have to ask the person who is 10 feet away from the next customer if they are in line. The lady I got behind at Aldi today was a solid 20 feet behind the customer in front of her. The cashier from a different line had to tell her to move closer to the rest of the line. What is wrong with people?

11 forwards and 7 defenseman lineup to start the season??

Adding the softest player in the league to the softest roster in the league doesn’t make a lot of sense, IMHO. -

I’ve definitely heard some of that but I think it’s a small vocal minority. Most casual fans want them to win now and a lot of knowledgeable people see a window opening and want the Sabres to capitalize on that opening. I’m torn. I like the vibes GMKA has implemented. I also desperately want them to make a run this season. -

Meh, the dude is an ass. He was a great hockey player but not every likable IMHO. This is also coming from the guy who disliked Hasek (before trade demand), Danny Briere, Chris Drury, Thomas Vanek, Jack Eichel, Jim Kelly, Thurman Thomas (before he retired), Bruce Smith and Andre Reed. All of them rubbed me the wrong way. Generally unlikable people (ok Danny wasn’t unlikeable I just didn’t want a Smurf for the face of the franchise). -

Holy Christ did Jamie Lee Curtis act her balls off in The Bear. Anyone that is close to someone struggling with mental health issues, this is a must see. -

Amerks colors you don’t say -
That’ll start to happen. Best athletes (other than QB) switched to edge and LB a while back. Obviously you can’t mention best athlete without mentioning WR. I feel like 25-30 years ago the best athletes on offense started transitioning to WR. Calvin Johnson, David Boston, DK Metcalf, Randy Moss. Just freaks of nature.

Yeah I don’t record anyone’s age. Just experience. They usually go hand in hand.
