I saw three different fireworks displays this year. Last night's in Boston, NY was the best. Whoever did that show "gets" fireworks. As you can imagine, there were lots of little kids around. There was a group near us, and I could hear everything the kids were saying. When something cool happened, they would say "'Murica!" I was f***ing disgusted at all of you cool kids who think that phrase is cute and harmless.

I think it's likely something to that effect happened that led to Vesey souring on Nashville. It may have been several years worth of pressure to quit school early. Still speculating, he might have a low opinion of the South, like a lot of New Englanders seem to.

If Ullmark can't manage, we have enough assets where a mid-season trade is possible. It's obvious GMTM believes in Lehner, but he's banking assets as well. For example, if Ennis can play again and looks good, he could return a decent goalie come February and save our play-off chances.

I'm not one for false hope, but I do believe in good people. And Matty Mo is good people. You people without kids and family might not appreciate this, but I'm willing to believe Moulson allowed himself to get soft because he was happy with his situation: big, lengthy contract, kids and wife happy at home, babysitter to the team's superstar... It can happen without even recognizing it. He's no dummy and has a sense of honour. I'm willing to see if he can/has changed his habits and upped his game during the off season. I think he can be still good for 20 goals the next few seasons if he puts the work in.

I agree K9. But, Lucic is a Cup-winning, +20 goals, Canadian going to a Canadian team to help protect Canada's most important asset. Of course the NHL media (in Canada) will put it at the top of the list. And then the Canadian elites will applaud an anti-nationalism speech by a visiting dignitary.

Upon a little reflection on my patio this morning, I have mixed feelings on Kane. On the ice, I like what he brings to this roster, and think his contribution is ideal, if not still fully at his potential. Of course, if he's abusing women and corrupting the young players, he needs to go. We can see the nature of his issues he has had with teammates in the past, now, with his lack of discipline. I hope there's a way to salvage his roster spot because he'll be difficult to replace in the short term, but I'm not willing to ignore the antics at this point, either. What a tough position he has put everyone in.

I don't know. But if we're to believe the scuttlebutt that he likes us, why screw around until the middle of August? It's not like he can get more of a contract, as I understand it, anyway. Better to be in the system as soon as possible IMHO.
