An AI could absolutely parse fancy stats and assemble a team based off of that. This is precisely what AIs were made to do.

Jeff Skinner rumors, trade and buyout speculation swirling
... replied to Flashsabre's topic in The Aud Club
The only thing that might work better for Skinner is nothing happening at all. The problem with that is all of the scuttlebutt over a possible buyout. A trade is the most face-saving move at this point. -

I just hope it's not a buyout. A trade makes more sense for all parties involved. -
Agree that Kocecny would be the target but I doubt they give him up. I said Tippett because he can score and quick look at stats suggests he's pretty responsible on the ice. I'm not saying I would do this, but it seems like the most probable, again, from a quick look. I don't really know Philly all too well.

Mitts did jack-all in Colorado's playoff run. Did UPL drag us into the playoffs by sheer will? No. Using either of these guys as examples of misplaced fan ire is presumptuous. -

Benson = 18y/o @ $.95m Skinner = 32y/o @ $9m Being slightly above replacement level means several different things for each. And I don't know if GAR/60 adjusts for position, so that number for Byram could be less meaningful than +/- or more meaningful than +/-.

2024 Stanley Cup Final - Edmonton vs Florida

You realize anyone can just go backwards in the thread and read what transpired. No one called your opinion "an insufferable narrative". The insufferable narrative is the one the NHL is already building up around McJesus and will inflate to truly insufferable proportions if Edmonton wins the Cup. -

The "every scenario is on the table" line would indicate he has talked to Skinner's camp. "Every scenario" by default must include a trade and, by default, a trade requires Skinner's blessing. -

This and the Rod the Bod quote are like good cop/bad cop; one supports the other. Especially with Waddell using the phrase "fresh start". Why would Skinner need a fresh start? None of this really matters, though, because we have our own issues with Skinner. For a $9m cap hit and using a High School Musical song for his goal song he needs to have a two-way game full stop. For that matter, Owen "Don't hurt me" Power better live up to his $8.35m cap hit or his snowflake keister should get traded the heck out of here, too. It's bad enough Cozens and Dangles couldn't bother to earn their keep, we have more expensive property stinking up the ice? Why does anyone tolerate this nonsense? -

It's not "some people" - it's "all people". It is how our brains work. All you are doing by saying "some people" is excusing and/or ignoring the same traits in cohorts you happen to agree with or believe are harmless. And by doing that you become the pot calling the kettle black. Let's not water down or redefine what a conspiracy is. A conspiracy is a secret plan by a group to do something unlawful or harmful. By that definition and in accordance with history, we do indeed "live in a word of conspiracies..." because there are always criminals plotting and executing schemes. What you are referring to is what the media frames as narratives that are disagreeable for whatever reason. As an example, a finance group might release a report saying the economy is approaching its worst levels in generations, and the opposition to the seated political administration will pick up the report and use it as to attack the sitting regime. The sitting regime will claim it's false, and, in an attempt to discredit the report, will label the report, those who made it, and those who use it as conspirators "using fake information" to attack them. The media runs with this language - honestly because many are hopelessly dumb, ego-laden sock puppets - and most people are none-the-wiser because of the cult-like tendencies of people to believe those who have, artificially or not, an elevated status. Cult-like behavior is normal for humans despite the traditional American theme of individualism. Relatively few people are individuals and when you find one, they're often called crazy, mocked, ignored, and generally don't fit in with the rest of the herd/cult. The people held up as "individuals" are actually people used to shepherd the rest. Tattoos are a great example: tattoos are explained as some way of expressing individuality, but if you line up 20 people and 10 of them have tattoos all you will see are 10 people with tattoos and 10 people without and no individuals.

If Edmonton - and the refs - come back from down 3 - 0 and win the Cup the NHL will insufferable for the next two seasons. Come to think of it, the entire story almost seems too good to be true: a perfect narrative to build up the legend of McJesus. It would be horrific. -

If Florida played an entire game this would be over. Still, the refs gave Edmonton the edge. -

The reason we're getting rid of Skinner is because he is a one-way player. So why would we be interested in Kane? -

Edmonton is playing with desperation and Florida is not matching. We'll see what they look like after the intermission - can Florida pick up their game or will Edmonton tire out.
