I'll ask again: what's the difference between the pork approved for Katrina and the pork that House Republicans are so up in arms about this time?

Can someone please tell me why the House Republicans won't vote for the Hurricane Sandy relief funding? Is it just a question of the pork-related items contained in the bill the Senate put forth? I don't get it. There were BILLIONS of pork dollars involved in the Katrina bill and Republicans had no problem with that then. What's different now?

Agreed 100%. Gailey and Fitz are the types of guys you route for just want to see do well. It would be so much easier to part with them if that wasn't the case. My hope is that Fitz ends up in his backyard in Arizona as a backup to some rookie they draft. I think he'd be a great mentor given his knowledge of the game. As for Chan, I hope he takes some time off just to decompress. You just know the losing ate him up inside. GO BILLS!!!

Fitz has indeed played his last game in Buffalo. I just don't see how he can he brought back with any shred of credibility going forward. His contract is not an albatross to prevent it either. That said, I would be even more ecstatic if we replaced 5 players on our defense. GO BILLS!!! That may be true about Brandon, but he's nothing if not pragmatic. Somebody over on the Wall posted that Fitz has just two wins against winning teams. I'm not sure if that's true but the point is that the vast majority of the fan base has lost faith in the most important position on the team. Cohesiveness or not, that can't be ignored when there has been no indication of improvement by Fitz. GO BILLS!!!

That's a great question. It was obvious from the first game of the year when Fitz triple-hitched an out pass, that he was NOT comfortable at all. Nobody triple-hitches an out pass. Ever. Not even in high school. Fitz was thinking way too much and the game never seemed to come to him as a result. GO BILLS!!!

If nothing is done by the 1st, taxes will go up for everybody. Any deal reached afterward will be retroactive if Congress says it is and they will. I firmly believe any deal will mean no tax raise for the lower 98%. So even if the deal takes a few months, your 2013 taxes will be unaffected. Voila! The bigger issue will be the bullschit games the Repubs play with the debt ceiling.

I might have to resort to a 2-ply brand as opposed to the regular 3-ply cushion my ass is accustomed to. This is the result of prosecuting two wars AND lowering taxes. We were never asked to sacrifice, unlike in previous generations. Instead we were encouraged to go shopping. Time to pay the piper, folks. Seriously. Worst explanation of a busted play I've ever heard. Apparently the call was for a Spiller run but the safety had cheated up to take that away and Fitz didn't want to risk a loss on the play OR call a timeout, so he kept it. Safety is the QB's first read on every play and if he was cheating up Fitz should have easily audibled to another play. From what I saw, he didn't even look at the safety. He just took the snap and lunged for a couple. Chan didn't know that SJ had gotten the first down on the previous play. He came down with the ball right at the marker but still. The refs called a first down. Unreal. GO BILLS!!!

At 15-31 after yesterday's game, I think it's safe to say the curtain will be drawn on the Gailey/Fitz era once the final gun goes off against the Jets in the season's last game. It's simply an untenable situation from a marketing standpoint. It isn't the losing season so much as it is the fashion in which they've lost. There has been open frustration by SJ and others all season long and it's way past festering. They ran for the bus at the first sign of adversity yesterday. In a word, they've stopped playing for Gailey. I wouldn't be surprised if Gailey resigned due to health reasons. He's had heart issues before and it's obvious this is weighing on him. I think he takes the losing very personally and he looks weary and often times lost on the sidelines. That 1st down QB sneak yesterday? I don't buy for a second it was a busted play that Fitz thought would have no chance against a S cheating up to stop Spiller. The coach didn't know what down it was. Makes me wonder about other things as well. Thank you, Chan Gailey, for your service. Wish it could have been better for all of us. I'll look forward to watching Fitz be the backup QB in his home state of Arizona next year. Great guy, great teammate. I wish him well. But it's over in Buffalo. GO BILLS!!!

I can foresee a day when authorities, perhaps not yet created, will mine social websites for comments like this and unsuspecting subscribers will be subject to additional scrutiny as a result. I wish I had advice for you as an uncle. Just let him know you're there for him. Most teens come through these transformational years a bit wiser for the experience. If there is a change in behavior that accompanies the dramatic teen-angst driven rhetoric, you'll know it's more serious and you'll know what to do as a loving relative. Trust yourself.

The idea that this isn't political is naive. Public safety, as it relates to the citizenry is, by definition, political. Having the discussion is not disrespecting those who perished today. Not at all. Indeed, having the discussion is a very important process for us to engage in. On many levels. Not the least of which is that it helps us to deal with our grief.

Every parent's worst nightmare realized. This one hits home unlike any others. My prayers go out to all the families touched by this senseless tragedy. God knows what those little ones witnessed in those moments of horror as they were led out of the school and asked to close their eyes. Good idea, Chris in Utah.
