  1. Having a hard time with the exchange but John Wawrow reporting either deal was done last Friday or that Skinner’s camp gave JBOT a counter offer that he has yet to respond to.
  2. Kevin Hayes to Philly.
  3. I am 100% sure this gets done. The Sabre’s know what the number has to be and will eventually get there. Not only do they need to get it done, but Skinner wants to be here and knows that an extra three quarters of a million up to one million will have zero impact on their ability to be competitive.
  4. He’s on the market because Toronto is trying to dump his salary. They know they have to be careful how they handled him which is why they are only looking at teams he is willing to go to.
  5. So you want them to pick a player who can play immediately but it’s alright if they pick a guy who has a contract that keeps him overseas till 2021?
  6. I would bet on it.
  7. According to Matt Bove, since 2015, only Kane and Ovechkin have more even strength goals then Skinner. I think that makes him better then good.
  8. The top chart includes all rounds so based on the points we got from our guys and eliminating the teams that drafted higher in years 9 through 6 I’m guessing would catapult us up. Again, I’m going kind of blind because the charts blur when I try to enlarge them on my phone.
  9. However, going to only five years probably moves them up to top 5. Again, the larger point is that at least 90 percent of impact players get drafted in the top two rounds. I was disputing the notion that every successful team finds Pavel Datsyuk in the 7th round!
  10. A) I consider in the middle to be pretty good because it really comes down to hitting on one player after the second round. You hit on one and you sky rocket up the ratings. B) Anytime someone picks a number other then a multiple of 5 or 10 I assume they show that number because it supports their agenda.
  11. This I agree completely with which is why I have been so sure he would sign. In the end, Buffalo will make it happen.
  12. Interesting that you chose the last 9 years. You know this is all cyclical and a large amount of luck after the first two rounds. One or two players hit and you catapult up the charts. I will look closer when I get home but I think I can make your charts tell my story. It’s interesting what you can do with numbers,
  13. This new notion that every other team finds superstars in rounds 2-7 is laughable. First, the numbers show the Sabre’s do quite well in that regard. Secondly, they have a couple of guys already on or breaking into the roster and as LGRM has pointed out a few times, more on the horizon. You will all be surprised how much better third and fourth liners look when you actually have two top lines and quality defenseman.
  14. Losing focus isn’t always bad, sometimes even self gratifying albeit at the expense of the other.
  15. The other three issues that seem to be continually over looked; 1) they’d have to offer more then Jack is getting. 2) we have to outbid others 3) they player has to want to come. The same people worried about 7 and 8 years from now are the ones now crying over O’Reilly. 9 million is the market and 30 goal scores aren’t easy to find.
  16. In 5 or 6 years the cap will be over $100 million and no one will care. Okposo and Moulson deals sucked. Ecuador they never performed up to their cap hit. long term deals work if the player produces for at least half the deal, preferably two thirds of it.
  17. Once again, my pessimism is slowly replaced by faint optimism and I decide to renew by tickets. I know there was talk last year of going with cheaper tickets. I’m just trying to gauge interest to see if the group is again interested in me helping to secure same tickets. Because there is one less home game my overall cost is staying the same so, in turn, tickets would remain somewhere in the $90-$100 range. Obviously without a schedule I’m not expecting any guarantees just a yea or nay at this time.
  18. The argument works both ways. You just don’t know until a player is put in proper role.
  19. I think while it’s a plausible opinion, it’s incorrect. I think he has way more “hockey smarts” then Jason Dawe. Hopefully we find out this year when they ice two viable top lines.
  20. EROD would have been the 6th highest scoring forward on the Bruins and 9th on the Blues not counting trade deadline acquisitions. i don’t think some give him enough credit for the season he had. I also don’t think some realize what qualifies for a solid third liner in today’s NHL. He is a perfect third line, regular season forward with ability to fill in anywhere without looking out of place and enough of a professional to assume fourth line minutes if the team acquired rentals at the deadline.
  21. No way both Duchene and Skinner are at same price. Centers get a premium.
  22. Of course, I defer to you with matters to do with CBA but I really think they get this done this time. It really comes down to a better, more inclusive definition of hockey related revenue and the owners won’t give up easy but they’ll move the mark just enough.
  23. You’ve posted at least twice about a looming lockout. I see get little possibility of that. Strike maybe? The owners love this deal. Players want to get rid of, or change formula of escrow and want to go to Olympics. There’s a deal to be made.
