  1. I’m 90% sure it was reported at the time that it was Buffalo, Toronto and Pittsburgh and only Buffalo had the cap space. It’s hard to believe that Carolina would’ve made that trade if they had any options. Contrary to board opinion, most GM’s aren’t idiots. They may differ on what’s valuable but they aren’t in the habit of rejecting good trade offers in order to accept almost nothing.
  2. I’m hoping this is the lesson learned by JBOT after ROR. We have no idea what really went on behind the scenes but it felt like they were determined to take best deal offered. Hopefully, the current mindset going forward, “this is what we think the asset is worth, if we get it fine, if not, we are comfortable keeping it.”
  3. Actually, missing over twenty games in each of last two seasons will hamper his ability to get a six year deal. And yes, everything I write is my opinion unless I quote someone but I appreciate that you feel it’s fine that I state my opinion.
  4. I like McCabe too, but he has played less then sixty games the last two years. He’s not getting a six year deal till he proves he can stay healthy.
  5. The only thing I would add to this, when did he trash team after he left?
  6. First, Man, I’m getting old. Would have swore GMTM drafted him. Second, I don’t give JBOT any credit or blame for 2017 draft other then maybe Casey. He was hired six weeks before draft and is on record as relying on GMTM’s staff and his rating method. Furthermore, most NHL GM’s rely almost entirely on their staff after the first, maybe second round. GMTM was one of few GM’s that was hands on when it came to actually going out and watching prospects.
  7. I’ll say this again. I understand concerns over going after people he’s familiar with, but Bales would be a solid pick up.
  8. Lasksonen is not his.
  9. He’s only been with them for a year. He was most sought after when he left Pittsburgh last year.
  10. I’m going to say it again, they are not paying anyone other then Dahlin in a few years more then Eichel unless they acquire McDavid or Matthews.
  11. I know you can do the math. That’s less then 7 per team and Tampa had about ten so the obvious answer to the question is NO, there weren’t s lot of third and fourth liners scoring over 30.
  12. To me Risto and Montour are kind of connected. You either have to believe that one of them is a true number one pairing guy or one has to go. Neither of them make sense as a third pairing guy and it’s very unlikely they can be your second pair together.
  13. I If the Sabre’s acquire a second line center and winger then Casey and Sherry become bottom six players and suddenly woefully lacking becomes incorrect. I’m not opposed to signing him but your original post said “immediately upgrades bottom six” and that is a huge leap.
  14. They have their two top forwards in at less then $20 million. I’ll bet that by end of second year of Skinner’s contract Buffalo is in bottom half of league with regards to cap hit of top line!
  15. A) I’m talking the next 5 years. I’m not worried about the last three. It’s workable. B) Anything Chicago had to do, is trumped by 3 Stanley Cups. C) Toronto has more then Marleau’s contract to deal and chances are they may be able to move it. D) As bad as Okposo and Moulson contracts were they never prevented the team from acquiring talent. E) How many years has there been a cap? How many young guys have been dealt because of cap hell? Tampa benefitted from a great state tax code, Kucherov having any idiot for an agent and no offer sheets. I believe the era of offer sheets is about to begin.
  16. I really don’t get the angst over the last couple of years or the extra $1 to $1.5 million.
  17. Do people realize how many players currently make $9 million or more. This is a great deal and was never any real doubt it would get done.
  18. Actually, I find Wawrow fairly accurate, albeit conservative. Anyway, just drive down the 33, the billboard with the jackpots has one at $53 million, the other at $530 million. That has to mean something, correct?
  19. Yeah, I was distracted while reading.
  20. Having a hard time with the exchange but John Wawrow reporting either deal was done last Friday or that Skinner’s camp gave JBOT a counter offer that he has yet to respond to.
  21. Kevin Hayes to Philly.
  22. I am 100% sure this gets done. The Sabre’s know what the number has to be and will eventually get there. Not only do they need to get it done, but Skinner wants to be here and knows that an extra three quarters of a million up to one million will have zero impact on their ability to be competitive.
  23. He’s on the market because Toronto is trying to dump his salary. They know they have to be careful how they handled him which is why they are only looking at teams he is willing to go to.
  24. So you want them to pick a player who can play immediately but it’s alright if they pick a guy who has a contract that keeps him overseas till 2021?
