  1. The system isn't working. Edmonton is back at it again. This isn't a difficult concept. There's no way in hell Edmonton should have gotten this much out of the draft lottery, and yet here we are. And now they've made it even easier for them to do it again by making it possible for less terrible teams to have a better shot. So all the have to do next season is improve marginally and they'll be right back in the running for #1 again. That's f*cked up.

So you are just butt hurt (to use your word) over who won, not whether or not the system worked, right?

I wonder if all the teams that are still playing give a rat's fart about all of this nonsense.

  2. The NHL should care. If they think people are pissed now, how about next year when Edmonton finishes 24th and drafts 1st again because they shifted the odds?

How many different ways can I say this? Here's another.  The GM of the last place team by design, complaining about the system because he isn't picking first,... means that the system is working.

GMTM, shut up and pick second. You knew the rules going in.

  3. Him bitching about the process is the exact reason why the process is the process. I'm glad it will only get worse for teams who tank next year.

And what about his statements earlier in the week where he said he was all about Eichel because we were more likely to get him and he didn't want to make himself crazy thinking about it?

He's not looking good through all of this. Let's just hope he builds us the team we want and all this won't matter anyway.

  4. Because "we'll make the best of it" isn't the same as "we're excited about who we're going to draft and about this team's future."

Or the bizarre WJC comment.  Or "I feel for the fans..." (the fans already buying Eichel t-shirts, BTW).

Where did he say this? I've only seen people saying that he said this.

  5. UFRASU (Upon further reflection and sobering up), I'm still happy with this result. We're getting a great player and I don't really care where the other guy goes.

    From this article.

    http://m.edmontonsun.com/2014/12/30/nhl-scout-evaluates-mcdavid-eichel-ahead-of-matchup

“He’s tough. You do notice that McDavid is more feisty -- he’ll shove, he’ll push. Jack will take the (bleep) and deal with it but he won’t strike back as much as Connor. In college, guys will go after Jack and he’ll look at them like: ‘Are you kidding me? I’ll see you after the puck drops.’”

I like this difference and prefer Eichel here.

  6. It's amazing how little I care about this.

Wake me up when we start winning games during an honest to goodnes season.

Lottery,… are you kidding me?! I can't wait until we are counting on our GM to actually build a GD team instead of relying on a bunch of ping-pong balls to do it for him.

  7. Price is going to be difficult. I doubt Boston is going into full rebuild mold looking for picks and prospects. They'll be looking for NHL players in return. The Sabres are whoa-fully short on quality NHL players at the moment. If they are interested in picks and prospects? Pretty much all assets except this years top pick, Girgensons  and Risto are in play. If I can get Lucic signed long term I would gladly give-up a package built around Reinhart and #1's. I would need to be able to talk to Lucic before a deal is completed, a rental player, no matter who it is , just doesn't make sense for the Sabres at this point.

...and then you had to go and post this...

  8. I watched it on the net. Sam wasn't special but he was fine.

Thought he played the same sort of game we saw at the WJC and with Buffalo with his effectiveness falling somewhere in between. Not dominant, but not as weak physically as October and certainly not slow.

He's still not strong on the puck. Got bodied badly a few times. Not shy though. Made some exquisite passes.

Agree with the post above about the PP.

He doesn't look too suited on the wing and I really hope the Sabres don't break him in there. Why force him to use half the ice when he is so good at seeing it all? Why make him work the wall, when he needs to get stronger?

His game will be all about connecting with his linemates.

Grigo was meh, but his assist was gorgeous. Larsson was the best Amerk.

Good post, although, if he needs to get stronger, isn't putting him on wing to work the wall exactly where we want him now?

  9. Mine was when we lost to Carolina. Even though they are called the no touch years, that was only for the regular season. People can say what they want about injuries, but we weren't built for the playoffs then (that was even more evident the next year). I also wasn't thrilled with Ruff after that (sorry Eleven).

  10. Have you ever been hit on the big bone in your wrist by a metal stick before? I have as I played goalie my whole life. It ###### hurts and it hurts bad for at least five minutes. There was no embellishment and who are you to say he was overreacting? Until you've actually been there then it's best to not comment. Stones playoffs are probably over because of a two handed baseball swing to a basically bare wrist that broke a bone. You guys that assume everything, but have never actually been there are ridiculous. I love PK, but that was a punk move.

Shrader and I both play. We both know how to embellish (I'm assuming Shrader does). It may have hurt him, but Stone embellished.

And I'll believe his playoffs are over when he's not on the ice for the next game. The way that coach was talking after the game shows me he's not against some gamesmanship.

  11. Not even close. Stewart along with Ennis and even Kane are nowhere near Lucic as an impact player.

I know Lucic ran over Miller and the hearts of the fans, to say he would be about the same as Stewart or Ennis is better, come on. Put the hurt feelings aside. First Ennis and now Stewart? If people didn't want to have a serious conversation than just lock the thread, this is going beyond silly.

As far as O'Reilly, not many players with any talent wouldn't come in and lead the Sabres. They just lost 120 game sin two years, it shouldn't be hard to lead in any category. If the conversation was just about O'Reilly? Sure I'd say make he deal. Either/Or with Lucic, your talking two players on far different levels with O'Reilly having a lot of catching up to do.

    Fantastic typo.
