  1. I should also point out that I don’t have an advanced stats team tracking my results. I really wish I did, cuz just because I prefer my proper hand on D, doesn’t mean I’m better at it. I might be way better offhand,... it’s just not as much fun so I don’t care.😀
  2. I’ll just say that playing D, I’d rather be on my proper hand. As a forward, I absolutely prefer my off hand. I wonder if NHLers are often put in position they might not prefer because, “well, that’s the way we do it.”
  3. So, just some more food for thought. I’ve seen those handedness/effectiveness charts, but you even said that if they are playing their off hand, it’s usually the lower pairings. Wouldn’t that mean that teams don’t have a guy good enough so they stick someone in to that position who is already not that good? Doesn’t seem like those numbers are all that scientifically reliable.
  4. Again, my point is that just because these players have learned to play this way since the time they were ten yo doesn’t mean that their handedness is the reason they are better at it. It just means they’ve practiced longer at in. Start an off handed D from ten years old and maybe he is just as good at it and maybe brings something else that we don’t know about. Me, too. Not sure that is true in the NHL i love these discussions. I always learn something.
  5. I’m not trying to be a dick here. But how many times, when you are facing forward, Is your play the backhand? I think you are way more likely to send the puck behind the net to your partner than you are to start a breakout from the wall. And even then, I’d rather be on my off hand.
  6. And yet how many times have you protected the puck from the forward along the half boards and had to center the puck for the breakout on your backhand? I think the are pros and cons to both, and correlation is not causation. Just because kids have learned to play that way since they were ten doesn’t mean that their handedness is the reason they are better at It.
  7. I know that they prioritize it on D. And they most likely do from the time they are kids playing D. Just because they have practiced it for years doesn’t mean it is the reason they are better on their “proper” hand. I still think it doesn’t matter and I bet there is a study or two that proves it.
  8. I’m choosing to stay awake. I don’t want to laugh at Belichick’s Subway commercial,... but it’s funny.
  9. F’n love it!
  10. It really is a victimless crime. DPWs get a budget whether they need it or not. Might as well make them spend it.
  11. Wish I could, but real story is even better. I work with a guy from Woodstock who went to college in WNY. He and his buddy had a whole system where when heading home on breaks, they would take them down and leave them, to be picked up on subsequent trips, or drive the car around while the other took it down. They had a stack of them and his dad would use them to roast corn over fires then throw them away. When cleaning out his garage a few years ago he said there were only two left (a wooden Tonawanda Creek and Wyoming County). Knowing where I was from and where our cabin was, he gave them to me. Maybe me stealing them is a better story...
  12. Most definitely, but not by me, and almost 35 years ago.
  13. I love the Polish porch, but sometimes, the rain needs to STFU. IMG_0311.MOV
  14. It’s a pretty forward thinking move if you realize how compressed the schedule is going to be next season. Good goalie tandems are going to be really valuable next season. Let’s hope ours is just that.
  15. Best. Complaint. Ever.
  16. Exactly, and as long as they know where to go positionally, handedness really doesn’t matter all that much in the defensive zone for a forward. It probably matters maybe a little for defensemen (but only on the offensive zone as a positive if off hand). I really believe that “handedness” is irrelevant. Just be good.
  17. Seriously. Does handedness even matter in the nhl anymore? Is LW, C ,RW evEn relevant anymore? I thought most teams used F1, F2, F3 now in terms of designing schemes.
  18. Game seven. Nice. So glad we traded Zadorov. He couldn't even show up to meetings on time.
  19. With everyone else wanting out, maybe Price does, too?
  20. The name struck me.
  21. It's impossible to leave with only one thing. I actually think the eyelet was only ten dollars, but I figured I owed at least another ten just for talking to me.
  22. I took my skates to a shoe repair place one time and it was like $20 for a new lace eyelet. Old timey stuff is legit.
  23. Do you have a tailor in town?
  24. If you disregard the Tank years (which I do for everything,) the Sabres had a winning record when Matt was in the lineup.
