It looks like the game Saturday was just an off night. Good to know. They looked great tonight.
-
Dang.. After some great Sabres play,
Sabres are down on a defelction from the point.
Buffalo: Tampa: :death:
Good Buffalo pressure but too many passes...
It looked like Vanek passed that one because Denis was getting over by the time he had a handle on it.
-
Lydman playing will be a huge relief.
-
I've been reading the Kotalik for Seabrook rumors all day as well. In the end, we may need to make this type of move due to injuries increasing our cap number to the point where we have to trade someone.
I think it would be a great move. I like Kotalik, but he hasn't been himself this year. Without Kotalik Paille gets called up, and our 4 PP pointmen are Pominville, Numminen, Campbell and Spacek. Seabrook can fill the void on our blueline and add some needed depth when Tallinder and Lydman come back. Not to mention the cap relief that this would bring!

we shall see tomorrow, but i predict a very pissed off sabres team against the lightning.
They can still do that and play their game. :)

by change of pace, i do not mean trade someone or c ut someone or bench someone... I mean they need to cut the no teeth finesse crap and play some balsy playoff defense first hockey. yeah, i know we're down our top 2 defensemen, but that's not an excuse to play hard. funk and paetsch aren't tallinder and lydman, but they can still play defense... kotalik, drury, briere, vanek, et al. can still backcheck. by change of pace, i just meant that the team needs to get back to basics. hopefully a little humble pie this week, served by the senators, will do that. if i were lindy, i'd forget last night and go straight to last november's senator debacle on DVD and show that. it's one thing to lose, it's another to not show up, and lindy will be looking for heads if they don't show up again on monday.
The problem with that is that if they stop playing their game, I don't think they will be as successful.

Looks like the Sens are this years Lightning for the Sabres.
Didn't we sweep the Lightning last year?
-
And its still 1-1!
Sorry, had to post something about the 'bright side' :D
Miller looked good too.
-
Yeah, one of the worst periods all year.
-
Let's keep it going tomorrow!
-
Damn, I admit it, I was thinking shut out :bag:
Eh, he's still having a solid night.
-
Dumb penalty by Crosby.
-
How was that not interference on Crosby?
-
Nice save by Marty.
-
He hasn't played so well since he started wearing the new mask. Maybe he is being superstitious.
-
Correct....which goes back to my point that Biron should be starting for 1/3 of the league. Have I ever said the Sabres?
If someone puts a $100 bill and a $50 bill in front of you, do you spend the $100 and "clean yourself" with the $50???
I disagree with your assessment of most of the teams he "could" be starting for.

Let's play guess the goalie..........
From 2003-current
W-L-T GAA SV%
Goalie#1 53-27-5 2.51 .909
Goalie#2 45-26-1 2.71 .908
Your choices are:
Marty Biron
Ryan Miller
Here's some numbers:
Ryan Miller in post lockout NHL: GAA: 2.61 SV% .914
Marty Biron in post lockout NHL: GAA: 2.95 SV% .901
And another note: During Marty's streak last year, 7 of the wins were against non-playoff teams. 5 against Pittsburgh and Washington.

St Louis, Tampa, Columbus, Philly, Boston, Chicago, Phoenix, Florida, Carolina........
I'd take Cam Ward over Marty.
Auld is having a similar year to Marty, Belfour is having a better year.
Phoenix I will give you.
Boston is close. I think I would still take Thomas over Biron.
Nittymaki has slightly better numbers than Marty, he's playing with a muscle tear and on in front of one of the worst defenses in hockey. I'd take Nittymaki.
Khabibulin is older and seems injury prone. But I think he's a better goaltender. I will still give you that one.
Leclaire is putting up slightly better numbers on a bad team, and he just turned 24. He still could develop further.
Denis and Biron are about even.
Both St. Louis goalies have the problem of playing for St. Louis. I think Legace is a better goalie than Marty. I like what I have seen from Sanford as well.
-
Marty could/should be starting for 1/3 of the league. Our team is just getting worn down. Too many key injuries...Teppo is still playing 20+ minutes with a tweaked groin. We gave the Sens 6 consecutive full minutes in our zone in the 2nd. That reaks of being tired.
Which teams specifically?
-
How about scoring THREE?
I know it makes everyone feel better to blame only the goalie, just like everyone feels better to blame Losman or Bledsoe when the whole team sucks. Well, the whole team, Biron included, sucked tonight (by their lofty standards ... not comparing them to the Bills.)
We outshot them 29-23, Emery outplayed Biron.
-
I agree, but then say that. The point is they needed to be bailed out.
Sorry they can't score 7 82 times a year. But sometimes your goalie needs to show up. Biron did not.
-
You guys make it sound like everyone else showed up tonight and Biron is the only one making mistakes. They don't deserve to be in this game, they are playing about 1/3 of the time. It would be 5-2 if Biron doesn't hold them in it. I agree the first goal sucked, but if that goal beats a team averaging nearly 5 per game they do not deserve to win.
3 goals on 22 shots is just not cutting it. It's been a while since he's had a game with a .900 or higher SV%.
The team bailed him out some other nights. He's not returning the favor tonight.
-
Damn, Drury off to the dressing room....
Hopefully it's nothing major. He looked a little shook up after blocking a shot.
-
Thought Marty was gonna do one of his classics there, and slide into the net with the puck underneath him... Phew.
That was close.

Went to the game tonight. I thought both goalies looked really sharp. Still trying to figure out why Lundqvist wasn't at least 3rd star. My seats were behind the net where Drury scored the game winning goal. Nice!
