game discussion thread GDT: Islanders at Sabres, 4-26-13 7:00PM

I picture a big buildup in the locker room. Players wanting to get Miller the shutout for his 500th game. Miller's feeling great, giving the Chevy Chase "you can do this, you can do this" to himself pregame. Puck drops, Isles take the zone, first shot BOOM blown past Millsie. Then Miller gets caught on camera saying "Well there goes that idea". -

Interesting comments from Vanek today. He gets it. Answering the "what happened" question: "Inconsistency, not enough, I guess, good players, play makers, whatever you want to call it. If you look at our game against the top teams we played structurally well. When we played teams like Florida, Carolina, Tampa, who are the same level as us you have to bring your own game. We struggled with that. You look at the record against that division, that's the playoffs right there." TALENT!!!! We need TALENT!!!! -
I have to stop clicking this thread. :wallbash:

I think we'll just let the tin foil hat crew take care of this one.

But Conklin was different. Lindy ruined him.

Couldn't agree more. He should've just given that half a billion to Buffalo and shut the hell up.

Not uncommon for hockey players to do this. -
You can't re-sign someone until after July 1st before their final year.
-
They talked about all of them dressing for warm ups. Haven't heard if they will.
-
It's been so long for Toronto that they don't know what the heck to do.
-
The return I want for trading Vanek would be Thomas Vanek.
-
Vanek is having his best year ever. NFW I trade him.
-
Ha ha young Jedi learn you will.

We'd need to lose out. Possibly 5th if some of those games go differently.
-
Well we took out Wellwood for the rest of the season. Maybe....
-
Miller starts. Does he finish?
-
Wellwood. Done for the season.

FWIW, a friend of mine sells her stuff on Etsy.

Thoughts for last night: Small crowd, I'd say 12,000 Enroth was on fire. Tons of energy. Ennis: seemed almost every pass was in someones skates, either a Sabre or the Jets. Multiple times he chose to pass when he could've shot the puck. I have no idea how he got a star last night. Grigorenko: not impressed with his performance. I counted three times he was set up all alone in front and whiffed on the puck. Made bad choices all night. One time early the Sabres got the puck deep and were putting the pressure on, had control in the Jets zone, you could feel a goal coming. Grigorenko skates all the way across the ice to make a line change. Stafford: if he played like he did last night more often I'd keep him. Strong on the puck, great hustle. As a team: You would think by this time in the season they could pass it stick to stick. Passes behind, in the skates, too far in front. Indecision by all. Waiting too long to pass, make the play. They are way to tight

Iginla looks to continue his recent scoring surge and lead the Penguins to an eighth consecutive win Tuesday night against the last-place Sabres, who ended Pittsburgh's previous lengthy winning streak earlier this month.
