I agree. I've said before that I think what Dan was doing in trying to shelter this team and its shortcomings was problematic. His play-not-to-lose approach severely stunted any growth that might have been expected from playing a more appropriate system but being just plain old bad. Housley isn't sheltering this team and their true mediocrity has been exposed. This roster was worse than Bylsma's system was letting on, but I think Botterill and Housley probably knew that might happen. Botterill should be familiar enough with Bylsma to know what he was getting in to.

That was me, and yes, I think we're doing another makeover. I can't see Botterill committing to any cap mistakes. Which is why I think guys like Kane and Reinhart are probably gone. He isn't going to get Kane to sign for a price he likes. Sam Reinhart is going to want more in RFA that he's probably interested in giving. So trade them away.

I'll trade one of Johnson or Lehner if we can pry a goalie away from Vegas when Fleury comes back.

This is just another in what is becoming a long string of Jack Eichel body language incidents. I understand being frustrated, but at some point the "displays of emotion" become unconvincing/unproductive. I'm no longer convinced that Jack is earning the right to act this way.

Yup. He'd have to retire from the NHL to go overseas but we'd still have his rights if he tried to come back.

We would literally have had to bribe another team with draft picks to take his contract. It's simply incredible how bad he got almost overnight. I think if we were going to re-do the tank and I was the GM, I would only have signed guys to short deals. Journeymen and some guys on the way out. There's like...no point in signing guys to any substantial deals when you're trying to reset. A tank should be as much about re-setting the team's cap as it is the roster.

Broke down and bought a half gallon cool mist humidifier for the office. I plopped it right on my desk and am determined to be a master of my personal bubble. I've been sick more since I started this office job about 3 years ago than I have ever been in my life. And when I get sick it takes me longer to recover. I used to get over colds in 4 days. I never got sick working in the factories and warehouses. Even in college when all I did was drink and smoke I never got sick more than once a year. But this office is killing me.

I don't know how much he can do, but shedding so dead weight is a start. I'm sure he's not happy about the cap hit but he probably figures he can get by on some value contracts. I bet Reinhart and Kane are closer to the door...

It sucks that we have to live with his cap hit but, if we're all concerned about the culture inside the locker room, having a guy like Moulson claiming a roster spot over some kid on an ELC who can actually skate has to have been problematic for Botterill and Housley.

Stick Josie and I wherever we fit. We had a good time sitting with Woody last year, but we like all these weirdos so whatever works. :)

Would be nice to see the Bills just completely goon it up for once.
